We got a Diablo game without Diablo.
Its like the most recent Mortal Kombat movie without Mortal Kombat. Looks like this is getting a new trend to give us titles without the actual thing.
I think the general expectation is that Diablo will pop up later in an expansion.

Diablo is the least interesting of all the demon lords, generally the least interesting of all the villains in the franchise. He was not missed, and the game being named Diablo is just a convention, just like Final Fantasy’s gotten to #16 in the series.

Mephisto was the most interesting in D2. Diablo was an afterthought.
Piggybacking off an existing franchise is quite popular, it brings in that cash… Until it doesn’t ofc, but by that time something new will come along to milk.
Diablo is on vacation and in the meantime Butcher has replaced him.

They did get so much money from diablo 4. They could leave this game without changes and just go directly to make diablo V. People would buy it anway.

Pretty much… I wouldn’t be surprised if the plans for D5 weren’t in motion the moment it became the fastest selling game for them…
