Combat gore completely removed... and nobody cares?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the game so far. The graphics, gameplay and even story is amazing.

What bothers me is that the gore during combat was (almost) completely removed and it kills the feeling of total destruction and immersion in the fight.

Comparing to D2/D3 or to D4 2019 gameplay, the final D4 release does not have a single drop of blood after killing a group of enemies on snow and it just looks weird in R rated game. Killing a mob feels like killing it in Torchlight… no blood, no gore, nothing.

I don’t even understand why it was removed and why there are not many more complaints about this. The game has ton of gore in cutscenes and in environment, so it is surely not reduced because of rating.

Is it bug or does anybody know why it was removed? I am playing on PS5 if that makes any difference.

Noticed this as well, could use with some sprucing up, especially noticeable on some abilities when you kill an enemy the body will disappear in about 5 seconds (bone spear, some rogue kills etc)

I still hope they will put it back once (or is it currently bugged?)… They could make it optional via a settings in menu if they removed it simply because it was too gory. Anyway I would love to see the combat like it was in the D4 2019 gameplay… that would bring MUCH more fun to gameplay itself, especially as melee character.

Killing the (quickly disappearing) mobs without any visual impact is seriously weird, especially in Diablo game.

There’s plenty of gore in this game in many forms. Try different ablitity with each character. Then you have your own perference that may getting in the way of enjoying gore in this game. It’s not as heavy like the other games but it has plenty.

What bothers me the most is the silent removal comparing to the great looking 2019 gameplay with zero comments from Blizzard.

If they already implemented it 4 years ago, I don’t see any reason why not keep it in the game (as it is 18+ anyway) and make it configurable via menu settings so that people could play either the current “torchlight” version or “diablo” version with some juicy effects.

Would love to see any comment from Blizzard on this subject.

This removal you speak of do you have a legit soruce for this because Diablo series is all about the gore. I’m not sure you understand what gore is and how it can appear in many forms throughout the game by selecting a class and ablilite/skill. The effects on monsters is more than D1, and maybe D3. I know you’re looking for a specific style of gore you’re not seeing in the game perhaps you reading a wrong outlet on this. As each Diablo game comes out there will be gore changes in the game base on what the Devs feels like.

If you played any Diablo games as well D4 you will know this by seeing it. D3 lacks the effects due to being cartoon like that didn’t fit with the series so they went back to the serious route. There’s more than 5 monsters kill effect perhaps play with all to see everything?

I am speaking about combat gore / effects / cutting of parts of the mobs etc. during the actual combat.

Check Diablo 4 gameplay from official Blizzard source from year 2019 and compare it to what you see now in final release… simply said, they removed those bloody effects completely. And I would like to know why…

limb dismemberment has to be tracked over the network. that’s a lot of bandwidth with different things being cutoff and the physics applied for everyone in viewing distance
not to mention the animation needed for the dead bodies piling up on the floor all with different numbers of missing limbs

its certainly not because the game isnt gory, because it definitely is.

but i can definitely see why it wasnt applied to online combat
