Please blizzard give an option to turn/toggle it off - even better would be to choose for each skill individually if it should auto aim or not.
Leap/teleport/dash just auto aim on destroyable objects and are way shorter distance than max range.

And here’s one where it changes direction to dash into scaffolding instead of the Butcher! dash auto aim bad - YouTube ’
Some range builds felt much worse with auto aim compared to just aiming where you facing.
If it stays like this only melee builds and things like chain lightning sorc where aiming doesn’t matter will be playable for console players.

Well, the basic issue is that with controller you will have less control pun intended) over aimed skills. Always.
The correct solution, considering D4 is cross-platform with PvP is to allow mouse + keyboard on consoles (they already have controller support on PC…).
Leap, Teleport, Hydra, Blizzard and generally all aimed skills are going to suffer a LOT without mouse + keyboard. Entire builds will be automatically nerfed by using a controlled and PvP will be skewed massively towards M+K players.
Not to mention the fundamental problem that you only have one thumb (on each hand), so either you can’t, AT THE SAME TIME, move and cast 4 skills (right stick for movement) or you can’t aim (right stick for aiming) and cast 4 skills with a controller, take your pick (on Xbox, not sure what the PS controller config is).
I really hope they set this up, it is hugely irritating having my skills do a 180 on me even when I am “aiming” in the opposite direction. I do believe the only fix is to allow an individual switch enabled maybe in the assign skill menu to individually set auto aim. Otherwise other skills would become useless with a controller.
God I hope they fix this. It adds more balance issues for console vs pc pvp too
i feel that targeting in general worked better in diablo 3
i dont recall necromancer summons, or targeted skills attacking scenery or distant things anywhere near as much
I have experienced multiple times when interacting with objects because it has the same button as the skills. Instead of picking up for example a bloodstone in the dungeon, it activates the skill at whatever target it can find. It is also very frustrating when trying to pick up drops when there is mobs around where you need to kill everything before you can do that.
I would love to turn it off and instead of doing a auto turn when I do not want to, manually point where I want to and if there is anything to use my skill on where I am pointing, use the skill else interact with whatever I try to.

There is an option for this in settings either in game or control. Look for auto aim to unselect it. It is on for me by defualt where I notice trying to aim on another monster wasn’t working it was foucs what is in front of me.
Agree with this one entirely. You can split out the interact and basic skill slot but there are not enough buttons on the controller to be able to have a different interact button to skill button. The amount of times I’m stood in a pack of mobs trying to pick up a bloodstone instead of using skills…
Auto aim seems weird to me, sometimes it seems to auto target when I don’t push any direction on the left stick. Other times it seems to require me to push a certain direction to fire in the last remaining mobs direction

The last statement is how it feels for me too. There’s an option to turn it off in the settings.
Agreed! The auto aim is insufferably, game-breakingly terrible. I can’t even override it by aiming at the intended target with the stick(s)!
I’ll be spamming Rapid Fire at an elite, and my toon will just turn (as much as 90° sometimes!) to waste my Energy on a non-threat.
Blizzard, fix this! It wasn’t a problem with D3…

Add Mouse & Keyboard for console. Simple solution. New Xbox SX has the ability for this so why not add it if its already a PC game?
