+1 WASD Please!

I know most ARPGs do not have WASD, I agree that objectively it’s easier to navigate with Point and Click movement, however for combat is rather annoying for some people (me included obviously).
Here are the issues:

1- Not being able to move and target at the same time. You either attack or move out of the way of enemies attacks, not very efficient.
It makes combat way too clunky and encourage the development of carpal syndrome in your wirst.
Having two different inputs for two different tasks by having WASD to move and the mouse to target and shoot, it’s the logic way to go IMHO, and avoids straining your wrist.

2- My cursor tend to disappear during crowded fights, so I am not able to target efficiently, I don’t know if that’s only me but I do have this problem in many games where there is lots of stuff going on the screen (many mobs, spell particles effects etc). It’s not my rig as I have a very good PC so the cursor doesn’t actually disappear, it’s just that my eye cannot spot the cursor fast enough in the middle of the chaos of crowded fights, so I end up clicking blindly often ending up with disastrous results.

3 - Because of #2, when I move to a position to dodge enemies, and then try to retarget the enemy, I have problems finding the target (losing my cursor) and end up clicking blindly usually missing the target and actually moving towards the enemies and get wrecked.

I don’t understand the stubborness of not implementing WASD in ARPGs, just because the original ARPGs didn’t have WASD that doesn’t mean they can’t be implemented as an option.
Implementing WASD movement is the simplest task in developing a game, I messed around with Unreal Engine and the simplest thing to do when designing a game is implementing WASD, so it’s not a technical problem that requires months to implement, it takes literally minutes.

I understand that in some instances Point and Click can be an advantage, for instance when you have to circle enemies or Dots, but in general WASD is way more useful at avoiding mobs/damage.

So why not having it as an option?
There are literally no Cons in doing so.

Please support “+1 WASD” guys!

I totally support this and would like to see WASD movement added as an option to the game

I use xbox controller to play, its miles easier. Although i would switch back if WASD was implemented as using mouse pointer is far superior.

So we are still on Diablo1 movement style?

uff …

You would think things will progress in 26 years.

I have found the lack of wasd to be an annoyance in the beta thus far but trying to deal with Ashava with a character that has ranged attacks… the difference between I would like to (left click) hurl a ranged attack at this boss and I would like to (left click) run towards the safe area under this boss is not a thing apparently. Add to that, losing the cursor in the busy-ness of the screen meant I ended up frequently dodging in the wrong direction.

id liek it as an option. WASD + mouse would essentially make it a twin stick shooter system.

You can bet on the number 1 to attack so it 's easier to move and attack .And moving the mouse is another skill that will not spoil the course of the movement game for you.It 's always easier to make movements this way .I wouldn’t mind if such a function is on wasd.

It 's necessary to get used to it .I had problems with that.In diablo , I remember this function can be disabled , put another one that is connected with movement .for unit 1, you can move around and mow down mobs

to evade , it is not necessary to drive the mouse far , it moves itself as wasd .This is a matter of habit that has not been mastered .I was steaming in d3 myself .Then I realized that I got used to it so much faster and there is no such thing that it was difficult .The game itself is such a movement .We need to get used to it and do something with the mouse .I 'm really talking about dpi to reduce and everything is necessary .Then you get used to it .

I didn’t play diablo immortal, but didn’t that game on pc have WASD movement?
I’m kind of curious why Blizzard added WASD to a previous diablo game by default, but somehow can not add it to diablo 4? Doesn’t make any sense to me.

WASD for Diablo? I can only feel sorry for everyone who wants to play the game with mouse and keyboard. Get a decent controller (xbox!!), it’s a real game changer and sit back and relax during the grind.

You mean,. collect, throw off, and watch the main thing is to watch what lies on the floor comfortably and read stats, and not in the inventory? And is it so convenient to interact with the world?with things.I have a joystick, I’ll try…I don 't think he 's a high - speed joystick , unless it 's just to relax and flip the screen further and even more business .

The problem with WASD movement is that you only have 8 directions of travel, which might not align with certain abilities like blink/teleport.

I have to say that I’ve bought D4 for my PS5 as I hate playing these games on my PC, as my wrists get tired using keyboard and mouse. I like to chill on the sofa to play these top down games, though I understand that not everyone thinks and feels like this.

In this day and age though, I think all input devices should be considered for games, as it’s a very basic request and the tech is most definitely there!

My only though as to “why they don’t” is that it makes consoles feel like PCs and I imagine a gentleman’s agreement between hardware companies to ensure maximum profits.

+1 for WASD support for movement.

The game plays incredibly well with a controller.

It’s a real shame we downgraded from WASD in Immoral back to carpal tunnel simulator.

WASD will really bring more fun than the old school mouse click and click…sometimes cant even go to the position we wanted…

I’m sure this thread must be a Troll … to think WASD would even be effective in this game astounds me. The reduced speed of character rotation and mobility would be extremally painful - reminds of old school WOW clickers and keyboard turners.

If you want your char to stand still whilst targeting a mob just press the “Hold” key.

After unlocking the horse in game I want WASD even more.

In order to sprint/run with your mount you are forced to keep your mouse hovering at the edge of your screen, if the mouse is to close to your mount the horse will just walk and you are wasting the speed boost.

I believe WASD would instantly solve this issue and you will be free to keep your mouse wherever you want it to be.

this is the effect of the massive advertising campaign

Lot of casual players.

Its diablo not assassins creed you do not need w,a,s,d.

then, although PAD is also blasphemous.
it is undeniable that the game can also be played with the pad, as long as the stand on place is “automatic”

but the commands for diablo’s movement are mouse click + Shift(to stand on place, if someone missing this mechanic)

this ensures greater freedom of movement and leaves the left hand free for casting.

as far as I’m concerned, I recommend changing 1-2-3-4
with A-S-D and F? (C?..X for someone) + mouse side button (always as fourth spell), with some types of spells it is useful to have the button on the mouse
obviously, solving any conflicts that arise with the keys

seriously, learn to play diablo, with diablo’s commands.
