Diablo IV Final Version: Server Slam files work (only 8GB in difference)

I’m using the server slam files for the final version.
Launch the download and wait for the initialization. The client will create the directory structure along with some files. Just download a bunch of data.
Then put the files from the “Diablo IV - Server Slam” directory into the “Diablo IV” folder, without overwriting existing files (just skip them).
Launch the repair option of the client. Now it’s only 7.9GB to download.

Blizzard said to delete them. They don’t even understand how downloading differences from hashes work.

I’m pretty sure the senior systems administrator at blizzard will understand a hell of a lot more than you when it comes to this on their end.

Lets just wait and see if your game launches without errors.

But you can’t be 100% certain this will work yet. When you eventually get to actually play the game you may encounter any number of errors, issues, etc, etc. You may even end up having to uninstall the entire game and re-install everything once again.

Just because a whole bunch of files have the same name and the same folder structure does not mean the Server Slam files are fully compatible with the full game release. Yes, they could be, but they could also be completely incompatible.

Seeing as you can’t play yet you cannot, therefore, verify this will indeed work. For those who want to take the risk, go for it and I hope it works out for you. Personally, I’ll just download the full 80GB release version, it’s not like it’s going to take a whole lot of time anyways.

I’m a Software Engineer with 15 years of experience and I can do a compare between two folders. I did the same across the three betas and it has always worked. There is no reason this shouldn’t work: it’s just hash computation with a re-download for differences. It’s really that simple.

A 7-year-old child can compare two folders, it does not qualify them to publicly overrule the instructions of the developer who gave a very specific answer to the questions if this could be done. The hashes might be the same, the file name and structure might be the same, but the files were packaged for two completely different versions of the game, on separate clients. So you cannot granuntee this will work successfully quit yet.

I’ll keep an eye out on the Technical Forum for your probably future post of your game license being suspended for having a massive amount of foreign files in the DIV - Live Build directory.

You’re just an ignorant and tech unsavvy person. You don’t even understand that if the files have the same hash, they’re IDENTICAL. So there is no difference. I will be back here just for making fun of you. It has worked across three betas, there is no reason it won’t work now.
The main differences are just in the data folder with simple files on which the hashes need to be computed. Really simple.

The 3 Betas shared the same client, the Live build is on a completely new one. You should know that.

The “client” is the diabloiv.exe file. It’s just a program that has already been updated by re-downloading the new version (hash difference). Stop talking about things you obviously don’t understand.

lol… Seriously, that’s all I needed to hear to discredit everything you have said until this point.

You really don’t have anything technical to speak with me. Go back playing videogames as a user and leave technical discussions to technical people. The client is just the combination of the battle.net program (the launcher) and the Diablo IV.exe file.

OK, and I have over 30 years experience in both computer software and hardware. I’m not going to get into a pointless argument over who’s right and who’s wrong.

It’s your choice, if that’s what you want to do then good luck to you. I’m fairly certain that Blizzards own team does actually know what they’re doing and when they say the beta clients are not compatible with the live client then they may have a better understanding of the reasons why that is than some random person on the internet.

You’re just another who uses computer terms without having a clue on what he’s talking about. Judging by your words, you don’t know what an hash value is and you don’t understand what a client is. Please stop, your “30 years in computer software” means nothing. What the hell does it mean? I can drive a car since 1995. Does this mean I understand mechanical engineering? Please stop being ridicolous.

Yet you’re the one who stated:

So, by your own words, those so-called “15 years of experience” means nothing!

You gotta love it when people not only bring the rope but then hang themselves with it!

I have a degree in computer science. I have a master in web technology. I code for a living. I’m the main lead developer of three portfolio management applications for 5 of the biggest banks in europe. I work for one of the top 100 global fintech companies of the world. I’m the technical leader of a team of 30 software engineers. I have 15 years experience in server side programming. I do understand what I’m talking about. That’s the difference between you and me.

Anyway, I’ll be here on June 2nd just to make fun of a computer illiterate with “30 years of experience in computer software” that can’t even understand that two files with the same hash value are binary identical. It will be fun.

All that and apparently you’ve never learnt that you should never make assumptions about complete strangers!

Whatever, as I’ve said previously, it’s your choice to make.

While we’ve been having this little discussion I’ve left the download running in the background and the whole 80GB completed in less than an hour. So thanks for entertaining me (and others) during that time, but now I have more important things to be doing. :sunglasses:

You’re not a complete stranger. You’ve demonstrated you don’t possess any technical skills / abilities / knowledge to speak about these things. Plain simple. Now do me a favour from your “30 years of experience in computer software” title: go to bed.

The firm he works for only has 30 years experience of platform building, if precedent in this thread is anything to go by… don’t take it too personally.

I have a degree in potato and I know how to tie my shoes!

At the end of the day, everyone please do not listen to the moronic creator of this thread. To avoid any form of data corruption, please make sure you have fully uninstalled any beta client and install the brand new client.

Even those with a slow internet connection will have everything ready to go in the next 45 and bit hours from now.

You know nothing about me, you don’t know me, but more importantly you don’t have a single clue as to what I do and/or do not know. You’re really starting to bore me kid, I’ve said multiple times now that “IT’S YOUR CHOICE”, but no, you still feel the need to respond by trying (and failing) to insult anyone and everyone who doesn’t agree with you! Your childish and immature attempts at insulting people really needs some work, but, possibly more importantly, they reveal a whole lot more about you as a person than you realise!
