You basically posted my thoughts, thank you.
If I want to play with others then I’ll play WoW, but Diablo always was a solo experience for me. Having strangers running around almost breaks the game for me.
It would be nice to have a “solo” mode available.

The mainreason behind it are the datafiles that come with offline mode. You see this in D3 on console a lot. People can freely adjust their stats and their equipment and go in online games with their billion damage weapon. You destroy the experience with that.
The only way to make this happen is to have a completely seperate character that is exclusively for offline and can only be played there. And that would be way too much effort to implement. Also the game is designed to be more multiplayer based so it would go against the design thought of D4.
I don’t see how greeed is a reason here ?
We don’t need an offline mode to have a single player session with pause function.

we dont nead to be online to have a single player session im playing on my mobail internet only and it is slow and limited. it might have claud save function but it is alle 
It will never happen. Offline mode would open the door to modding. Modding opens the door to free, modder made cosmetics. Can’t have that in a game that sells cosmetics.
