I feel like a parrot, but the problem is that Blizzard does not build the game as a first pure and absolutely deep RPG.
They are building a game where everything feels the same because there is something very specific attached to it and with that you have a strong monotony.

There is only one real solution and that is to build a strong, lengthy and in all aspects deep RPG as a foundation and definitely not an endgame as a goal.
That means, among other things, different skill trees per class and splitting up the skills. Each class has to play totally different and felt, even intra-class depending on the skill tree.

Specializations are tied to this and these accompany you to the end and can then be continued with their own new variant with their own content.
However, this process is only available at the end when you are through the actual main game, which takes time, and then acts as a new setting that you keep exciting, but which does not determine the game, but runs with it.
E.g. extra open large levels where fortresses and towns/villages are besieged and players liberate them and for that there are specialization points to expand the 2nd skill tree which just expands the existing stuff. It is a composite and is only adapted with jem add on in the main game, but not constantly fed as THE CONTENT. The things that happen there are still much slower and the tasks take many months and that only with a char and all others, yes even your own character, can be restarted as a twink, because other skills mean totally different gaming … You can just do massively, if you understand the world as a goal and no sport at the end…

Items are bonuses and then also fun, if they support the talents and do not make the RPG useless, because they are the supporting force and Endgame as a spiral with a competition mode is such a simple content, you can optionally offer like PvP e.g. in an endless dungeon in hell. But to pass there, you always have to master the actual world and its battlefield to grow there.
This endgame sport can then have all kinds of gimmicks and competitions I don’t know, but it doesn’t dominate, it can also remain completely unnoticed. And if you want balances there, then you just have to split that off from the skill from the main game and adjust it, like in PvP.

The good thing is that if you build such RPGs, then there is no real balancing and that is not strived for, because it makes everything boring and the same again.

The path is the goal and you just have to bring that across and that takes time and have class houses for class quests and that all has to fit into such a world and be different for the classes as well.

Re-skilling will never happen that easily. It is treated totally restirktiv and serves an error correction once in a blue moon, if e.g. an add on appears, everything else breaks with RPG and makes it worse. You are your role and don’t change everything like your underwear to fight number wars.

If it’s a game like now, then you race through it, everything is made for the endgame and thus everything is a soup, otherwise there is no endgame game, i.e. a sports game about number war and payment in items for more numbers, or a table who is the horniest.
That just doesn’t work.

D4 has shot its powder, if you have 1-2x the world through. And then you ask yourself what now?
And there is no endless spiral of redemption, because the whole game still feels the same and you just deliver higher and higher numbers and in the end iron through everything at breakneck speed, like a 400 meter Zunami over a cornfield…and all the world roars for more and harder and it never ends…
But the game is a pile of ashes under this tower of madness…
This makes no D4 as a game worth, you can also play the old D3 and tie Grifts 1000.

Seasons are also a bad idea, because they always kill everything at the end and totally weaken the path as a goal and the game world. In addition, this also holds a kind of spiral and is with each Season only in the theme set up again and served. In addition, it must go quickly and again you should be through in time x… that’s nonsense in an RPG.
It’s not about getting through, that just happens when you play the world, experience the adventure and are bound in it and it’s fun again with every char, because the RPG part makes many things different again, because for example class houses of the druids are completely different and the tasks there and the whole story around it, to bind to the classes and skill trees etc…

And real content of the game world, currently comes then only about an add on, but what changes nothing at the core problem, if you do not totally turn the game…

So this will never be something more, if we genre alien game content everything to RPG genre mechanics leverage, dull, mix, burn, omit or grill for the end game and make a joke.

Sorry, yeah. I said this years ago, like so many others on the D3 forum over and over again and pointed it out and now we have a nice campaign and the rest is a one-size-fits-all world to now couple Seasons and Endgame and Spiral to it.

Again great performance…we had this attempt but already in D3 and the world and the game was nix except 2-3 times.

And I warn the developers of D2R at the same time not to get involved in endgame nonsense, because that will also destroy D2R.

If you don’t want to know anything about RPG in the Diablo series, then just build a story and put it all together with a sports game. Saves quite a lot of cost and effort and then serves from now on the players from the area of sports, skill, and competitive game.

By the way, this also applies to MMORPGs. How long have I been watching how the genre has been brutally strangled with this single-player existence and end-game instance war, competition and number and item mumbo-jumbo?

I love it.

Really balanced fun.

Guess that cancels out the bad. :grinning:
