[CRASH] Data Error : Diablo IV detected corrupted data and was unable to automatically repair the damage

The game will crash with an error that says:

Data Error
“Diablo IV detected corrupted data and was unable to automatically repair the damage. Please run Scan and Repair using the Battle.net
application. It can be found in the Options menu for the game.”

-Delete and reinstall the beta on the same drive as the Battlenet application.
-Delete and reinstall the beta on another drive.
-x 3 Scan and repair of the application, which finds no errors after restarting the PC.
-Scanning my disks, no errors.
-Running as administrator.
-Make sure all drivers were up to date.
-Disabling programs like razer, steam, edge, msi …

how to solve the problem ? is there a need for a new version of the game ?

It’s annoying to pay a premium for a game you can’t play. We are not in beta

had same issue, try to move diablo to other disk, its issue with some samsung m2 disks

Hi, I stabilized the problem by lowering the graphics resolution to low/medium. I suspect it has something to do with the memory management of the graphics card.

thanks

Same here.
Please fix.

Same issue here. Installed on a 1TB WDC WDS100T2B0A-00SM50 initially, couldnt get it to launch, kept getting the Whoops! something broke error. Attempts to run a fix failed with the same error.

Uninstalled and re-installed on a Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB, installed and played for a couple of hours no problem. Quit the game.

Came back an hour later, back into the loop of

Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.

Error Code: BLZBNTAGT00000BB8

What gives? £89.99 and cant even play it

Had no issues during the betas. My game keeps crashing with Corrupted data. Nothing is working to fix this. Going to try going back to an old graphics driver update.

Yesterday night started playing after server open. around one hour gametime game carshed: corrupted data. Cant find any error logs in d4 folder though.
This morning were an update and started with a scan and repair. lets see how the game goes after.

Same issue for me. Sometimes I get 45min, sometimes I get 2. Game will not star t after the error unless I do a reboot.

Same here. Hanging in a “can`t update” loop. Hoped that with the standard edition launch some fix will be released. Bought deluxe for nothing. Thank you for no reaction Blizz

Same here, no problem since friday but yesterday with the last update, i have corrupted data for no reason, after 1H or 2H.

Same here, every couple of hours it crashes with corrupted data, if it doesn’t just crash to desktop or get out of memory (with 32 GB ram and 16 GB on GPU that shouldn’t be a problem)

I had this issue ( “detected corrupted data” after login screen shows briefly). Was able to fix it by reinstalling/moving the install to a different hard drive location. I think someone else mentioned this was their issue too. So maybe something got corrupted on the original drive it was installed.

For me it simply does not work as a get the “Game initialization Failed: U” error.

I also have a NVM hard drive and have reported this to Blizzard for a while now but nothing is done.

It’s been 4 days since I cannot play the game and this is incredibly frustrating!!!

Out of curiosity, visit the windows “Event Viewer” and just check why the game has crashed. I checked my logs and it was becasue I had lowered my vurtal memory to 150Mb, game wanted 17Gb, This was my solution and may not be others.

“Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Tools\Event Viewer”

Increased the Virtual memory size and it still doesn’t work. Again, all my other games (Including blizzard ones) are working properly, Diablo 4 used to work without any issues also but after the update that happened 3 days ago it simply does not start anymore

Check the “Event Viewer” and post the crash info that relates to the time frame the game crashed.

What are you PC specs ? what GPU/s are you running ?

Event Viewer: Event Viewer - Pastebin.com

Heya  Ducu,

I dont know what your level of computer skills are so forgive me if I’m not detailed or to detailed enough about some things, this is a difficult crash to handle because there are so many things that can cause this type of crash. This is all an option and I am not asking you to do any of this, its all a suggestion only.

  1. You might need to go to you manufactures web page and get all the latest drivers and update; (please check if driver page is correct for your PC),
    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t15p-type-20tn-20tm/downloads/driver-list

  2. Use DDU under safemode to uninstall all sound and graphic drivers (Intel & Nvidia); https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html prior to re-installing the sound and GPU drivers.

  3. Make sure you do not have rouge applications running in the background like HWiNFO64 and other monitoring software besides afterburner or RTSS, some software can cause confliting.

  4. I run the basic Microsoft drivers for sound and ssd, “they have best compatibility but basic functionality to so up to you to run full manufacturer or Microsoft drivers,” remembering that Microsoft drivers are made by the manufacturers but with basic functionality.

  5. Open power shell with admin privileges and copy/paste this “winget upgrade --all --include-unknown” hit Enter, this will run windows built in software updater and force update everything software on you PC, “probably the best trick in the admin book tbh .”

  6. I use Driver Fusion by Treexy for driver updates, FYI driver updates don’t always = problem solved or fix bugs but will help with security holes, driver updates are an optional one with the exception of GPU drivers.

  7. To run CHKDSK on a different drive, type “chkdsk [drive letter]: /x /r”, replacing “[drive letter]” with the letter of the drive you want to scan. For example, to repair the C drive, enter “chkdsk C: /x /r”. ( can take some time so suggest making a coffee and relax ).

  8. Check and repair any badly installed “. NET Framework and Microsoft Visual C++” installs (usually a few installed). Run “iwr -useb https://christitus.com/win | iex” in Terminal as Admin, got to config and select “All .Net Frameworks (2,3,4)” then click install, can also select “.Net and Visual C++” installs under the install tab Ref: Microsoft.

Many different applications use the “8.” applications to operate and any out of date can cause issues not only with every day software but with games and drivers.

All this is only my opinion and is all optional
just trying to help a fellow gamer out

*Also is this a work laptop because damn “Available Physical Memory 7.30 GB” you have some hogs in there
