There’s been a lot of talk about memory leaks or issues with memory for this game.
I just noticed when I tabbed to Chrome and opened a new tab, that it said “Ran into a problem, Oops, out of memory” or something along those lines.
Another user reportedly said the issue could be with some integration with Chrome/Chromium/Google products somehow, I don’t know why, but it would seem that the issues with the memory has some kind of interaction with some Google product, likely Chrome.
I just wanted to report this because I’m not sure it’s been noted before, but this is the first time I’ve seen it happen, ever. And it hasn’t happened when running any other games, ever before. This is the first time in my life that Chrome says 32GB of RAM isn’t sufficient. And yes, I have a few tabs up, but not that many that 32GB of RAM + 16GB of pagefily.sys shouldn’t be sufficient.
There’s also a noticeable network delay when pinging battle.net (average between 154 and 186ms) but still a 0% packet loss.
When pinging Google, I got an average 10ms, 0% loss.
Pinging a local news website in my country (aftonbladet.se) I got 1ms and 0% loss.
To me this suggests that the entire battle.net network infrastructure is either overstrained, suffers from loops, packet loss or high response times in itself.
It’s hard to fathom that a multi-billion dollar corporation can’t provide its customers with stable servers for their most anticipated products, in over 2 decades. Not a single launch of any Blizzard product has been smooth and stable ever since online gaming became a thing. I understand there’s some difficulties and challenges with this, but come on guys, it’s been 20 years and you know what to expect, you have the sales numbers so you should be able to prepare for X amount of people to connect at launch. But it’s always the same, crashes, disconnects, servers down, authentication issues, high ping and delay so characters die for no reason constantly which is a poor experience for someone hyped for a new release, stability and compability issues, no official word from you despite issues being present for hours or even days sometimes, customers often being told it’s their system or networks fault for the issues only to buy time for the public statement once you have something to blame, sudden DDOS attacks are somehow always the reason for the issues; you have to be the most DDOS targeted company in the entire world, there must be a world record for you to hold, considering how often and how many times you have been the ‘target’ of DDOS attacks, etc, etc, etc.
I can go on forever, listing all the nonsense you have done over the years, poorly placed band-aids to cover up the thousand cuts you keep inflicting on your excited customers, but my point is; when are you going to actually do better and stop talking about it?
Take some responsibility, hold yourselves accountable, that’s what creates trust. All these excuses to why your products never hold up to your own promises, just makes you look bad and drives your loyal customers away from you.
I know people who’s decided to cut ties entirely with you by demanding deletion of all personal data in accordance with GDPR, because they’re so darned sick of how you portray yourselves and always blame some external source for all the problems you have, both internally and externally. Is this really the kind of relationship you are trying to create with your decades long loyal customers? Pushing them to the point of basically implementing a virtual restraining order? Come on guys, wake up and read the room.
It’s time to get things in order and live up to your word, to your promises. Or stop promising things and be plain and blunt about it, tell us the truth of it.
When will these issues be fixed?
Network stability and game crashing are two game breaking issues which has already caused a severe decline in active players and don’t expect to get them back with the first season and a few feature updates in the next 6 months. Once people are done, they’re done. We don’t come back, we don’t have the patience with these excuses anymore. Have you really not noticed?
