Druid design is terrible?

So I started with a druid and regret that unfortunately.

i am lvl 52 and the playstyle is just terrible. I play the pulverize build and also got all slots legendaries that supports my build (shockwave, more dmg etc.)

now the issue is not that it doesnt do dmg (well we can argue about that too, as bosses take forever…)
i only do dmg basically with the guaranteed overpower ever 12 sec and every 20sec while in bear.
these 2 mechanics make me do big dmg and outside of that i do absolutely 0 dmg. it goes from 2 shotting a mob to needing to use pulverize 20 times or more.

the crazy part is that a lot of my dmg only is applied when i am healthy (above 80% hp) and being fortified. Now a lot of time this wasnt an issue but there are some mobs and bosses are really clapping and once i fall 1% under 80% hp i need to pot because i would lose like 80% of my dmg.

the playstyle of running 12s in a circle till i do dmg again is so boring, just wow.
and the 20s in were bear overpower is even worse as it is consumed by any skill, even your 0 dmg regenerator. the buff is so small that it is very hard to keep track of and when it reavhes 20, you better have resources for pulverize or you yet again have no dmg.

i dont know if there is any trick to make pulverize dmg without over power, but i already want to stop playing this class…

any class around that doesnt rely on playing 1 sec and waiting 20s?

Yeh the real problem is balancing Defence with Attack capability…
At the moment I use Petrify (stun) Barrier (sometimes) Wolves, Raven, Storm Strike (Basic) and Pulverise (Core) for General Gameplay and I swap Rage with Petrify for Bosses. As Stun doesn’t work on them. (it does kinda but not in a useful way)

Armour Wise I’m steering more towards Poison Resists… a Fear resist would be handy… atm Mostly Cold and Shadow Resists. Have alot of Shields and Fortify skills/aspects etc and gems mostly using Damage Reduction when fortified…

I’m level 51.99 at the moment. I have the other classes around lv 15-20 not sure which I prefer… Assassin, Sorc and Necro are too easy… Barb is abit easy as well… actually thinking of making a New Druid and see if I can do a better job the second time around.

Necro is the same, just different flavor. Rogue has 1 or two fun builds atm, most other classes have 1 good build, debatable if fun, and the rest is sub-par.

My druid is doing okay running storm magic, but yeah… Its rough out there.

Druid is fine, just need some figuring out because it’s a jack of all trades class. Running companion + Lightning Storm as my spender. I mean sure it’s not some OP build that wrecks dungeon bosses in 3secs, 1-2mins isn’t that bad really. Elite packs are the best to watch when they do die in 2secs though

P.S they do need to fix some bugs like raven not doing the right damage, and buff some obviously bad skills like rabies.

Also I really want to say to all druids out there, Pulverize really isn’t the only viable build you know.

probably but this game make it not all that easy to try everything considering you need 8 legendaries to make most builds work at all… aside from all the cost of imprinting and having correct stats and what not.
need to farm more legendaries to swap around and some builds like tornado wolf even needs a specific unique to be even usable

just dont like this particular build, apparently if i add 2-3 more legendaries it does dmg without overpower but the one that transform it into earth dmg never dropped for me yet

Not really. For example Lightning Storm really only need 1 which is to make Earthern Might proc on storm skills. The rest are just additions. Pulverize… let’s be honest you technically only need shockwave because the default range is stupid and it doubles the amount of damage it does.

By saying “require 8 legendaries”, you are talking about a full build not leveling.

i have most legendaries, including shockwave and outside of the overpower proc it does absolutely no dmg for me, why? no idea. running around with a lvl 50 weapon and mostly 45+ gear

i will try a different build soon as hulk smash build is super boring so far.

barely survived last boss in cap dungeon on lvl 50, just feels like no dmg besides every 12s

I made a ticket because just outside of the towns I ran into a polarbear which took me 32 hits to kill at lvl 19 and when killing a polarbear not long after a lvl 5 ran past and seemed to 2-shot a 50% health polar bear.

I seemed to do quite ok damage until after I teamed up with a lvl 42 friend because we wanted to test the level scaling and after that I seem to do no damage at all when playing solo.

Has anyone noticed anything similar or am I just dreaming or should I pick another class?

Or is druid only for playing in a party as support and CC ?

Nah that’s just the open world level scaling at fault. Applies to everyone. It’s been a complaint since beta test

Don’t you feel bonded with the low level stranger when you get to play with them? ::slight_smile:

I don’t necessarily agree

I made a druid first and finished the campaign and it was a real slog

I made the choice to reroll barb and I’m putting points in what seems fun and I’m blasting through content.

Bosses take without joking 3 to 4 less time

beats me, I had not much issue with druid at all. Landslide + creeper is pretty much an easy crit combo build. You probably just don’t enjoy druid as much as barb, unless you are going for melee builds like crit werewolf the class doesn’t require high apm or movement like barb / rogue which you have to spam basic attacks and dash jump around etc

I saw people complaining about barb as well so…

So when I scale down to lower level I become 1/10 of other low levels strength? That doesn’t sound reasonable

1-2 mins? You on T1 or something… takes me 25 minutes to clear a dungeon sometimes, fortresses can take upto an hour, esp the vampire ones.

It’s so boring i’m actually falling asleep at the keyboard, wake up to find i’m autofighting in some corner.

I’m playing a companion build with Maul builder and Shred spender, and Lacerate Ultimate. Beastial Rage Key passive to get +20% damage (Bear with Maul) and attack speed (Werewolf with Shred) up permanently.

Boons opted Eagle+ with Crit and Attack Speed, Wolf with Pack Leader. Deer with Thorns/10% damage reduction from elites… can’t recall Snake’s.

Does fantastic Aoe and Single Target damage.

I meant in T3 though…

in diablo 2 resurrected you could play as fire elemental, torandoer, fury ww/summoner, elementalist/summoner, basher bear and more. In diablo 4 only point is build with summoners skills on button 123, whatever on 4, whatever basic skill on left mouse button, and maxed landslide on right (but probably every so called core skill can be ok to beat entire game). wow so inspiring, Blizzard designers. we can choose 1 right mouse button skill and we can call it “build”. Every class has the same skills with other animations and names. basic, core, defensive, now two semi-unique tiers like minions and useless skills called ironically powerful like “wrath”, league of legends R button with 60s cd which noone uses because there is no place (so ppl pick passives :D) and some uninspired passives at last lv where should be the best skills. jesus. person who invented it should be fired. and they left it in so uninspired state only because of console players with limited buttons on their controllers

While I can mostly agree on the previously mentioned, the Druid is fun to play in my opinion. As long as you know what to combine and what to leave as a backup, you can go through almost everything and solo as much as you want. However, you have to be flexible and remember that companions are powerful assistance, for different scenarios. I always experiment and change the abilities in the skill tree and for the moment, I have to say that combination between bear, earth and storm is your best bet. If you are someone who likes more than 1 build, you may find yourself switching abilities during the battle in order to maximize your power. Doesn’t matter if it’s a dungeon, boss fight or whatever you like to do. Yes, it needs some refining, but it’s one of my favourites so far.
