I guess I’m just posting this to hopefully inform others. Since 1.1.1 I’d been unable to play as every time I teleport to Kyovashad the game would hang, disconnect and then take me to the character select screen. The time waste in this happening each time just makes the game miserable and not worth the time for a casual player.
I’ve been checking every month or so since then and today it seems to be fixed for me. I was able to teleport from a dungeon to Kyovashad 5 times in a row without issue.
Honestly it’s quite disappointing that it’s taken since 8th of Aug to resolve and it isn’t acknowledged anywhere in patch notes since 1.1.1. I know from the forum is was affecting a lot of people and all those people had no issues playing before 1.1.1.
The game has been a nightmare of stability issues since launch and there has been no support or acknowledgement of the issue by blizzard at all.
When I bought the game at launch I was plagued by fenris crashes (my system is within the recommended specs). I eventually got a refund as it was clear that the issue wasn’t going to be resolved.
Some months on from that I switched systems so decided to purchase the game again. I was able to play normally for a few weeks, until the 1.1.1 update was pushed. Then began the disconnect on teleport issue.
I really wish I’d never bought the game. I’ve been playing the franchise since Diablo 1 but my trust in Blizzard is totally destroyed. I really can’t see myself ever purchasing a blizzard game again.
Update: It seems the issue isn’t fixed. My best guess is that the lesser server load prior to the season launch meant I wasn’t experiencing the issue and now I am again.
It seems that loading into any town that is densely populated with other characters will result in the disconnect and return to the character screen. It seems that if it takes just slightly too long to load it triggers a disconnect. You can even see the town load in just before you get the disconnect message.
