When Does Timer Start On Speed Run Achievements?

Planning to try for a speed run achievement, but have a few quick but crucial “technical” questions”.

  1. To start, I just reset the Campaign to the start of the first Quest of an Act, correct?

  2. When does the timer start? I assume the moment I click “Resume Quest”.

  3. When does the timer end? Is it when I travel to the next Act?

  4. Does the timer pause when I press “Esc” to go to the pause screen?

Once again, thanks D3 veterans for your technical guidance.

Yiren.

  1. No, you reset the COMPLETE campaign. You must do the COMPLETE campaign in ONE GO, not individual acts.
  2. It starts when you enter the game in campaign mode.
  3. It ends when you’ve done the COMPLETE campaign and just killed Malthael.
  4. No idea, but i wouldn’t assume it does.

Thanks, Huertgenwald.

For Q1, I am referring to the speed run achievement for each Act (e.g. “No Time to Rest” for Act 1 or “Sandskimmer” for Act 2). I am not referring to the speed run for the whole Campaign.

Hence, I assume I can focus on the start and end times of each Act (rather than the whole Campaign). Is this logic in error?

If you mean you’re going for the in-game achievements for completing each individual act within an hour, as opposed to the Season 22 Conquest for completing the entire Campaign within an hour, the timer starts as soon as you enter the game and ends when you’ve killed the end boss of that act and talked to the NPC in town that would take you to the next act. If you press Escape (so you’re at the menus) this should count as a pause as far as the timer goes.

Some of the Acts are a lot quicker than others but I’d be surprised if you don’t manage each individual act in under 15 minutes each. (You’d obviously need to lower that average if you were going for the Conquest).

What about doing in party?
Doest it count?

Yes. At least the conquest does. Actually it’s almost impossible to do it without a party. Someone needs to stay in town and click all the dialogues to progress the story so you don’t waste time going back and forth. Every seasonal quest, unless it specifically says to do it solo, can be done with others. Even the set dungeons.
