Can we please have the option to easily switch build?

Why does this have to be this difficult (and why does it have to cost gold)?

I know there is this story of how the devs want players to have meaningful relationships with their characters, but I don’t buy that.

D3 had it right in the end, please give us the option to switch. To me the game is much more fun like that.

Thank you

Agree 100%

I’d even be happy with the option to do a point swap, so I can just switch the ones I like within a given level. Anything but the full refund, respec you have to do every darn time!

Indeed a quality of life that many people will do. But I’ve heard Blizz don’t listen to these kinds of comments.

I actually would not want to have too easy way to change builds because what you just wrote there. Game already feels like theres nothing more than builds and people just change it around and otherwise the game is feeling hollow. I want to have some meaningfulness with the character I made and the build.

D3 did it in the end, ummmm no they did not lol you still had to grind the gear and if it was seasonal you had to grind the gems as well, welcome to diablo.

YES! It feels SO limiting. And I play sorc so it already feels limited xD

Im not sure why this feature wasnt on Day 1.
shameful… best feature of D4 & it’s not even implemented in D4.
yes yes…it will eventually show up in D4…blah blah blah… when they found a way to charge us for it.

no u cant, because they are trying to mix d2 and d3. hardcore and casual, it doesnt work. d4 is a product of exactly that

Solution is easy unlemited stash tabs to make alts ( like in le i made multiple chars for different builds). Make tabs bought for gold and increasing with gold cost (like in le) after every purchase. I think thou they will not do that because there are already sites selling gold for $. I think they will add stash tabs in to battle pass to sell it. Also respecing is a gold sink mechanic so switching between builds would cost you milions on high level chars thats why they dont do what d3 had because it would force them to make free respec or after switching 2 times you would have to regrind gold which is also needed for crafting and that would force you to grind gold for hours = super bore fest which will burnout most of the casual playerbase or force them to buy gold from 3rd party sites (that means less money to spent in blizz cash shop). Generaly till respecing cost gold you will NEVER see system to switch builds on the fly.

The problem isn’t just the difficulty in switching builds.
There’s also the problem that not all classes have many builds that work GREAT in the endgame.

I’m pretty sure they gonna add this, but the question is ofc: when?

They will not because in d3 it costs 0 to respec in here it costs gold so no they will not add it. They said that respecing needs to be meaningfull. They will add scrolls for easier reset, thats it. Also they stated that they will not incorporate highly abusable mechanic to the game where you switch builds on the fly everytime you want to match it to content and make things easier. The most logical and easy to implement solution would be to add more stash tabs so you can stack items for your alts an make building 2nd char a breeze.

I simply disagree with you, because you saying its just a fact.

I will not argue with you because it would be stupid because neither of us cant be certain but will wait and see how it plays. Thou i firmly belive from logical standpoint that they will not do that because last epoch has the same respec system and people beg them for years to switch builds and basicly they said that with that respec system they will not do that. It woul force blizz to redesign whole respect system. If people will play this season and d4 dosent loose huge chunk of player base than this will be at the back of the back of the back their to do list.

To me a character becomes “meaningful” to me for different reasons.

In the Witcher 3, Geralt became meaningful to me because of the well designed story I shared with him. I felt it with him. The build I used did not matter at all.

In wow, my Priest and Druid became meaningful to me because of the journey they went through. The actual connections with real people along the way. From the first guild and the first raids I struggled to heal, to the last raids I tanked even on Mythic for a little bit.
Both of them respecced multiple times per playing session :joy:

Closer to this game, in D3, the only character I felt a bit of a connection with was my female demon hunter (I had male and female characters of each class in the end) BECAUSE she could easily respec into 4 different builds. She felt powerful in every situation.

I currently play a pulverize Druid, but I found a build enabling unique for a different build. If respeccing was easy I would have made a second build and had fun with it. Now it is just a dead drop. I really don’t feel like spending the time and gold on this :joy:

Basically the system of not being able to respec doesn’t add anything “meaningful” to me while at the same time it locks me out of more fun.

What I would like to have in game are (besides many many other things  ):

  • Two types of bank slots - first type separate for current character and second type shared for the whole account
  • Armory where I can save builds (equip, skills, paragon boards) much like wardrobe, where switching builds will be one click action. Regarding price it can be as it is now, i.e. the same as if we all switch manually.

One of the biggest feedbacks in Diablo 3 especially from the Diablo 2 and Diablo community was that builds had no permanence, decisions had no weight, and gold had no value.

These are the same people that constantly flame in the forum at the moment.

So Blizzard added a gold sink they added weight to the choices you make in build design, they gave the rabbid masses exactly what they asked for…

So here we are.

I actually like this change I will try a different build each season as opposed to each other day depending on my mood. Or if I find an amazing item for another build.

Usually plan a build, accrue gold beforehand for the the build change such as selling all gear as opposed to salvaging, then do the build.

I think there is more to making builds carry weight than just lock them behind a gold sink / time sink right!?

Builds carry weight when you get that amazing unique that changes the way you play. When gear and items have complex interactions. When there is depth to the choices. It has to be ingrained in a game.

Furthermore I hate it when games decide for me I cannot do stuff because developers had some idea that doesn’t work in practice.
You can decide to play a different build every season. I want to be able to decide to play a different build every hour.

I love games with console commands :joy:

its tru, maybe something like this

Sure!
Any instant switch system will work for me.
