Whirlrend question

Hi. I ve question about whirlrend barb. Should i apply rend all the time to all mobs or rend is automatically apply while i whirlwind. When i watch utubers they just apply to elites and then moving on. Sry for eng. Ty in advance. Coz it s boring if i ve to apply rend all time. :frowning:

Currently, there are options…
Bul-Kathos swords equipped, Ambo’s Pride cubed
Istvan’s Paired Blades equipped, Ambo’s Pride cubed
Ambo’s Pride and another weapon equipped, The Furnace cubed

However, as you’ll notice, all of these options include Ambo’s Pride in some way, which automatically applies Rend to enemies hit by Whirlwind. If you do not have Rend as an ability on your toolbar, Ambo’s causes un-runed Rends to be applied. If you put Rend on your toolbar with a rune selected, Ambo’s causes runed Rends to be applied.

There are arguments as to which rune to use but it’s over which of these two to use… Lacerate (for higher base Rend damage but it’s lightning and most WW/Rend builds go for +Physical bonuses) or Bloodbath (to spread Rends and benefitting from +Physical bonuses).

When Patch 2.6.7a is released, the Lamentation mighty belt will once again have a Rend damage bonus of 100%-150%, rather than the 200% we saw on the PTR. You can also get 15% Rend bonus on shoulders and chest.

Short version:
You won’t be manually applying Rends.

Ty meteor for ur quick answers as always.

Rend is apllied automatically with the new Iteration of the Wastes Set, if you use or cube Ambo’s Pride.

The Wastes set armour, whilst increasing the damage that Rend does, does not cause it to be applied. The automatic application of Rend as a result of Whirlwinding is entirely due to the changes to Ambo’s Pride made in Patch 2.6.7 which gave it the following legendary affix…

Attacking with Whirlwind also applies Rend, and the total damage of Rend is dealt over 1 second.

Someone, more into it, wrote:
Last time this was tested, we came to the conclusion Lamentation only stacks the actual Rend damage - not the effects of the runes, which basically meant Mutilate wasn’t as good. Blood Lust also isn’t as good.

Bloodbath can effectively stack 4x though, which is very nice.

It might be an unintended effect of Bloodbath (or a bug) but if it works it works.

Edit. From Free’s Whirlwing guide for season 19:

Rune Choice:
* Bloodbath for optimal DPS (stronger in density)
* Lacerate for more consistent damage output (weaker in density)

This one’s getting some love on the leaderboards apparently, with the other equipped weapon being Doombringer, because it rolls with +20% Physical damage.

Hi there,
I have some questions too, about rings, one must be band of might or zodiac, I guess, but what about the other one ?
I actually use traverller’s pledge as I didn’t get anything better but I was thinking of the time Amy ( sorry forgot the name, the one with double pylons time) + unity ( and unity on Merc)
I play solo ( as I find no HC clan :frowning: )
Thanks for the answers and sorry for the bad English

The rings are Zodiac, Band of Might, Coe and RoRG (if you use the Crimson version).
Amulet is usually Flavor of Time (you can use a Hellfire but Flavor is usually preferred).
I don’t play hardcore, so I can’t give advice about that.
