D4 organized feedback

Biggest issues:

  • Gems take up WAY too much space in inventory. (addressed in Q&A on 16-06)
  • Most dungeons go on for far too long, due to multiple ‘open the door’ objectives and backtracking through endless empty hallways. At least add objective markers.
  • Remove the ‘open the door’ objectives in Nightmare Dungeons; make it a ton of mobs and a boss. At least add objective markers.
  • ‘Vulnerable’ is so strong it’s mandatory for every build. Do we really want another CoE situation?
  • The game heavily punishes experimenting with builds due to the obnoxious respec costs, and the inability to save gear/skill/paragon loadouts. You’re forcing players to go to a 3rd party site and just copy/paste a build. Leveling is far too slow if you want us to make a new alt to try another build.
  • The Renown grind is nasty even the first time. Please don’t make us do this again for a season without major adjustments. (addressed in Q&A on 16-06)
  • Enchanting needs to show the possible re-roll options. How is this such a major step back from D3?

General:

  • Helltides feel empty and often boring; them being the only source of the upgrade material sucks.
  • Mob density in general feels low most of the time.
  • It’s 2023 and we’re making mules like 2 weeks into the game. More. Stash. Space.
  • The Druid and Barb starter experiences are just miserable.
  • Treasure Goblins are underwhelming.
  • Silent Chests are super underwhelming.
  • There are sooooooo many secondary stats. Maybe combine a couple, remove a couple and just do another pass in general.
  • Necro minions just getting deleted in 0.1 seconds by some mobs sucks.
  • Respec and enchanting costs are excessive. Would be somewhat fine for endless non-seasonal play, but starting over from 0 every season?
  • The random events out in the world and inside dungeons need a lot more variation. Feels like there’s only like 4 of them. Started skipping them on day 2.
  • Greed shrines are underwhelming.
  • Shrine buffs in general are so short that mobs almost need to stand on top of the shrine for it to be useful.
  • Poison damage seems to be wildly out of control.
  • The damage on some ranged mobs is just insane. The spitting flies, the ‘guns’, succubi, and especially those red path/beam attacks from the red ghosts.
  • You should probably add a dismount pulse to public events. It’s already starting to become common that people just sit on their horse the entire legion event for example.
  • Disabling the crossplay features improves client performance dramatically (on PC at least, dunno about console). Game is a lot smoother with it off.
  • Closing the world map usually causes what feels like a little lag spike. There tends to be some rubberbanding.

(Nightmare) Dungeons:

  • I already don’t want to do nightmare dungeons anymore. Too many inconveniences, they take forever due to the objectives, and in the end it’s just not worth it. (sort of addressed in Q&A on 16-06)
  • ‘Slay all mobs’ and ‘Collect animus’ are boring and take far too long.
  • (Chain running) Nightmare Dungeons could use some QoL changes; a teleport, sigil management, etc. (addressed in Q&A on 16-06)
  • Monster CC can be absolutely nasty; probably needs some form of diminishing returns. Getting cc’d to death sucks.
  • “Shivering” mobs are waaaaaay overtuned. CC last forever and they hit like a train.
  • The red path/beam attack the red ghosts do is just broken. It cannot possibly be intentional for this ability to fire that ridiculously fast and to hit that incredibly hard. Blink and you get 1-shot.
  • Poison damage seems to be wildly out of control.
  • The damage on some ranged mobs is just insane. The spitting flies, the ‘guns’, succubi, and especially those red path/beam attacks from the red ghosts.
  • Yellow glyphs need more variation and originality.
  • Why do blue glyphs exist?
  • Most dungeons feel like they are bulk generated by AI. No originality or personality to most of them.

UI:

  • Gem upgrade UI/UX is terrible. Takes too much scrolling and too many clicks. ‘Upgrade all’ button would be great.
  • Make gems stack higher. (addressed in Q&A on 16-06)
  • The stash could use some smart search/filter options. Finding a legendary with a specific aspect takes forever.
  • The aspect system in general is frustrating and stashspace-consuming.
  • In D3 I can see at a glance if an item is an upgrade. In D4 the tooltip comparison is way worse. Especially with offhands. Consistent sorting/categorizing and a proper hierarchy would help a lot.
  • Let me hide the keybind indicators on PC.
  • Let me scale the UI on PC.
  • Do another pass on the PC UI/UX, it’s currently clearly just designed for console.
  • It’s difficult to see the difference between a rare, sacred, and ancestral item in your inv at a glance. Make the difference more pronounced.
  • Can we get a keybinding back to skip through dialogs and close windows.
  • Why do I have to maximize the skill/paragon window every time?
  • Change the color selection in the transmog UI so you don’t have to scroll.
  • When I’m not talking to a vendor hitting space in the inventory marks an item. When I am talking to a vendor hitting space in the inventory dashes. Not consistent.
  • What’s the point of a separate Quest item tab? Do we ever even need to use something from it? Make it invisible.
  • World boss tooltip doesn’t consistently say if you’re already locked out of a weekly cache.
  • You need to Google to find out when the weekly reset is.
  • I can mark sigils as junk but can’t mass salvage them, instead it will sell them for gold. That makes no sense.
  • Change ‘mark as junk’ to ‘mark as not junk/do not sell’.
  • Add a ‘sell all’ button.

QoL:

  • Please reconsider the map overlay. Constantly hitting tab and/or watching a red line on the minimap just to see where I’m going is annoying and way more
immersion breaking. Zooming out the minimap more would help a lot.
  • Paragon board needs a full reset button and a significant drop in price for a reset.
  • The red GPS line is often wrong, or wildly inefficient.
  • Need more stash space. At least a more efficient way to save good rolled aspects.
  • You can’t really play more than 1, maybe 2 alts due to the limited stash. We shouldn’t need like 7 mule chars in week 2.
  • Please make the Aspect inventory tab the same size as the normal inventory.
  • Every single stash needs to be in a more convenient place.
  • I would really like at least one of the cities to be somewhat convenient. Everything close together.
  • Let me teleport to a party member directly please.
  • Having to leave behind a ‘this item starts a sidequest’ drop because the Journal hit some arbitrary limit sucks.
  • Extracting an aspect should unlock the transmog as well.
  • Skipping campaign on an alt should unlock way more, if not all waypoints. At least make them visible on the map.
  • Skipping campaign on an alt should keep the map explored.
  • Pickup range on gold/animus/motes/cinders/etc needs to be larger.
  • Let me track multiple quests and/or set multiple pins.
  • Text doesn’t line up with the name when you whisper someone. Looks sloppy.
  • Don’t fade the screen and put up the banner as soon as a dungeon ‘ends’. It’s quite common for combat to still be ongoing.
  • On console Necro abilities auto-target the nearest corpse. On PC you have to precisely click the corpse.
  • The root traps left behind by spiders need to vanish way quicker. It’s annoying getting rooted constantly well after the mobs died.
  • Add a tracker/timer on the map screen for world bosses and other major events. Shouldn’t need a 3rd party site or Discord bot.
  • Let me trade duplicate mount drops, or at least give them a somewhat significant vendor value.

Mount:

  • The horse gets stuck on everything and immediately comes to a full stop.
  • There’s way too many barricades on the roads.
  • The horse will only jump over gaps if you hit the correct pixel at exactly the correct angle. So never.
  • The increased cooldown when you get knocked off the horse is just obnoxious.
  • Who thought that ‘cursor distance from horse’ was a good idea for speed control?! Sucks in general, sucks more when trying to travel south.
  • Horse cooldowns; both the summon and the attack ability have annoyingly long cooldowns.
  • The horse dismount attack ability is either on cooldown or doesn’t trigger. Feels bad and unresponsive.
  • Honestly, it’s frustrating to use. It’s still faster than walking (sometimes) but it’s just so annoying.
  • The dismount attack doesn’t seem to scale with stats and/or level; so while it looks cool it’s almost completely useless.

Holy s…what a thorough list of observations. Must say I agree 100% with most of your critic points.
The thing that surprised the most after playing some hours, are especially the lack of QoL in this game. Considering the 70 euro pricetag of this game I was not expecting this bare minimum of ways to monitor gear progression, manage and store items or orientate myself in the game world while playing. And playing on pc…don’t even get me started on the mount…what a s…show!
Been playing Last Epoch while waiting for D4, and goddamn what a difference considering QoL. Sorry to say, but imo D4 has a long way to go before meeting the standards from that game…70 euro’s ???..Jeez!

Agreed.

Agreed, right now the shrines are kind of pointless with how short they are and in too many cases there is a random event that triggers when it´s pressed and is just tedious when trying to do something specific. I most of the time just skip the shrines right now because i cant be bothered.

This definitely needs some rework, shorten the distance from the horse for full speed. probably works fine when using a controller.
