[BUG] Spellbound Steel Set

Hi Rogue community, Spellbound Steel Set NEED debugg or rework.

I’m very surprised this asn’t been up by someone else so i feel important to put what i learnt using the bonuses from the Spellbound Steel set for Rogue in this forum and hope anny personn will bring this to Blizzard to work on fast !

It either is very very bad explained (which may be part of the problem) or completly bugged.

Let’s start with the 2 pieces bonus.

It says :
”Lucky hit : Imbued Skills have up to a 9% chance to activate Inner Sight.
While Inner Sight is active, Imbueable Skills are Shadow Imbued by default.
”

It does :
Seems to be something more like “Lucky hit : Imbuable Skills have up to a 9% chance to activate Inner Sight.”.

You may proc Inner Sight without using imbuement to start the process. Very coool but to rare enough to not be noticed wether you play with rapid fire or barrage. Do not seems to work using the aspect that makle your Basic Skill Imbuable even while imbued (have to retest or be corrected by somebody here).

Wether you use Inner Sight as your specialisation or not you’ll never have the UI visual of Inner Sight while using this Set. So the only way to know it proc is to see you have Shadow Imbuement on your skills (which could be complicated due to overlapping layers of visuals in higher difficulty tier) or to be very carefull about your ressource sphere.
So you have absolutly no UI info about the fact of being under a buff as powerfull as Inner Sight is.

More problematic is the “While Inner Sight is active, Imbueable Skills are Shadow Imbued by default.” which does not really describe what happens. In fact it’s more “When Inner Sight activate, trigger Shadow Imbuement”.
This lead to cases where your Shadow Imbuement stays up even after Inner Sight drop off.
This does not seems to increase that much Inner Sight uptime by allowing you to reproc it faster through the Lucky Hit. As we do not have UI visuals for the Inner Sight from the Set it’s hard to tell.
It seems that you will profit from sides upgrades of the talent tree on the passive Shadow Imbuement you get through the set but i wasn’t able to tell if you profit from having more talent point invested into it or not (for damage purpose) nor if having it on the active bar change anything.

Is this intended and then bad worded on the item or the other way ?

I personnaly prefer this than haveing an imbuement for 4 sec every 10 sec.
But in the actual state of things it leads to some rare but still present more buggy situations were you proc Inner Sight while having the passive Shadow Imbuement up and loose it during your Inner Sight. Which means sometimes you simply does not trigger it again if it’s already up.

The 3 pieces bonus.

It says : “Automatically drink a free Healing Potion every 4 seconds. Drinking a Healing Potion increases your Maximum Life by 30% for 8 seconds.”

Actually work as intended and does incredibly well with some aspect or unique which allow overheal to grant you barrier or to give you all res or some barrier while using a potion.
I may admit i never checked if i do get the increased max life. Have to be verified since every single bonus from the set seems incredibly bugged.

The 5 pieces bonus.

Here is the juicy part that should give the bread and butter but does really poorly.

It says :
“Your Imbuements gain all of their Side Upgrades, their potency is increased by 200%, and grant 50% Lucky Hit Chance while active. While Inner Sight is active, your Imbueable Skills apply all Imbuements.”

It does :
I did not notice having any more Side Upgrades than the ones i select. As this leads in no clear visual in the UI (you do not see any Side Upgrade active in your tree the moment you activate the 5 pieces bonus) we do not know what is a side upgrade ?
Is this the 3 core upgrades (for exemple for Cold Imbuement it would be Frozen Heart, Buffered Battery and Crystal Distillation) ?
Is this the 4 little grey one (again would be Cooldown, Energy, Resolve and Overpower) ?
Or may be all of em ?

It do seems that ONLY the potency of the visually active Imbuement is upgraded as ONLY the damage type of the visually active Imbuement is taken in account.

The increased Lucky Hit Chance does not feel active either for exemple my “Lucky Hit Chance : Up to 7% to Freeze the ennemy” does not become either 57% nor 10,5% (the lack of information about what the percentage does is another problem too).

The more important part here seems that what we all expected does not happen and make this set bonus absolut trash compared to others or even no set at all !

Let me explain.

What we notice :

  1. You never have the three Imbuement Skills activ at the same time.
  2. ONLY the last Imbuement Skill you used is activ.
For exemple i use Poison Imbuement then Inner Sight activate. During Inner Sight i will only deal Poison Damage but i’ll generate Barrier from the Buffering Battery i did pick and trigger Shades from the Shadow Game i did pick. So i won’t Chill nor Weakens from the Cold Imbuement or even make shadow explosion from the Shadow Imbuement.
  3. Only the passively triggered Shadow Imbuement from the 2 pieces bonus seems to apply the Side Upgrades from all the Imbuement Skills i picked even out of Inner Sight but still lack the 200% increased potency.
  4. You get the Side Upgrades you did pick from ALL the Imbuement Skills up during ANY Imbuement Skills.

What it could mean :

  1. The Set is bad worded and it is mean to gives you all the Imbuement Side Upgrades activ during ANY activ Imbuement Skills.
This would be the worst outcome since 200% increased Potency will never compete with the other 5 pieces set bonus damage.
  2. The game does not allow multiple damage type from a single hit (is this something ?) and this throw up the whole concept of this set allowing you deal Cold, Poison and Shadow Damage with a single hit.
Resulting in having only a single Imbuement Skill activ whatever the situation and completly killing the usefullness of the 2 pieces bonus “While Inner Sight is active, Imbueable Skills are Shadow Imbued by default.”. Forcing players to have at least 1 Imbuement Skill on the active bar and overhauling the passive Imbuement.
This would be the best outcome and i hope strongly for the devs to do something to make it happens since it actually is the more fun build to play arround letting you try a tons of things !

I do hope you read the whole things and i’ll be more than happy to have all your returns in using and trying to make this bonus set work !

Thanks for reaching the end of this thread.

I hope they do something about this set bonus please !

I’ll post a video of a clear with this set activ, with and without Imbuement on the activ bar, with and without side upgrade taken just to get a visual content of all i said.

I do profit of this thread to say that i feel like Arrow Storm does not count hits correctly since you do proc really poorly compared to Rapid Fire even with almost the same number of hit damage you could see.
May be something to take in account if trying to play a Lucky Hit with this spell.

has this been fixed yet?

Mainly the 5 piece because I kinda just noticed all 3 imbuements are not activating at the same time unless it’s on the skill bar… which IMO kinda really limits you because now you need to equip 3 imbuements which kinda sucks. what’s funny is I noticed this after the season is nearly over and I made it to pit 125 with this set… I could only imagine how much better the set would be if it was tweeked a bit

also the wording on it is not good, it should tell you that you need to equip the skills

I am currently using this set and for me, the 3 imbuements do activate. I only have cold imbuement in my skill bar, but at least the final node choice activates as well. But you do have to at least spend one skill point to activate each imbuement, they do not work with the charm set otherwise… and I guess you have to at least spend a skill point for each final node choice… although the wording says that it gives every upgrade to the imbuement skills.
