Bug report for Diablo 4 repeated crashes

but don’t you understand that I don’t have an overclocked cpu everything worked before the path, and after the path it started crashing the game so it’s not our fault but theirs

Still no response from Blizz except for “it’s your fault”.

They gave a response. That is the only good part.

The bad part: It took a lot of spam to get them to aknowledge the problem. The patch that caused the issue was not rolled back, instead they are most likely trying to do a hotfix WHEN they find the issue and how to fix it.

I can play the game for a solid 6 minutes - every crash is a variation of

“[Crash] Thread ‘JobWorker1’ handling fatal error”

The only variation is sometimes its JobWorker5, sometimes it’s 1

Same issue, not one crash until patch 1.03 since then it crashes every 10-20 minutes

Did you guys try capping your fps to 60 or 144 depending on how good your system is? I barely crash anymore and when I do it’s maybe once every 2 hours (actually playing straight for 3 hours right now without crash) OR did they just hotfix the problem? Because yesterday I crashed more often.

very close to “have you tried to turn of and back on again?” :joy:
this game its a beta still, i get very little crash, but lots of lag and rubber banding like crazy, its close to unplayable. i wish there were refund for this.

#metoo. Game has been working perfectly well since I bought it just after launch, and now with most recent patch it’s crashing with fenris error every time. I’ve tried lots of things after spending time reading this and other forums - capping frame rate, disabling iGPU, repairing install, etc. etc. Absolutely NOTHING else has changed on my machine between it working earlier and now crashing EXCEPT this recent patch. It’s 100% the common denominator here.

I’m now awaiting a new patch from the team please as my $$$ new game is currently unplayable… :frowning: :frowning: Would be nice to get some kind of discount if this goes on for a long time. The reason I forked out more money now rather than waiting a longer time for a sale is because I want to play it NOW! I’ve been really enjoying the game and getting into it, so this is VERY frustrating. :frowning: :frowning:

Are you people still crashing? I’m wondering if Blizzard hotfixed the problem or if I’m just being lucky because I can play for hours and hours without a crash. Even the last three Helltides no crash at all even though those gave me the most crashes since 1.0.3

Still crashing

I reduced textures from ultra to high and ‘only’ crashes every 30-45 mins now as opposed to 5-10 before

It all started after the 1.03 update - no crashes prrior

Hello, OP here with the update I can give.

I followed the advice given and I am still crashing, I can now give some more specific details about how the server may interpret whats happening to me.
(Razer - Xbox - Discord - Overwolf are all gone)
(My drives been scanning and verified all files - redownloaded the blizzard launcher as recommended to me by my support ticket)
(Downloaded new game drivers released last night for 3080 and crashing still)
So I have been able to replicate this happening when a graphical effect is supposed to be happening, sometimes more unique ones also. - specifically the occultist’s effect will allways cause a crash, when in a nightmare dungeon and a large enough group is pulled with a selection of the lightning / more flashing affix’s and abilities. During helltide about 10 seconds after meteors.
Repeatable crashes after getting 3 events without dying. - cannot be sure what is causing it besides some sort of graphical stack up in effect that is causing a freeze and the game isnt able to compute the actual game itself not whats on the screen, yet i’de be suprised as I have an I9 10900k 3.70ghz - I’m bottlenecked at ultra graphics so I can do multiple things on my pc at once, sure, but its built so I can do that, with discord, overlay, xbox and peripherals to make gaming easier for a dodgy spine. so why these interactions happen in the first place is solely a blizzard issue to fix.

Additional information for what happens in nightmare dungeons.
If you teleport to a dungeon and it ends you should return to the closest town correct ? or closest hub city at spawn yeah ?

If you crash and lose your party whilst in the nightmare dungeon yet can relog in time (Like 15 - 30 seconds) - you bypass queue logging in and appear in a random location at the closest hub town.

I seem to be having less crashes on my medium settings compared to low settings yet the frequency only increases after awhile.

We need a more thorough response into this issue please.

We have received news, that several crashes, specifically these are currently being investigated:

For now we can only ask to wait until the investigation is finished

There is bad and there is unbearable - come on blizzard fix the issue before you lose players… season 1 coming soon… not gonna be good if people cannot play it… sounds like a moan, but damn buying something that gets updated and then crashes constantly after an update is not good… professionalism means you answer the concerns before like me you ask for your money back and go back to POE - at least that doesnt crash - roll on POE2. #pissedoffdiablofan.

Do you mind explaining why the patch was not rolled back for further testing? It is obvious that the majority of issues came from came aftert the new patch.

I am sorry brother but this line of reasoning is at best lazy and at worst idiotic. Before the patch, everyone could play , after the patch, a majority can play but a minority cant, roll back the patch to do QA properly so everyone can play, launch it back 1-2 weeks down the line. I paid the exact same amount as the other players who can play(even more through their shop) so i expect the same attention and respect.

It’s sure thing that fault is at their end. I monitored behavior of the game recently and what i saw?. Game is gonna crash much less for me if i rollback nvidia drivers to version 531.79. Don’t ask me why , i just see it. Yesterday at some point i was able to play for 5hrs straight without crash with only Diablo launched as only app on my PC. And when i try to launch Chrome or Edge in background Diablo went to Hell instantly. But today i was able to launch game , edge , watching FHD movie in background at same time without single crash. Manager shows that Diablo using less than 4GB of my 16GB DDR2400 RAM (wtf)? What is happening that i can one day launch multiple tasks on my PC and game running without problems at all with 4k@60 and the other day can’t ?? I don’t have modern rig. My PC is 6th gen i7 , with 16GB DDR4 and RTX 2080Ti + SSD Nvme gen3 and i didn’t had such problems with any game before. I can even play Hogwarts at ultra with 4k (without RT ofc since 20XX got very weak 1st gen RT cores) and play 4k movies at same time and no problem what so ever?

Im crashing constantly on in nightmare dungeons, so much so I can no longer do them.

Solo, not another player in sight.

Not a single crash before the update, now its Fenris,

Main thread crash

So my crashes completely stopped since at least 12 hours of playing (since yesterday), here is what I did:

  • Capped my fps (my GPU load was always 99% so I should have done that before anyway, now it’s sitting at 60-70% but still, that was never a problem before 1.0.3)
  • turned off Periphal Lighting
  • turned off literally every software running in the background that I don’t need (steam etc)
  • turned off Nvidia Geforce Ingame-Overlay
  • turned off cross-network communications (not crossplay, just the communication. I tried that because I kept crashing constantly on Helltides after 1.0.3 and after that I could actually play them lol, don’t ask me how that is related…)
  • went into Nvidia control panel and put GPU power mode to “max power preferred” or something like that, I have no idea how it’s called in english (my crashes pretty much stopped 99% after all those steps mentioned above but I did it anyway because many people said it helped them)

Two more things you can try that I didn’t:

  • turn your CPU’s OC off (if it is OC’ed) or alternatively turn off Intel Turbo Mode in BIOS (many people on youtube/reddit said that helped them)
  • Nvidia just released a new driver like yesterday that might be worth a try for some people, I didn’t install it yet since my crashes stopped for now

This is all very frustrating and I hate playing cyber detective because of some big mistake on Blizzards side… Now I’m even paranoid to update my GPU driver because it could break the game again like f*** this…
