Am I the only one that finds the character customization severely lacking? I mean, 15 years ago before skyrim this might have been seen as good, but today having a whopping 4 preset faces to choose from which range from barely decent looking to downright ugly is a big meh. (Yeah, it is good that you are able to make an ugly bastard if you want to, but you should be able to do the opposite as well if you so choose) It isn’t as if the hair styles are much better in this regard, there is way too little variety to choose from given that this is a forced MMO. Customization is one of the few things to set yourself apart from the other players.
When it comes to skin color, half the available options look like your char suffers a terminal illness short from passing away while I am unsure if the lighting in the character creation screen is to blame or if its the color options themself. Maybe, just maybe, make a damn character creation screen with more natural lighting.
I know what I wrote sounds harsh, but for this premium price demanded for this title I expect better.

also think it is disapointing… my guess is we do not get free costumization because of political correctness and maybe cash shop transmogs later…
if i want a white hair character i want it white and not lightly dyed… would like to know “their reason” why there is no color wheel with all colors for hair, skin, eyes etc…

I imagine that certain limits are present for reasons of consistency (pink hair and Diablo… it hardly sticks together… well after that, go figure out what they’re going to put in the shop).
Now having more choices would be great indeed!
What bothers me a bit are the proportions of the characters.
I would like to play a sorceress with a strong build or a thinner barbarian, I would have appreciated having this freedom.

Absolutely agree.
I would like to play a sorceress with a strong build or a thinner barbarian
Or a wrinkled old fat mage.

I completely Agree with you! 4 faces only! But the base face shape is the same. They promised amazing character customization in you-tube videos, and now such a big disappointment. games 10-15 years ago had change everything on face, like nose, eyes, eyebrows, lips, ears, head-shape, and every single aspects of these. Big shame of Blizzard. Not even mention the facial hair! OMG, that looks terrible, vibrating, disappairing furry surfaces. In old games looked much better. And where disappeared that barbarian facial hair, which is a big beard without mustache? It was in old videos. Shame.

On the one hand it’s relaxing not having to create 20 hours of characters like in Skyrim, on the other hand it’s disappointing that The Sims 2 gives you more options.

Please Blizzard more options (tastefully done).
The grey beard does not look like human facial hair. It looks like grey cotton candy.
Give some buttons for young, middle age, older…
Where is the braided beard?
Need more faces…

Agreed. Even Diablo Immortal has a slightly better character customization than Diablo IV.
Its fine imo. Games spend way too much time on customisation for faces and hair when 95% of players will play the entire game helmet on with their face and hair covered and 100% of players will play the entire game zoomed out to the max.
People in this thread use Skyrim as an example - but Skyrim is an FPS game, you literally don’t see your face unless you use the janky 3rd person mode.
Not every game needs to have sliders that can make your character have pink hair, fluorescent green skin, an inverted nose, no jaw and disney eyeballs. its nice that every character in the game actually looks like they could be encountered in the game and not in a private server of the game where everyone looks like an alien.
same goes for people that want supermodel druids or fat rogues - it isn’t a life simulator or a dating sim, you don’t need to have your female druid look like your anime crush.
take all of the dev time that people want to go into more faces and fat sliders, and instead spend it on making more enemies, more armour, more environments.
