Class power tier lists

I’ve played every class except the Rogue, so I’m using the input from a friend here to create my list.

  1. Necromancer
  2. Sorceress
  3. Rogue
  4. Barbarian
  5. Druid

I really hope Blizzard looks into combat logs (like DPS, time spent per combat encounter) for the different classes. Playing Necromancer after leveling a Druid was like night and day. Literally any skill in the Necromancer tree felt like it was powerful and it specializations were interesting. Druid felt completely opposite. I’ve tried practically every skill and the only semi-powerful one was Pulverize due to the Overpower effect. It’s an incredibly tedious way to deal damage though since the counter which triggers the overpower requires you to be healthy and it completely resets if you become (uh)healthy.

I fear the problem is deeper than scaling their damage. Bosses and encounters often took several minutes for me to complete as a Druid whereas Necro or Sorc simply breezed through them. Even increasing the Druids damage output by 100% wouldn’t put their kill speed on par with the casters. They’re too resource starved, slow, and constrained in how they deal damage.

Agree with your tier list. Barb and druid just have to run around and use their first skill all the time. They are both heavely dependent of legendaries to make their skills usefull.

Yeah exactly. But I’d argue that it’s bad class design to rely on legendaries. Especially this early in the game. The class should feel fun and fast without having to rely on external effects which are available much later in the game. Legendaries shouldn’t fix classes through vastly OP effects. They should unlock interesting new mid/late-game builds which makes harder difficulties manageable.

This list also seems to be the order / amount you get your class quest (I didn’t play Sorc so I may be wrong about that). I wonder if barb and Druid would be stronger if they could actually do those quests.

imagine creating a char tier list based on a level 25 beta version xD

wait what?! builds rely on items like legendaries!?! never heard of that, insta refund!

rogue need pets, like DH in D3, otherwise can not play ranged.

You can about early game and there is big flaws. Sorc hydra is good without any legendary. NEcro skels are good without any legendary. Druid companions are USELESS without a legendary. The one I got and give them +100% dmg and +1 comp just make them feel… NORMAL. They don’t delete mods or boss but at least participate in the dps. There is a problem here.

Yes especially You combine it with a legendary that turn them into werewolfes and give them 200% more damage and spread rabies. This class is useless without legos. Got another lego that extend bulwark for 6 sec(!!) where the ability is only 3 sec. How is this good design if the skill is worse than the lego.

That’s not the problem, legendaries will always make skills better, the problem is when the base skill is useless alone. It’s not a druid or barb problem alone, sorce have lot of meh base skills too, but there is lot of quality of life skills, like anything ranged vs melee.

Gameplay up to level 25 tells us a lot about the feel of the class. Like I said earlier, I believe even if the damage output of the Druid was increased by 100%, the Druids kill speed would still not be on par with Necro/Sorc. That in itself should tell you a ton. What bonuses would be required from a legendary in order to make the class viable? The bonuses would have to be ridiculously strong. Like I said previously, I hope Blizzard attempts to make a class viable and feel strong and fast without having to wait for ridiculous legendary bonuses like “increases the damage and AoE radious of skill X by 3000% and increases your movement speed by 200% after using it”. It would feel like a cheap cop-out in my opinion.

You got this wrong it’s like this:

  1. Necro
  2. Necro
  3. Necro
  4. Necro
  5. Sorc
  6. Sorc
  7. Rogue
  8. Barb (Up spme ranks if 400 ilvl equipped and masterys pushed)
  9. Druid

Necro is pretty much broken with the Legys and if the nerf the droprates (by high emand of the 1% elitist “I don’t care about anyone but me!” players and their fanboys) things will even out some more while Barb And Druid will be in an even worse state other classes will have a bit harder times as well but not as much ^^. If you strip all the “Mist” legys from the Necro or moake them procc less things will even out pretty fast.

The problem is: Right now there are not many options and there are clear “Best Builds!” and “Best Skills!” and you better use them to level because going a different way to level up is a waste of time… as sad as it is. Right now we have 0 build diversity if you don’t want to play a half baked build on trash tier level.

That’s the point of the beta is to gather data. So why wouldn’t you have Beta Tier lists?

because we can’t play to level 100 and don’t know the big scope. What is unabalnced now could make a class even more broken later on if they try to fix said class with the metrics they have right now.
