Why is the DLC only 23$(CDN) for people purchasing it with a new game, yet the cheapest cost for someone who already owns it is 53.99(CDN) such trash… and a slap in the face to any player who already purchased the game and had been let down many times already. Please fix this.

Because the big whales are still there, look on the forum at the number of whales who have already pre-purchased the big pack… It’s because of the whales that the prices are so huge, if people didn’t buy the stuff rotten at 100€ such a price would not exist.

for me and the bad first year of D4 the DLC need to be free for old player. Even at 20€ i dont buy it.

They did not introduce nothing what bring that dlc beside raid boss and campaing and wow one new class. After 1 year and they did make only 2 good season . People nowadays are more wise with money . For that money you can have good different game. That would give more fun. So why spending money here ?. They have competitors like Titan quest 2 and Poe2 . Its just not about only money but choices that we have nowadays. If you read on internet many people still think this game is in terrible shape even after 1 year. That’s why they introduce cheap diablo 4 with dlc to purse after players who did not buy this game yet.

Went to the store and bought a bag of some stuff: Bread, butter, milk, cheese and some snacks. Last me a couple of days. 50€. And I said to myself: Expensive.
So I called the president of the United States of America and he said there must’ve been a mistake and immediately phoned the manager of the store for me. Got my money back no problem. You just gotta be firm with people and inflation is whisked away just like a dream.
Back in the day, do you know how much a game cost? 50€, same as today. Expenses sure went up since then but so did the number of potential customers and competition, so the prices has been fairly stable for almost 40 years now. Eventually, however, things change.
Games are still very much a great deal, some of them offering thousands of hours of entertainment to those who enjoy such things. But to reach a large audience they can’t be too costly, because that will harm sales. So what do then if you have big costs and a somewhat limited audience? Let them set the price, let them choose to purchase extras. Not enough to cover development? Sell them expansions then, bit more unavoidable but keep letting the customers choose how much the price is; let the very interested pay the heavy price while the common customer pay the regular price.
Now if you can’t make it work at 20€ expansion and 40€ game you gotta raise the bar even if it hurt sales. And… that’s understandable that they do, to me at least.
But does it actually hurt sales though? You can’t pay 100€ for a game? I think if you can’t do that, you shouldn’t even be playing games; sorry, but you should be out there getting paid, that’s how our current system works. Fair? No. But these games aren’t really made for African pig farmers that doesn’t have a computer. But if that farmer has a computer and a bit of extra cash, it is still cheap recreation if you get a thousand hours from it. Sure you can’t afford the finest and the most exquisite of extras but you get the game and those who can afford those extras made it possible for you to make the purchase to begin with. Otherwise the game would be 200€ if it wouldn’t be for splurgers.
But hey, you can’t afford 100€; I get it, tough times. Thing is that Blizzard can hardly afford lowering the prices. Or idk, they’re probably greeding it as hard as they possibly can. The market though, it forces them to put a competitive price or they’re missing out on business. Is 100€ for game and expansion a reasonable price? I’d say it is. Not to you, perhaps, cause you feel it should be free. Me too, friend; I’d give it to you if I could, but with that kind of business acumen I’d be out of business pretty soon and you’d be buying from these guys regardless.
I would argue that most of the money Blizzard spends on the game goes on publicity generation i.e. the cinematics and related advertising.
Also, the cost of games has been rising steadily over the years and it’s usually done in jumps. So a few years ago £30-40 was the price of a triple A game now it’s suddenly £50-90 and what exactly has changed again? If anything the cost of game development should be going down, particularly given the changes in technology. Just take static art-work in games (loading screens etc) for example, normally a process that would have been created by a computer art and design specialist now it can be done in a few seconds with AI by someone with no background in computer art design or development.
Not to mentioned that the games are being released half-baked which we’ve somehow convinced ourselves that this is ok too!?!?!
i still cannot reliably play the game in s4, some days works fine, some days i wont be able to login, theres no consistancy, im not talking about performances in game, that also kinda goes up and down a lot, but like someone else said, how am i even supposed to pre purchase an expasion when 1 year after i spent the full price for the game i cant even play, first it was just bad, now i can play sometimes. i def ian’t buying it again, let’s see how it turns out in another year i guess, insanity btw.
You got it backwards. They aren’t discounting the brand new expansion for new players, they are discounting the 1 year old base game and bundling it in with the new expansion, for new players.
Doesn’t matter how you rationalize it. Discounting base game, discounting expansion for new players.
Fact is, new players get a heck of a deal with the Ultimate Edition, with all the cosmetics ( gear sets, extra pets, etc), Battlepass tokens, 2500 currency, etc.
It’s a huge slap in the face for existing players. At the least, the Deluxe Edition should have contained the exact same contents as the Ultimate Edition, save for the base game (since we already own it).

I’ll wait a year or two till it goes on sale, at a price that matches the content.

Neither deluxe or ultimate edition of the expansion includes the base game, only the expansion bundle does. If new players want the deluxe or ultimate goodies they are gonna have to pay up just like everyone else.
See it now, seems misinformation that’s been spreading around.
This makes it actually even worse and even more of a cash grab / rip off to be honest.
Its pretty standard for blizzard, they have done it across their ip’s for years, release a new expansion, toss in the base game for a reduced price or sometimes even for free, to attract new players and boost sales
POE 2 is commign out this year. Who cares about blizzard joke and their clown expansions?

Yes, cost will go down radically with the advent of strong ai tools. Up ahead things are changing for sure.
Am I being an apologist? I do that sometimes. I’m not impressed by any of this, frankly, but I will make the purchase because I got notheing else going on. Some say poe2, find and trade and buybot. cool, they really got it right on that one… so like, the drop rates are for bots? cool… cool. only way to make the economy work? ahhh, great. I love it when there’s no new ideas.
Unfortunately lot of people 
for me a global boycott is necessary but the blizzard fanatics are tenacious and they will pay (whatever the price)
Even if sale numbers will be 15% lower it will hurt Blizzard. It’s still millions of dollars.
Just hold off and don’t buy the game before its release! It’s all about some cosmetics.

AND YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE IT MOST OF IT WHEN YOU DO PIT, ND OR HELLTIDES. DON’T BUY EXPANSION NOW. IT’S DIGITAL. EVERYONE WILL GET THEIR COPY. BUT IF YOU WON’T BUY IT NOW, MAYBE WE COULD CHANGE THE WAY BIG CORPO COMPANIES ACT.

I did hear something like that on start of D4 and what 100 millions of copies sold. Get over with it, you will never change nothing by complain like that especially on this forum
You can see how many players have it already. And thier ingame script that show you like you are the last one who did not buy it lol
you buy it for exclusiveness, that’s the projected value. we’re thinking that up ahead the game will change and be super and that’s when i put out my wings collection to the envy of all.
it’s just that this time will never come. d4 is going nowhere, doing nothing new and fails to inspire. I hope I’m wrong and that things will be very cool but i’m not feeling it. Had some fun though but there’s little left for me to explore. I’ll buy the expansion but my expectations are low.
Like from d3 they learnt that giving the best wings for collector’s was a bad idea cuz it makes people feel the fomo too hard. So they reversed the order and all initial cosmetics are pretty bad. Notice how every helm has a mask. and notice how every set is half-bad except a single piece, usually. And also how there’s annoying details on the things that makes them a little bit bad. That keeps us purchasing. Because as we go the better sets slowly releases. The helms start getting unmasked and wings getting introduced.
