Blizzard monetization will fail

So after each season we will be forced to start a new character and replay the whole campaign.
And battle pass will be tied to each new season.

Nobody will pay money to restart the campaign and start over lol, you got to be crazy to think players will do that.
Sure, elitist no lifers will do it. But how many are they? 0.0001% of the total player base?

I’m level 71 and have been playing the game fairly often. No significant alts (lvl 22).
I have killed the bosses a few times and gathered quite a few of their legendary spoils which require me to be level 80 to even open them.
So by the time season 1 lands I will probably be lvl 80, maybe lvl 85 if I feel like playing as leveling after 70 seem to have slowed down A LOT.
So by the time I open my spoils it won’t take long before I am level 1 again. And I have to do everything all over again?
Can’t wait to blow my money and time on such an ingenious idea.

  1. seasons are free
  2. yes every season get’s a new battlepas which should have a free track as well
  3. you don’t have to do campaign
  4. you don’t have to recover the whole map again
  5. you don’t have to do lilith statues again

But you need to start from level 1 again indeed.

Can we get this pinned!?:laughing::laughing:

Free or not they will be tied to the new season battle pass. If I want to get the stuff included in it I will have to restart the game.
That’s dumb AF.

How so?

The season is literally “how far can you progress in a 3 month period”

You get loads of free stuff and the paid pass stuff is just cosmetics. So it doesn’t matter.

You want to hit 100 and just stay there… Forever… :face_with_monocle:

So you are either upset you won’t have enough time in 3 whole months to level and do activities, having the experience from having played eternal realm and knowing what to do.

Or you have not imagined how much time there is in 3 months! It’s 2 weeks and people are hitting 100, I have 4 heroes at 50 to 54 in tier 3.

And each season is a chance to try new builds.

It’s all positive.

If you think people who prefer seasons are “0,0001%” of the playerbase, you live in a parallel univers.

In every ARPG with seasons, including the previous Diablo game, 98% of the playerbase do seasons and ignores non-season.

And you don’t have to blow money, the season pass only gives additionnal cosmetics. That won’t stop people from playing seasons for free.

Lol. Its identical to how D3 ran and was considered a success.

Its not dumb AF, espically when u consider all seasonal rewards and BP rewards will be moved to eternal realms with ur orginal char at the end of the season.

Meaning overall ur progressing ur eternal character, not seasonal ones.

I think OP doesn’t fall in either of those categories. OP (and I myself) just expected season to work like in every other game where you expand your main characters with additional power that gets removed at the end of the season.

In Destiny 2 we have the Artifact system and in the last few expansions of WoW we had borrowed power systems. Something like that. Having to start over every time with a new character for some “digital :eggplant: comparison race” is not what people like the OP and I had in mind.

I am 100% glad I didn’t buy the game with the season pass, because I did save me money by doing so. I for sure will never level a new character on seasonal realms. I am not dumb. I am not going to waste my time with such :poop: for some cosmetics and “digital praise” for playing the game like a no-life.

I rather go to work and get paid than restarting characters every 3 months and paying for that instead. Because at work my effort doesn’t get erased.

Destiny 2? Haha. They don’t expand. They delete content to force you to buy more.

Setting sun more like “buy new stuff cos we are deleting all the DLC you paid for”.

The seasons in destiny are not comparable by any means. I had 1000s of hours in that franchise until they sunset the DLC I bought.

And you realise, you do reset. But what they do is simply make the starting light level last season’s.

So with everything scaling, you are effectively light level 1. But the screen says 700.

So you chose a poor comparison.

If you look at diablo 3, the previous game that has been out for over a decade and that set a norm for “seasons”. That would be a good place to start.

The season is a fresh way to play a new hero to get unlocks and transmogs and try different builds and attempt the unique challenges.

You get 3 months… That is a huge amount of time. It’s takes a couple of days to reach tier 3. We are all getting to play now so we can know where we want to go and what we want to farm.

And ultimately, it’s free too!

Glad you enjoy work so much.

You do you champ.

I’m gonna no life diablo IV for a decade or so. To each their own.

Also, no, you don’t lose anything.

At the end of the season, your character gets moved to the eternal realm. So you can improve that as much as you want still. :+1:

You may not like it but at least we are allowed to progress each season without being forced to start a new character with new gear every 3 months. Also we get new items and exotics every season. Power level doesn’t get reduced number-wise. Only re-adjusted every major DLC.

It may not be perfect, but still miles better than Diablo’s idea of seasons. I rather have seasonal content be removed at the end of the year than being forced to create a new character every 3 months and having to level up 1 full month to get to an endgame level.

I didn’t play a single season of Diablo 3. I didn’t even finish the DLC story of Reaper of Souls because it became so boring in-between.

In other words “repeat class at the end of the term” every 3 months. As I said, you are paying for cosmetic stuff and to earn it you have to play the same game over and over again from a new, instead of actual new content.

Knowing Blizzard lately, I wouldn’t recommend you to count on that.

In case you didn’t notice, there is a character limit on Eternity realms. At some point you will be forced to delete characters, ultimately making you lose progression.

Edit: 10 slots even. With 5 classes in the game rn, that’s like a single season you can play without deleting the 5 other characters on the Eternity realm to make space the season afterwards.

I only have 2 characters, that’s already 2 of 10 slot blocked. And you want to tell me you won’t lose anything?

just flag this nidclxvi troll! i hope “it” got ban forever! yes its! not human!

You really didn’t research this game at all huh?

You don’t need to keep the exact same one if you get them to lvl 100… Since you restart each season and get the hero to 100 again. Or as close as time allows.

You can choose to keep playing them in the eternal realm, or simply put their best gear in the stash and delete them ready for next season.

Depends on your playstyle.

But this is a rinse and repeat arpg game. That’s it hardcore fan base. You don’t invest time to keep the hero, you invest time in having fun doing the grind!

Think of it more as getting a high score in pac-man, you don’t care about pac-man, it’s the gameplay!

The rewards from season are used on eternal realm, but 99% of players just delete/rebirth in the season and play in season for the most part.

The play through is different each time due to RNG of events, drops and dungeons. So it doesn’t get stale. No more so than running bounties/dungeons/raids in Destiny. :+1:

Haha. Yikes…

Sounds a lot like burnout syndrome with extra steps to me.

I would never play Pac-Man for the High Score. Or at all.

That’s entirely inaccurate and false. Raids and Dungeons are in almost all cases played with the very same weapons (or weapon types) and builds every time in Destiny. And bounties are optional, you don’t even have to do them.

What a :poop: take.

You would never play Pac-Man?

Becomes nauseated by the lack of gamer credentials

:+1:

I guess I’ll go buy tickets to Glastonbury Festival and then complain that none of the music is death or thrash metal… It’s what all the cool kids are doing…

:eyes:

Oh, when we are going to have this type of conversation with “what all the cool kids are doing”, let me throw this at you…

Ok, Boomer.

Man, I love Left4Dead.

Did you play that?

I played destiny for a huge amount of time, I can LITERALLY tell you, that I did use different weapons as did everyone in the clan, most hardcore gamers aren’t meta slaves and abilities and the drops were random too, and the combat was always different etc.

Have you even played Destiny? Considering this reply it seems not.

We all used that wall hack bow from the dungeon where you have to kill that sorcerer and the ogres. To challenge ourselves. Haha. Loved destiny, shame they ruined it.
