It started with a renderworker 3 crash… which i experienced in the first beta tests already and D4 also blue screened by computer or just straight up hard crashes my GPU, that my computer forces a full restart.
Now on release i thought this is fixed and have the newest driver installed… but no it is not and i have no idea what i should do.
I would really like to play this game, but how can this one single game do this to my Computer/GPU? I can play Darktide with RT and stuff on and nothing happens, but a game that was made in a way that should even run smoothly on low settings on my old computer is crashing an entire system/GPU?
System:
Win11
32GB RAM
Gigabyte 3080 OC
Ryzen 5900x
I would really love to hear any actual solution, i did install all drivers, yes everything is up to date, i did repair on the game install and even let windows check itself, no it is not getting overly hot.
I know this game has caused actual hardware damage, so i start to have some worries.

The same thing happens to me, the game is crashing often. I have everything updated. My only difference with you is that the game crashes and gives a blizzard error to reopen the game. It doesn’t give me a blue screen at the moment.
My System:
Win11
32GB RAM
AMD sapphire RX 6800XT
Ryzen 7700x
This is the same as what happened to me in the first beta.

Yeap! Crash every 3 minut.
same problem here, tried everything, scan and repair, uninstall and reinstall and all shown on google. computer is brand new. bought the expensive release to play early and i’m very uppset about it
Same here. What are others system specs? Mine are ryzen 7 5800x and RX6900XT, windows 11, 64GB of ram. After I read this post I think that MAYBE issue has something to do with Ryzen systems. Today when I played D4 computer already restarts itself three times.
When system shuts down or restarts, or you get a BSOD (BlueScreen) error it usually indicates a driver or a hardware problem (overheating, power delivery issues, overclocking, defective hardware, etc.).
Also in some cases BSOD errors can be caused by software conflicts. For example applications with overlay functionality (Discord, Overwolf, MSI Afterburner, NZTX Cam would be a few examples) can interfere with the game or graphics drivers.
Our scope of support is quite limited for such issues as they are generally not caused by games. I would suggest the following:
If you keep experiencing system shutdowns/restarts or BSOD error you may need to reach out to a local qualified technician for further assistance.
We’ll also keep an eye on additional reports and see if we can find anything wrong with the game client that could cause this.
blizzard incompetence causes this not our computer

This is a typicial response i could get on any kind of error… it crashed my GPU and there’re multiple reports of it even killing GPUs and i had problem along the lines every beta except the last one, since i didn’t play it at all and hoped it would all be good by then.
If it really were a computer specific problem, shouldn’t this happen on more than just D4?
Having similar issues but with an Intel based system. Was crashing constantly in the very first Icefall questline at same room each time. Got round that by disabling DLSS & Reflex on my 3080ti. Now it just crashes at random. No set area etc. Thankfully managed to reach the first waypoint in Vyashad so don’t have to run around for 5 minutes to get to where it crashed last. Machine is not overheating or anything. Can run Furmark & Prime95 for hour without any issues. No other application or game has problems, just D4. Even fired up D3 for the first time in a year this morning for an hour to make sure that it was just D4 being the problem.
Everything is as up to date as it can be & even dialled back some settings in the UEFI such as XMP etc to make sure that that wasn’t the issue (even removed 2 of the 4 RAM modules to ensure that wasn’t the issue). CPU was repasted not long ago so that is all fine & obviously if that was the issue Furmark & Prime95 wouldn’t run for more than a few minutes! I get higher resource usage & temperatures encoding video which is flawless yet D4 throws toys out of pram when it wants to.
If this carries on after official launch on 6 June, then will be putting in a ticket for a complete refund for the game & platinum/cosmetics purchased. I could understand if other applications were also crashing, but D4 is the only one.

yeah i think of a refund myself after my holyday if blizz doesnt fix THEIR problem
So, i set the game textures down to medium and that at least seems to keep the game from crashing in a awful way, i had still 3 crashes so far, but that is way over 8h of playing, so a much better record than last night.
2x were a 1000-ID error, which only windows tracked and 1 fenris error “jobworker7”.
The fenrirs and one of the 1k ID ones happened on a Legion event (also, it will respawn you on a new shard, so i missed out).
Besides that i monitored my GPU temps:
60C° normal
Memory junction was like 80- peak 90C° (thanks Nvidea for the great cooling on the junction)
and hotspot peaked at like 70C°, but mostly 60C° to below 60C°.
Nothing too special there.
EDIT: Right after a boss fight just now it crashed my GPU again, black screens and restart.
Love it, im really enjoying having spent 100 bucks on this game so far.

Yeah it’s funny for me too, I can play literally anything else, but once D4 starts loading, the system is dead. Sooooo glad I paid for preorder.
I’ve played for 12h with no break, and I didn’t had any issue, and from the specs you have in there, i have a feeling that is because of win11, I have win10, and my specs are lower then yours, i play on high options and worked like a charm
I’m having the black screens and hard restart issue as well. Started out being just near the entrance to the first dungeon in the prelude. Every. Single. Time. Now its just random, but ALWAYS in a graphics intensive skirmish.
It appears that its mainly happening on AMD systems with AMD graphics cards (Ryzen 5900 cpu with 6800M graphics - an ASUS ROG laptop).
I managed to stop the crashing in the prelude by not using Discord.
I have the latest adrenaline drivers, windows updates, peripheral (logitech etc) updates, Asus updates, run the game repair, but still the random GPU crashes persist.
Interestingly, an identical laptop (same brand and model, with same internals) has no issue.
I’m having the same issue
crashing at random and huge lag spikes when using waystones or teleports
gpu, cpu and ram usage never exceeds 50%
tried driver updates, fresh install and basically everything but formatting my pc
After this edited by moderation start of D4, my computer now seems to experiences crashes even in WoW, where i was just standing AFK.
Diablo 4 literally made my PC start edited by moderationitself, i had no problems until the night i started to play D4 on launch.
I can’t afford new computer parts, this computer isn’t even 3 years old, everything was new and now im looking at this and all im thinking is how i should’ve just avoided D4.
It was a bugcheck 1001 btw according to event viewer.
I do not recommend playing D4 if people experience similar crashes.

Check chkdsk. Due to bed optimizatiom Diablo 4 is causing instability. System files are being corrupted and this lead to damage Your hardware.
After chkdsk if system will find corrupted files You can be sure that your Computer is not stable anymore.
Diablo 4 is making power spikes/consumption from normal to extreme in a second. This is not normal and provide to fast hardware degradation. Conclusion is - Diablo 4 is killing PC.
Also my laptop that never had problem befor died in Diablo 4 when i used npc. Fans went crazy and laptop turn off. It was not hot, there was no burn smell. That voltage spikes caused be bugged vendor/npc killed it and due to lack of warranty i am without any pc/laptop.
PC will come in next two weeks.
Laptop is lost.
hmm, all yall have over 32 gb of ram same as myself and all my poor friends are having no issues with 8-16gb gonna remove some and try it.
Why do the mods think it was okay to edit and then lock my latest comment?
It did blackscreen both my screens and caused my computer to behave in a bad way.
I seem to have gotten it back to sort of work normally again, new bios install and DDU installed the GPU drivers again.
Using my swears is pretty much a good use in situation like this and doesn’t need to edited them out, but also made no sense of my latest comments in some way.
Also after i did some stuff, i haven’t tried D4 again simply fearing it will cause problems again.
I even looked through the minidumps made by windows and it mainly seems to support the fact, that it was doing things to my GPU drivers and GPU.
YOUR computer crashing is YOUR problem. MY computer does not crash at all, I’ve yet to experience single game/computer instability while playing this game. But I know my IT sh1t, not 15 years old offended teenager like many here. And I don’t use Greedvidia or Gigabyte graphics cards.
