How about getting some more stuff to do with Clans? So far they’re nothing but another friendlist basically, and it’d be nice to give them some actual purpose.
First thought would be something like Clan favour, let’s say for every Grim Favour someone in a Clan completes (a) point(s) goes to the player and to a sort of Clan Favour count as well, and when that count reaches say 100 then every Clan member can claim a special Clan cache with a higher chance for good loot.
Also why not put in something like Clan challenges that give tiny bonuses, similar to the Smoldering Ashes for the season blessings. Or give Clan blessings additionally to season blessings.
Point is we don’t need a second friend list that doesn’t really serve a purpose beyond showing friends getting achievements (also on that note, why can’t we see the achievement progress of clan members like we could in Diablo III? That at least had some worth to it, and the ability to see a clan member’s loot).
Also sidenote here please enhance the group size from 4 to 8 to make playing in groups more viable. That limitation to 4 makes no sense, same way it didn’t make sense in Diablo III. Can we please have our Diablo II 8 players group back?
I agree that they should do something more with clans. It would be nice to have some weekly tasks or challenges to complete (kill ___ mobs of ___ type, complete ___ activities of ___ type etc) and at the end of the weekly cycle members who participated can claim a reward cache from the clan page, or receive a small buff, selectable from a small pool of several buffs. The numbers required to complete tasks should scale based on the size of the clan.
Also, have a clan level / tier with a title or rank that increases over time as weekly activities are completed. As the clan level increases, the clan buffs would become slightly more potent.
I am not thinking about anything massive, ground-breaking, or game breaking. I agree that it would be nice to make a clan feel like something more than a second friends list with a communal subtitle.
We certainly do need more functionality for klans and we can see this going on for multiple directions like additional exp / loot when grouped with klan members or PvP related activities.
The problem with that is Diablo is designed as solo player experience and any boost to klan activities would result in backlash about forcing players into grouped / klan gameplay
It’s spelled clans. The way you spelled it, has a negative meaning and a hateful history.
Please edit it.

I think that there is going to be backlash about pretty much any change, as it is very much the done thing to decry any and all changes as negative, currently.
If the buffs / rewards were significant enough to make them feel compulsory then they would be more substantial than I was suggesting. Just some minor rewards / buffs that are good enough to make clan tasks an option to add some variety would be fine.
They could also add minor weekly buffs to something like the tree of whispers, so that people could achieve a similar result without being in a clan, and set it up so you have to choose between a weekly clan buff or tree buff (to stop buff stacking that would make clan activity seem mandatory).
True, there will be backlash for anything devs do and if they do nothing - there will be backlash about that. That’s a community we have at least on this forum ![]()
That would be great boost to clan functionality. You could connect this to whispers and acquire whispers via clan tasks like clear specific dungeon while in clan group or open mystery chest in helltide while in clan group.
hah lol I should have read your entire reply before writing paragraph above ![]()
Honestly I would love to see game expand in PvP aspect of the game Diablo Immortal style. That could add a lot of fun stuff and rewards to promote clan gameplay
Anything but that. Diablo Immortal might be the worst Blizzard has done to Diablo ever ![]()
But I agree on the PvP aspect, so far I’ve only once encountered another player in the PvP zones that was actually there to do some PvP, any other encounter was just with people farming the dust and the whispers there like I do usually. Not that I personally am that much into PvP because I honestly don’t think Diablo or hack&slash in general is well-suited to PvP, but those who do enjoy it should get something to sink their teeth into — Blizzard didn’t program the game just for me after all ![]()
And I can see I’m not the only one who’d like something more from clans than just a second friend list! Gotta be honest the idea came to me when I was playing a mobile game that has a similar function which gives minor stat boosts to you in-game and some daily/weekly tasks to do. So something similar for Diablo IV would be awesome.
Even though I’ll never be in a clan I like your ideas, the only thing I would add is that for the “clan rewards” the people who help gather clan points should be the ones to get the rewards as that will stop any idea of “I’ll let them do all the work as I’ll still get the rewards even if I don’t contribute”.
Gathering 100 clan points or whatever gives another reason to play the content more.
Good post
Certainly, it would need to be “you have to contribute at least some part to get the reward”, otherwise that’d be an invite to abuse.
