Doesn’t mean they don’t want to create a good game. Diablo 4 is a decent game that feels smooth, but it needs a better endgame. I think Path of Exile 2 will give them a lot of ideas—it’s a win-win for us, really. I’m playing both games, and you can’t beat Blizzard’s art. However, the content updates haven’t been good, and the game is lacking.
They need to figure out what’s not working and why they aren’t able to push out content efficiently. If I were them, I’d try to analyze what’s happening in their pipeline and identify what’s halting progress. For example, redoing a new type of cursed chest event and using that as some sort of seasonal content where you just stand in a room not moving isn’t enough.
I work as an environment artist, and I know that one person can easily rig a character in less than a few hours. You could create ten monster variations in ZBrush in a day. Textures are just slapped on because they’re PBR-based—skin shaders, leather, and metal are quick and straightforward to apply.
What I want to know is how they can improve. Honestly, they need to set new demands on how they work because it’s clear something isn’t functioning properly. They have a lot of money to spend, they have a lot of developers, but they are not focused. Path of Exile 2 will set the bar for what Diablo 4 can be, and it will 100% be good for Diablo if Blizzard steps up and makes the necessary changes.
Because they don’t have to try. It’s a B2P game with legendary ARPG brand. Whatever they make, people buy it. They have sold tens of milions copies of a game which was in a beta version state.
Let’s hope even less people will fall into the next expansion trap. Once again there will be lazy story telling, scarcity of content and advertisement like the game is super cool. Rod “Diablo-like” Fergusson is not a good team leader. He is unable to inspire his team and his “Diablo-like” twitter post showed how bitter he is.
It’s sad people are just realizing that after the tweet, considering what he’s done to Gears of War.
D4’s content nowadays is selling teemu crap as “merch”… I’m not even mad anymore - Blizzard was done making games for entertainment over a decade ago.
10 min a day in d4? 10 min a day in d4 this season? How about you take a 10 min break to take your meds, eh? The last thing this clusterlove of a game needs is to get more repetitive, grindy and unrewarding. The masochists from from poe ruthless already did enough damage by spreading their disease to poe 2.
Well Diablo 4 is a bad designed Game. Spam filler skill, do youre Big boom and then Spam filler again for Ressource. You need 2 Buttons, thats it. They cant change this…
