First of all, I would like to say that I prefer a tactical/strategic approach in games over action and skillless mob pushing as in diablo 3 <1k hours> or poe (3k hours) and I am one of those players who like a combat system in which the knowledge of positioning, using resources and taking care of them has meaning, and that’s what Diablo 4 offers.
I liked the slower, more tactical way of fighting smaller groups of mobs where you resource managment and what skills you have really matters for you and you party. (for example my warcry saved my friend more than 1 time which never happen in lifetime in D3) supporting is viable.
this opens the door for us to make tanks and supports really matter in the game and that the game in 99.5 is not about being an unstoppable locomotive and forces you to cooperate in some cases at least.
Which, of course, will not appeal to players who just like action, e.g. fans of D3 and POE, but it opens a much larger door to attracting all players who rebounded from poe and many of them, like me, were waiting for a game like diablo 4 and I hope that END game somehow will not speed up the game and that the above-mentioned things will continue to be important, that it will be much slower, tactical and will force the player to think about what he is doing.
A lot of people complain about the UI - for me it was ok ( also it’s not finished so it’s ok ).
As for the tree, it has potential and from what I saw from the announcement, the tree is truncated in beta so it’s hard to judge it, but I’ve found more builds on the barbarian than D3 has so far.
I also didn’t encounter any critical bugs blocking my gameplay or making it unpleasant, which is also rare in the gaming industry.
character floats few pixel above the ground is the most visible bug.
It’s very good that the game doesn’t have such cosmic numbers.
The locations are so well drawn that I stopped every now and then to watch the details.
Turpism in all its glory that fills the void inside the human being.
Itemization is much, much better than in D3 and things like taking legendary properties out of items and forging them into gold is a very good thing.
i wish game mechanics force on player to build on various stats and do not let players to invest into one stat brainlessly like in D3 where all of stuff goes to crit.dmg.
I hope that gold items will be the strongest and that getting one encore of a gold item around which it will be possible to modify it will require the player 50-60-100 hours of active play.
and to the final world boss fight and area quick-events.
Diablo 4 has a great MMORPG vibe. i feel that depressive in good looking world - and roaming around the lands with strangers makes it more “shiny” fills some “loneliness” that comes from fighting with forces of evil with some hope.
I really liked this formula and I think it is well thought out, well constructed and I haven’t encountered any bugs around it either.
The world boss was very hard and once again required cooperation between players.
My barbarian as support for cheers worked wonderfully here.
It was very satisfying to speed up all the grouped people with shouts and heal them on the world boss and see them survive thanks to me.
and this was due to slower game that opens new variety of builds.
i want game to be more, more harder and even more force players to use defensive skills than putting all of the dmg skills in the bar.
Love it.
I hope the game doesn’t change much.
