Comms between hardcore and non hardcore characters

Yesterday my mate started a hardcore character (good luck to the mad fool) and we tried to use party chat so I could monitor how he was doing.

Well, imagine our surprise when the game told us that standard and hardcore characters can’t chat to each other - grouping up obviously is self explanatory - the character types don’t match but simple comms?

Please Blizzard explain why we can’t just simply chat to each other - and if I may be so bold to ask you to implement this feature at some point down the line (ie sooner rather than later) so that people with HC characters can talk to standard characters.

I have been wondering about the chat system as well, currently the way it works is you can only chat with people playing in your “shard” which means like 5-10 players max in the “local” chat.

If you can’t type to hardcore players as softcore either it feels like the chat system is just really bad and basically non existant. It’s really weird to me how good the chat system was in diablo 3 and then we get 1/10 of that implemented in diablo 4. WTF
