Hi everyone,
I have been playing Diablo games for 20 years and I didn’t think I would have problem like this.
I am now playing Necro summoner, level 42. Doing the usual stuff. Since yesterday, something drains my essence to ZERO in combat in certain periods. I looked at gear, talens, affixes. Nothing indicates why this would happen.
I cannot play like this, but what bothers me is that I cannot diagnose what is causing it.
I am currently playing on Expert.
Can someone please help?

I think it’s an aspect on your weapon, gloves, amulet or ring called “aspect of the great feast”. Every minion drains 1 essence from you per second in trade for more damage.

Its not that. I dont have that aspect and my essence is not drained slowly. It goes to zero instantly upon some trigger.
I spent last 2 days trying to debug and it has to do something with bone prison. I removed that skill from the spec and bar and it doesn’t seem to be happening anymore.
I don’t ever recall not being able to diagnose why something is happening in a video game. Very weird situation.
EDIT: its not the bone prison. I incursions my essence goes to zero with some triggers. I am literally going to reroll another class lol… Cant believe no one knows what is happening and that on google I cannot find explanation.
Hm ok. I don’t want to exclude that this might be a bug of course, especially if you don’t have any aspects related to bone prison.
Then i would advise you to do the same i did:
grind to torment 1 with minions (without boneprison), do helltides for corrupted blood and kill Lord Zir. Get the Bloodwave pants and immediately switch to bloodwave. Worked like a charm 
It might be the boss power that spends all your essence for increased damage
one of this 2 either u got great fest on or u got Qax rune equiped wich drains all ur essence

I appreciate all the replies, but I do not have mentioned aspect. I am not sure if there is an option to link armory or something like in wow, so you could see my spec and gear. I also do not have any rune inserted at the moment.
I tested it (in fact I am spending last few days my 1h per day of gaming to test it).
It doesn’t happen in open world UNLESS I use bone prison. But it also happen in incursions regardless of bone prison.
I was not able to find the source online.
I am still thinking of enrolling, because it’s so frustrating, mainly because I don’t know the reason.
EDIT: it also happens when I use Blood mist in open world.
EDIT2: In incursions it happens all the time.
Try ask a friend making same build and test? maybe a graphical bug even? does it do it when your toon is naked?
as they said one of the boss powers in your inventory screen the eye icon for the powers one drains all essence to give more damage and sounds like that. why i did not use it get one big hit then cannot cast anything why unless something gives so much resource back instantly
