Hi Diablo 4 Team Devs,
I actually had a great time playing Diablo 4 Beta. I know there are a lot of things to think about before the full release on June 6th, but I want to ask for one thing? Can you allow more than six skill slots? With all the abilities available, it would be great if we could utilize like eight or ten skill slots, instead of having to go back to the ability section and de-select and select new abilities. This would avoid player frustration and still make the player have to think about which abilities to level up. We have numbers 1 to 0 on the keyboard and it would be great to utilize all of them instead of just default [1,2,3,4]. Otherwise, great job so far. Canât wait for the full release. Thank you.

where do you have so many abilities?
I mean on sorc, yes I am missing 1 skill slot because the dumb ultimate takes one.
You can basically only take 1 builder and 1 spender (maybe 2 if for ST and AoE) and the rest is like def options or utility. You will not have the skillpoints most likely to skill more than the 6 skills anyways.
I donât see the harm in making skills able to be switched with hotkeys though.
Guess people would whine too many buttons for ARPGâŚ

I felt the same.
Not sure if anything thought about this, but feeling more skills should be allowed on skill bar. Right now only 1-4 + Left & Right click. [Probably for the reason to let console player to easily cast skills]
For example, if you are playing a conjuration style sorcerers. (Right now is enough but hoping they add more this type of skills in the future)
[1. Teleport, 2. Hydra, 3. Ice Blade, 4. Ultimate]
Then it is full alreadyâŚ
I think allowing up to 8 skills on the skill bar is the most ideal situation or adding function to quickly swift to skillset 2 or something for more diverse gameplay.

No. You donât. D2 only had two action buttons. D3 had 6, just like D4. The ultimate also took one of the ability slots in D3. So again, No.

D2 had only 2 visible but you could enable so that every bind showed up as a non clickable button that showed cooldowns, arrow counts etc and pressing the keybind enabled it. You could have 14 skills on buttons at the same time if I remember correctly F1-12 and mouse buttons.
Sure you only had â2â skill buttons but pressing F1-12 used the skills assigned to them did they not?

bro, using qwert instead of numbers like path of exile, you already have one more slot and they also use the mouse wheel button
no thanks, might aswell enable wasd and make pov like wow then, and there we got an actual mmo
This 100% Diablo 4 needs more ability slots. Many people feel this way and I really hope D4 devs take note. 6 skills is not enough.

I donât use Ultimate.
Having more versatility and utility in moment to moment combat is better than powerfull but with 1min CD Ulti.
Diablo 4 is not a MMO, where tons of utilities and cooldowns are needed. Diabloâs combat is simple but effective, as it should be. Adding more skill slots would only decrease build variety. 6 skill slots are enough.

Pretty sure D2 had the strictest build paths with the most key binds because putting your points into everything made you extremely weak at everything. Same thing would happen here me thinks.
i disagree. i enjoy the limited ability selection to create builds around a few abilities, thatâs one of the things that is pretty standard across arpgs.

There are spells that donât impact on your build (teleport, leap, etc.) and it is dumb to waste entire slot for it instead of ability that you MAXed. Keep in mind that on max level you will have more MAXed abilities than on beta and not having s free slot to them - sucks.
Iâm not sure how I feel about putting a limitation on defensive/movement based abilities.
Combat abilities should have a fixed amount, makes sense for builds, but i wouldnât mind 1 or 2 more defensive/movement slots.

teleport and leap etc impacts ur build lol, do you want to go max damage? or do you want to go mobile for speedrunning stuff.
teleporting/leaping out of pools, ofc it matters to the build.
this is the meaning of a build, and builds have been a part of diablo since the beginning.
from your logic there will be no more builds, just classes.
Stop trying to change something that works and doesnât need to change,
I agree Left + Right and 1-6 I think is good. Even if you start the game at 1-4 and unlock 5 and 6 at later levels.
In D2 most of my builds fit fine within the F1-F8 range.

8 skills would be ideal but I think the most we could hope for is an ultimate ability button. Just this would make a world of difference. I bet if you look at most D4 builds they donât include ultimate as itâs too long a cd.
I donât get all the âyou only need 6â and âits better this wayâ replies. If you donât want to use more than a few skills good for you. The limiting factor here is skill points. Limiting skill slots is just aggravating. If you want to take 1 rank in every active skill more power to ya, you should be able to use them effectively. Iirc thatâs how it worked in both d1 and d2.

Youâre so wrong. You were able to assign skills to Fx buttons up top, I believe many more than Diablo 3 and 4 do.
