Hi. I am a “late comer”, just playing the campaign for the first time with a druid. I played all the diablo franchise .
My point: please make the game harder during the campaign, or just let people free to choose higher difficuly levels also BEFORE completing the campaign - that limit to me does not make sense at all.
My experience : I don’t like to rush and I like to explore, so I’m doing also a few of the secondary quests I find . This way, toward the end of ACT2 quests I was already at lvl 50. I’m now mid ACT3 and I’m lvl 52, I am trying to skip the secondary quests whishing that the level difficulty will “normalize” a bit.
The first levels (10-40) were Ok-ish, zero problems in the open, but I died 2 times meeting the Butcher in dugeons, and also I had to try and come back conquering Kor Dragan Outpost because the boss was killing me. I had to USE my defensive skill or my Health would go down when attacked.
But from 40 onward the game difficulty just instantly dropped below zero. I collected legendaries and I’m now full orange.
I AM JUST STEAMROLLING THE MOBS AND ALSO THE BOSSES. I Can even stay IDLE while ordes of mobs attack me, and my health barely goes down.
Vice versa, I oneshot everything I touch with my core skill. It’s already 5-6 hours worth of gameplay that I completely stopped using the evade skill, defensive skill, potions and “ultimate” skill. They are absolutely useless. I just walk into mobs-bosses, use first and secondary skill, and in 2 seconds ALL DIES. Full health, not a scratch. Rinse and repeat for hours with no challenge at all.
I changed specs for fun already 2 or 3 times, and the situation doesn’t change : it’s not some lucky combination of drops-talents, It’s just the game that somehow has set the difficulty level at -10 at some point.
It’s so easy it doesn’t even feel like playing or fighting, it’s really the worst, no other diablo game before felt like this.
The ridicolous thing is that at first I thinked “Ok, let me just go in the start screen and choose higher difficulty” but NO, you can’t until you have COMPLETED THE CAMPAIGN, and watching the world map, I’m not even HALFWAY through it.
This is ruining all the experience for me.
Anyone else?
Can anyone of Blizzard read this? The game is awesome, graphics and audio are astounding, the gameplay could be interesting…but the difficulty is non-existent way below the “causal player” level, here we are in a situation where it is plainly BROKEN.
I know the endgame is different, but for now I just don’t care, there’s a lot people out there that want a satisfactory Campaign experience.
Thanks for reading.
EDIT: Ok, I kind of see only now why there aren’t answers, I just didn’t search enough on the web before writing the post…I see now that what I feel in my first playthourgh is very diffuse on the web, even since when the game came out…I started playing now and not on day one whishing AT LEAST the single player campaign would be polished and finished after all this time, but the truth is that it is not. The real shame is that I can’t find evidence that Blizzard is worried by this, because all the efforts are seemengly on the end-game .
I can see why, but they should remember that for sure the majority of who buyed the game are casuals that buyed the game for those 20-50 initial hours. Not all of the player base rushes to the end-game and spends hundred of hours on balancing a character.
The Diablo franchise NEVER was only this. Every chapter before 4 was a great experience even for casuals. I have to admit Diablo4 is only good to watch and hear as of now.
