D4 supposed to be dark and gritty? It's not :(

Game was supposed to be dark and gritty but it’s nothing like that… The world itself looks promising but the effects of the characters and enemies are like taken from a different game.
I’m playing Sorc right now and when enemies catch on fire I have a D3 flashbacks… And it’s not only fire effect, acid and arcane/magic looks just as bad. It looks silly, flashy and cartoonish just like in D3. Doesn’t fit the world design at all, It feels like I’m having some filter turned on for better visibility of the effects or something… Spells just doesn’t blend with the environment to put it simply.

Its a personal like or don’t.
I really like the look of the game and the spells on my sor.

It’s personal taste. Respectfully I disagree.

For me I thought it was a bit more focused on realism than I like and am used to for blizzard, but it may just be the starting zone/equipment so- just keeping my eyes open.

You’re absolutely right. For me it feels like many of the spell and ground effects appear graphically simplified, color tinted and disconnected from the impressively crafted, well lit environment.
As if there were 2 seperate Art Directions:

  • 1 for the World and Character Art
  • 1 for the Particle Effect Visuals

This game looks like Producet from the same Grafic Designers like wow…
alltimes the intense colored thing and stupid designs.
Everything delivered exaggerated and not placed realistically

Since Diablo3 no one sits behind the game who likes to gamble. BLizzard, finally start gambling. Boss, it’s time to allocate 4 weekly hours of paid gaming hours to the employees. You should get to know what is important in playing and what is relevant to having fun.

even with 40k employees, DIablo IV should easily have blown the budget

been playing Undecmebr a bit and it’s darker and gritty than D4, not saying its an overall better game mind you haven’t decided on that one yet

sorry, what playing?

Well you have plenty of blood and gore, slaves/prisoners impaled and gored everywhere in dungeons, put on display for us to see. BUT, they all have rags covering their private parts, because come on, Demons are not THAT cruel. Showing a titty would be a step too far in cruelty when you’re torturing someone to death  /s

It’s absolutely ridiculous imho. It gives Diablo 4 such a puritan vibe that clashes so hard with the Diablo theme.

Even ghosts looked like blue candles or something.

dark? almost all maps are full white…

Graphics is one thing but biggest thing about darkness is not knowing or seeing.

I DO NOT MEAN THAT THEY SHOULD RESTRICT OUR VISION and i do not praise getting oneshot by mobs you do not see.

When i imagined D4 before it came… i hoped to be lost in this game, trying to overcome challnges to see mysteries behind them. like GRAZY items that you can loot but stay as a mystery because you aint stronk enough. Finding out their existence from youtubers who play this game like owls to be first to find out stuff. Also tons hidden quests, dark and twisted ones, with wild items with wild lores.

what we got? if its 825 it should be good enough. If you really want to waste your time you can go uber lilith at lvl 100 but it will drop worse item that you got as lvl 81 anyways.
have fun guys!

Just because you don’t like it does not mean that it does not fit.

IMO graphics are well made and fitting a dark / gritty theme
