Dude, stop being condescending. This is simple, the game worked and it doesn’t work anymore after the update so it is due to something they changed with the update. Besides that, if you meet the minimum specs, have all the drivers up to date the game should work, period, and this is not a cheap game made by an obscure company
Read what customer support representative said just few posts above:
"When system shuts down or restarts, or you get a BSOD (BlueScreen) error it usually indicates a driver or a hardware problem (overheating, power delivery issues, overclocking, defective hardware, etc.).
Also in some cases BSOD errors can be caused by software conflicts. For example applications with overlay functionality (Discord, Overwolf, MSI Afterburner, NZTX Cam would be a few examples) can interfere with the game or graphics drivers."
And it works, for millions of players. But not on crappy hardware. Especially if someone have inadequate cooling, never cleans their case, or use Gigabyte card or 250W chinese PSU. Game cannot be blamed for your PC shutting down, simples. Your PC must NEVER shutdown during normal operation. If it does, it’s faulty.
This is not my case,
For me what is happening is that I get a “game initialization failed:U” erorr message when I try to launch the game.
While I do agree with some of the thing you are saying I do see some issues about how the situation is handled: I do not have a shitty PC, I have an I7, 16 GB RAM, with NVidia GeForce Gtx 1050 which basically meets the medium requirements for the game; I played both Beta versions of the game and had absolutely no crashes or other issues; I have the early access version and I have managed to play (on the same laptop with the same configuration) the game for about 5 days without any crashes or issues but 6 days ago there was an update and since then I keep getting the error mentioned above “game initialization failed:U” which to me is a clear thing that the update made the game unplayable for me; Now, if the game was working fine on my configuration and now it’s simply just not starting doesn’t that seem that this is an issue caused by Blizzard? If they decided that some things will not be supported anymore (after the launch and different than advertised) than isn’t this a bit of a false advertisment?
I don’t know and I can’t help you, sorry. You replied to me, so I replied to you.
Perhaps you could create your own thread to get help regarding game not starting at all due to error message.
so its our fault smartass? computer crashes only in d4! i play other games all the time! most of them new, there is nothing wrong with them! stop being an corporete slave!

You have no idea how wrong you are, that’s a perk of stupidity.
Let me explain again.
Hardware like Gigabyte 3080 Ti has hidden flaw, it is faulty just not dead yet. New modern game like D4 is pushing it to the limit because it’s using ALL available resources. And guess what, GPU manufacturers like Gigabyte overclocked cards too much because they did not anticipated games using all available resources. 3080Ti cards are pulling 400W that’s is massive overclock of allowed TDP by Nvidia, components on the board are not surviving this. That8is happening even if you decrease TDP in MSI Afterburner. Faulty hardware which must be replaced, just waiting for death to happen.
Watch JayZTwoCents videos on New World game which also bricked GPUs two years ago. He did video on D4 bricking too, his conclusions the same like before. Same problem then, some problem now!! Faulty hardware.
Some people didn’t learned. And offended noobs are salty because Diablo is killing their GPU ![]()
thats a perk of stupidity you have! a very limited amount of card and card owners faced these errors! so you decided all cards faulty? i watch Jay and these cards were EVGA not Gigabyte! And i dont remember telling you my pc specs! Good luck living in dream world! my pc is fine it wont die until you die! im getting stupid errors because lazy blizzard didnt optimize game! i dont have problems in other games!
Ok you watched one video on New World now watch new videos on Gigabyte and diablo. Same problem again, different manufacturer! It will never stop until GPU manufacturers learn to not overclock cards too much beyond their physical limits. This is what causing bricking. New World, Diablo, and tomorrow yet another game which is using all GPU resources and pushing faulty hardware to the death edge! Don’t buy crap hardware then you will have no issues.
here is the crap things “you and diablo 4” nothing wrong with my pc, i can play other games without an issue.
You will never understand what is causing this until you watch videos explaining it or read technical material on it. Diablo 4 is the only game pushing the GPU to the limit right now, just like NEW World was two years ago with different cards. But next year you will have another game doing the same, until eventually all faulty GPUs are dead. Game is not at fault, it is a hardware problem. But good luck with your gaming, I don’t care what hardware you have, at least I understand the problem, I know I am not affected by it, I know what mitigations are even if I would. But you probably have Nvidia gpu and maybe Gigabyte product, and now are scared of your GPU getting bricked or maybe it happened already. I could not care less, about someone who can’t think clearly. you admit there is problem with game…
Okay, so Blizzard says it not their product causing issues. Then please explain why i can play Diablo IV for six hours non stop (tested) without any isseus as long as i stay out of dungeons. (Cellars/mini dungeons i can enter without any problems.)
But when i set foot into a dungeon, including the scripted ones in the campaign, my pc insta shuts down within a few encounters with elites or bosses! If it was driver or hardware problems it would happen everywhere. If it’s faulty coding…

Faulty game coding shutdown your PC, you are silly ![]()
Faulty game code can maybe crash the game to the desktop, or bug the graphics driver so you have to reset. But it cannot press power button for you! Only your hardware can do that, or shutdown command from your start menu!
Your computer is pushed totally to the edge, something it wrong within the hardware. Some people crashing in cutscenes, some at NPC vendor, some at character selection screen! Doesn’t matter where, your PC already has a fault and computer game is exposing this fault. Find it and fix it, don’t moan here in forums, we don’t want to hear it no more. Blizzard doesn’t care about your faulty machine anyway. Sorry it that sound harsh dude, but that’s hard reality for you.
so 5700x with noctua cooling at ~60*C sapphire 7900xt, 1000w corsair psu isnt enough for diablo4?
Who said it isn’t? This is your first post in this thread, maybe give me some context?
You are in “omg Ima overheting blizz fix it” camp, or reasonable guy who understand how hardware work?
i have the same issue, random crashes or after i exit d4, my computer freezes and im forced to hard reset, only happens to d4. Hope a blue can help us relay this to the devs.
i checked whocrashed report and it says the latest graphic card driver was the culprit. i didnt crash on server slam or the first 2 version of the game since early access. but recently i kept crashing / pc hard lock after updating to the latest nvidia driver.
You don’t get this kind of bs when you explain your fault to a mechanic for the likes of a car displaying faults or issues, I’ve yet to hear of anyone telling the mechanic, it’s absolutely nothing I’ve done, and my car is god tier there is zero percent chance any fault is caused by anyone other than who I’m currently annoyed at atm. It gets really old really fast with absolutely everyone thinking their computer is
the incarnation of perfection given the thousands of variables between each and every system.
Diablo 4 is very memory hungry and piss poor at memory management. Even if you have 32GB RAM it will allocate everything and leave everything unstable.
Even if you have SSD disk you need to enable page file. Without it diablo will crash very frequently and crash any background applications including operating system itself.
When pagefile virtual memory is enabled then other processes can still run properly. But remember - having pagefile running on SSD is not healthy for it. Enable it on HDD if possible.
My system has 32GB of Ram and during The Early Access and Public Beta it would use 95% of this on High settings, to be fair the game individually was using 22GB the rest was the OS, it seemed to not want to flush unneeded memory until there was no free memory then it would make room and utilize all it could again, this was slightly better on the Server Slam, however in the released game my system uses on average 16GB while the game is running with the same settings, I did not think this was an issue still.
