The diablo.trade page should either be closed or controlled, like with POE2, where GGG is the host and everything runs smoothly there, you get good things for little gold, not so with D4, shortly after Season 9 started, every part with 1 GA already costs 99B and with more GA thousands of runes, that’s the new currency. The sellers sell these to websites that trade with them and receive real money. Is that the point of the trading site? I don’t think so, do you?
Diablo trade is not run by Blizzard, it is a community driven website, and while the site itself doesnt do anything against the rules, its clearly fueled by third party gold selling from other websites, and dublicated items, wich is against the rules.
The only way Blizzard could fix trading, would be to add a highly controlled trade platform ingame, but this would be a temprorary fix as the third party market always adjusts.
The high demand for trading is clearly a sign of a underlying issue; the scarcity of good items and runes. This is what should be fixed, rather than bandaid solutions like integrated trading.
There is already trading in the game tho, it’s people that are refusing to use it and to use nonsupported websites.
There is a trading mechanic in the game, that is correct, but no proper system or platform for it, only a trade chat that half the playerbase never look at, and for those that do, their messages get drowned in other peoples messages in a matter of seconds. Its not efficient.
Personally, im against trading of any kind, as i feel it ruins the game, because it attract all the worst kinds, bots, scammers, exploiters ect. The only kind of trade system i would be ok with is the same as they use in Diablo 3. It is fair, highly controlled and basically cant be exploited.
But since trading is here, and is unlikely to go anywhere any time soon, Blizzard needs to step up and take control of the situation, because clearly the community cant handle such a responsibility.
Not with me.
Sometimes the trade chat is inactive for long times, on my side.
And i have allways cross platform on…
I’m more extremist.
They should ban trade for all in D4, and make anything account bound.
Those sketchy “third party” sites would fall like a deck of cards…
Bli$$ has other plans…
Why you think those sites still exist?
I wouldn’t nessecarily go that far, but a good first step would be to remove the ability to trade gold. Whats currently going isn’t really trading, its buying and selling. Gear for gear, rune for rune, that would be trading.
If Blizzard wanted to sell gold, they wouldn’t need a shady website, they would add a Diablo token, the WoW token is wildly popular over on world of warcraft.
Imagine this. Person A needs gold. Person B has a lot of gold to burn. Person A buys a Diablo token from Blizzard for 20 dollars. Person B buys that token from person A for say 10B gold, then redeems the token for 1000 platinum. Result? Person A got some gold, Person B got some platinum to spend on premium cosmetic or battlepasses, and Blizzard essentially sold 10 dollars worth of platinum for 20 dollars.
Everyone is happy, especially Blizzard who made an extra 10 dollars for doing nothing. Thats much more profitable than just selling raw gold.
Im not saying this is a good idea, im just saying this is how Blizzard gets away with selling gold, and at the same time earn an extra buck (or 10)
I think that IF the loot system was working and was “fun” to work with then people wouldn’t feel the need to resort to buying Duplicated items/ or perfectly 3x GA items via Diablo.trade but as it stands the player frustrations are that you can spend 10hrs farming and not see a single triple GA item or if you do then the tempering system breaks it… or you farm Lair boss materials and then you see 0 mythic drop and 1xGA items drop from them is pure frustration which leads people to just buying the items.
I think that for most people most of the fun they get isnt getting the perfect items for their build its testing and tinkering about with builds and seeing what they can achieve with perfect items so the constant wall of i cant find a perfect X item is just an annoyance for the player because it stunts progression.
As for there being a Trade Chat this is basically dead for players because a lot of the ones who are trading are trading through Diablo.trade anyway so this is kind of forcing players to use this external site just to trade.
Add a ingame AH if trading is allowed and borderline promoted due to the existence of Diablo.trade anyway.
