Diablo 4, review - thoughts before expansionset

So… I wasn’t gonna buy D4, but my brother wanted to play so I ended up doing so anyway.

Now Blizzard wants to push a new expansion, but the game still crashes on world boss spawns and even several minor events in open world or grouped dungeons… The game is basically still in BETA…

The gear system is real disappointing, basically a copy from world of warcraft, find ur cookie-cutter META spec and keep pushing that endgame for 0.1% gear improvement. Instead of what we came to love from diablo 1 and 2, with item rolls that define specs and/or last into the endgame and sometimes even beyond if ur lucky, and endgame bosses that’d test ur will. In this game it’s not even worth saving gear from before level 80, basically afk untill 80+ then push afk grinds.

The group up system is a bit of a letdown, max 4 people in a group?
-Why? So we can plaster the screen in skills that trigger automatically so noone can see what actually happens, while u never have to push a button but just play a running simulator?

There’s no feeling of success, when u win u just get another bland invitation to do more grind for another potential shot of 0,1% upgrade.

The dungeons, while dungeon crawling, aren’t very… Dungeon-esque? More like, walk in a line this way, do this, come back open door beat boss.

The difficulty scaling is all over the place, either monsters beat ur butt and rob u blind. Or u blow them over like wet cardboard boxes.

The Visual Transmog, achievements, mounts, pets etc. is neat, but it makes no sense - why are there things in the game you cannot obtain?
With systems like this in Diablo 4, will run into some of the same problems down the line as WoW has today.(e.g. bare mare at launch)

The skill system is really boring, it’s only an illusion of a skill tree. A skill twig.

All in all, I expected way more for a triple A priced game.

In conclusion, I’m not gonna pay €40 for an expansion unless the games comes out of BETA and these things are fixed.

D4 is unfinished mess right now. I buy it when I see Skill Tree’s, Pragon Boards and Items being improved not a moment before. What I heavily suspect is that they will be adding more new stuff to the game but ignore it’s core problems.

For example: “Hey we added 3 Cool Spell Skills for Sorcerer, but we are still not fixing Chain Lightning damage or adding a proper Unique for it.” Also levels have zero value anymore. You get to 50 under 3 hours by just spam killing Maidens. And all the gear you get you will replace in next 2 hours.

I agree at some of the points, but I do not get your complain about gear. I find it in a good state now if we look past Tempering which is really bad. I have since release not had a single crash, I am not sure if it is the game fault tbh.
If tempering was max 3 or 4 affix each recipe it would be a bit better. 3 would be the best, but above that its a useless system. If you get the greater affixes it can be a huge boost depending on the stat of course.
I agree with the difficulty is all over the place, and the dungeons would be better without the quests in them, so you can get through them faster.
But beside that, I find season 4 the best so far, and miles better than what we had before.

well i only have one word to describe it

BOARING

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

“Better than before” doesn’t make it “Good” IMHO.
Whatever u build on top of a broken foundation is not gonna last. Tempering, enchanting, masterworking etc. are just that, icing on a cake that’s falling apart.

-The amount of uniques are kinda low, compared to diablo 2, and there’s no runeswords for you to work towards.
-The scale from 1-925 is huge, and every single item from 1-924 is basically useless. So there’s no real reason for itemlevels beside leveling, they could’ve just scaled the items with your level.
-After reworking a set of gear to fit my spec, all 925 items, all I can do is to wait and find those items “naturally” with the right legendary aspects and stats, in a perfect edition with 3 stars. That’s what’s left, another endless grind.
-When “all that is left” in the endgame, is improving ur gear, that system has to be absolutely great. And it isn’t.

Honestly the system as is, is making you do a fools errand. Not once, but twice… It’s plain as day. 1-Get ur gear 1-80(fools errand), 2-get ur gear at 80+ 925 items(fools errand), 3-get ur BiS gear 925+3 stars+perf stats(ur actual gear).

It doesn’t get me excited at all. “meh another useless legendary/unique 925, inflation even in game”.

Crashes
In all honesty, yea I don’t have “the best PC in the universe”. But it’s well beyond the minimum requirements for Diablo 4 and I don’t have trouble in other games. - But for whatever reason I’ve gotten crashes rather often in D4 particular, as described in the original post.

Personally I’m not looking for a PoE copy, I’m looking for a diablo game.
I don’t want the dungeons to be faster, quite the opposite in fact. But people have different views, and that’s okay.
But I want Dungeons to be longer, have several levels, more bosses, traps, dead ends, mini bosses and champion packs, more dangerous and difficult. etc.

*Edit
Another thing to add:
Why is it, the person who “opens” an event gets “full” rewards, but the other people in the group gets half or nothing. It seems to be happening several places in the game:
E.g.:
Pit: opener = Full amount of masterworking mats, everyone else = Half.
Andariel/Duriel mats: Opener = gets mats to open for bosses, everyone else = no mats at all.

Also I forgot to mention earlier:
-Even though tempering is icing on a cake, Mysticue, yes Tempering is really bad. I don’t get why there’s 2 gate mechanics on it. Why both have a max amount of rolls and random stats. It’s stupid as hell, and waste ur time, by bricking items.
It’s kinda like bricking a rune-base in D2, it feels like such a waste of time.
