Bring back Deckard Cain!

Have us resurrect him in some unholy ceremony as a zombie or something. Then he could follow us around from city to city so we can stay a while and listen.

It just isn’t the same without Deckard Cain :sleepy:

He can be reborn as a beautiful butterfly after the butterfly attack he was killed off by to be a constant reminder what an insult D3 was to the reputation of Diablo.

They should have Lilith resurrect him in an effort to gain our support in her cause, whatever that may be. He could come back batshit crazy though, likely singing this very song as succubi dance in the background…pyro…uh…well not technics because it would be infernal hellflame and not special effects, but you get what I mean.

Only the first sentence of this was serious…but I wouldn’t mind every part of it being serious.

Please don’t. While I hate the way he died, when DEATH is not permanent, future deaths will lose impact as there is always the possibility of revival.

Might go back to punch that butterfly in the nuts again while I wait for D4.

While I totally agree with your sentence, Necromancers may be shocked by the very idea of permanent death…

So maybe Deckard Cain may return in a similar way as other (old) Tristram citizen (you know, the good old Diablo I’s blacksmith had to be killed as an enemy in Diablo II, right?).

The guy was like almost 100 in D3 and an ill man… nuff said. He will always be a legend. If he comes back it would be wrong. It’s a shame we don’t have identify anymore though. I think if he is to come back it should just be to give a message or something.

Coming back as a zombie, or ghost, or maybe a skeleton we have to find pieces of and put back together again, and etc, seems reasonable and completely within gamer immersions as opposed to making him magically alive as a human.

I’m not a huge fan of retcons either but doing it this way could be a decent extension of his story without screwing up game lore.

“Declared cain! You’ve got to get out of here!”

Dont do a Zorthun Kulle to our friend Cain please.
Cain is dead , bringing him again its like telling us they cant do anything without him.
I really dislike him being killed in that unheroic way but having Cain back just for nostalgia would be cheap.

It isn’t just nostalgia - it’s because he’s iconic, and brings his meme phrase with him wherever he goes.

Ca perdrait de son sens, imaginez si on ressusite le personnage de Léa, la fille de Diablo, sa rendrait la vengeance sur Adria avec beaucoup moins de sens.

I fully agree - this part of the tale feels different without Deckard Cain and his voice - telling us about the secrets of Sanctuary and its inhabitants, the sin war, the prime evils and all those demons hell keeps spilling forth.
BUT
I also have to say that I like the character Lorath Nahr and his voice very much as well and when I lean back and close my eyes, listening to his speeches it feels even better than the good old times because I feel something new, more evil, primal in it’s form and violent, is ascending in Sanctuary.
And I can’t fight the feeling that we will all be surprised how this part of this story is gonna end…
