Hello, here is some feedback after reaching level 25 on a Barbarian and Sorceress:
Bugs
- When transitioning between zones, I often see “rubber-banding” or encounter temporary invisible walls. It’s like the server needs to complete some processing before allowing me to proceed.
- After I died at the stronghold, my character was invisible when ressurected. My character reappeared when I started fighting some enemies.
- At the Black Lake, the blood on the ground seems to flicker. It looks like a minor graphical glitch. My platform is PS5.
- In one of the dungeons I picked up a book/journal that was quite lengthy, as the listed a bunch of items. The subtitle box that appeared on the screen was really large and made it hard to see what I was doing.
- A couple of times I got stuck on the loading screen after town portaling. I had to restart the app on PS5 to resolve this.
Room For Improvement
- The level scaling prevents me from feeling like my character is getting stronger. Even though I have levelled up and obtained legendary equipment, I don’t feel that much stronger than I did before. I’m not against scaling in general, but I think it can be tweaked so that we can feel that progression of power.
- Legendary items do not seem rare enough. I was able to find 10+ of them per character. They do not feel exciting to find if it happens so frequently.
- The exact same cellar room is used too often.
- The dungeon layouts could do with some more variety, as they generally are the same. Some repetition is unavoidable, but it’s super hard to differentiate between the dungeons at the moment.
- It was not obvious to me at all that I could assign skills to certain weapons as the Barbarian. I think users will need a tutorial popup for this of some sort.
- The Barbarian felt substantially weaker than the Sorceress. The difference was so stark, it made to reconsider starting as a Barbarian for the final release.
- I wish I had more options to clean up the user interface on PS5 e.g, I would like to hide the input button icons.
Things I Really Liked
- The art direction. The environments and characters look great.
- The sound design. The voice acting, monsters, spells and attacks sounds great.
- The boss mechanics. I like that I actually have to adapt to the boss attacks and it’s not just mindless attacking.
- The world boss. This was a lot of fun, challenging, and a great spectacle. It makes me excited to see the others.
- The “feel” of movement and the animations.
I hope this is useful.
