Feedback after Beta+30mins Release

Ok, so, this game has not improved from the beta at all.

There is still no option to play solo, despite being mentioned in a news-article about the gameplay not long ago. This next to the fact that it is balanced as a bloody MMO, although that was never the selling point of Diablo.
Also the fact than because of this multiplayer-online, you can no longer pause the game when you have to go afk, you have to get your char to safety first.

The way to navigate through dialogues is a complete mess, having to press either ESC (or hold it to skip cutscenes…hello console ports) or MB1, after hitting the hitbox of the dialogue menu, and don’t you dare missing the click, or the box disappears.
And you can’t even skip dialogue thats happening without your initiation except through your presence. In D3 you could just spam SPACE to skip all kinds of dialogue, now you have to sit through every slow whatever, like in the cathedral in Kyovashad when you first enter.

Enemy hitboxes and targeting of melee attacks is also bonkers, mouse over enemies in front of my character, attack hits BEHIND me…seriously, the combat mechanics in D1 were more functioning than that.

This game is by far the WORST Diablo game ever created, mostly due to its forced multiplayer and 235239572 keywords.
They tried so hard to copy games like PoE, and picked the worst aspects of it.
At least PoE you can play solo.
I hope that single-player mode will be patched in, because i won’t touch this bs until it is.
I would really love to play this game with my friends, but every time i play i just get frustrated by the design choices that ruined a possibly good Diablo-game.
I expected Diablo, and i got just a buffed-out version of Immortal.
Screw that, i wish Blizz would just redo this whole crap.

bet you got far after 30mins
go play Poe then

I played the open beta weekend+server slam, where i got plenty of time to experience the game. And they changed nothing.
And of course, “just play other game then mimimi”-brigade is there to help.
I was really hoping that D4 gets good, and i still want it to, and all Blizz has to do is implement at least ONE feature they said will be there: solo-play.
If console gets it, why doesn’t PC? What is so difficult implementing it if it’s already on other platforms?
Why did they go so close to Immortal when that was probably the most hated Blizzard-game o fall time?
Somehow i wish Microsoft had bought Activision earlier…

Do we have a source for that? I am pretty sure they NEVER mentioned the possibility to opt out of the light mmoish part of the open world.

But honestly in 38 levels never once I said “man I wish I had solo play”, I barely saw anyone in open world.

The game is 99% solo.

Troll! Troll in the dungeon!

Had to know these types of posts would appear almost immediately as soon as the game launched. Ignore this hot garbage as most of it is completely inaccurate.

" Social Systems

Teaming up with other heroes to rid Sanctuary of bloodthirsty demons or going head-to-head against them in combat has long been a staple of the Diablo experience. Diablo IV will continue this tradition by offering both fulfilling PvE and PvP experiences. Providing players with the option to pursue Lilith on their own or with the aid of others is just another way players have additional agency when playing Diablo IV."

“On my own” is very Solo to me. And the fact that you can play solo on consoles shows that solo mode is possible.
But it is nice to see the toxic people coming out with “you can’t criticize the game because i like it the way it is.”
Just live in your closed bubble that this game is the best there is and there is nothing to criticize.

Also the fact that even party-play is broken, and even after the release there are reports that story-progression does not work well in a party.
So, multiplayer sounds worse than it is in WoW.

You lot just show why i want to play solo.

You can definitely pursue Lilith in solo. Every part of the campaign is doable in solo, you don’t need to party with anyone if you don’t want to.

You can’t avoid seeing other players around from time to time but, again, this does not prevent you from beating the campaign (and the game itself) solo.

It still prevents me from pausing the game, and it’s not really immersive to have “xX_Shadowkiller_Xx” and his relatives running around your screen.

And i just have bad experience with griefers in WoW, and thats one of the reasons i am missing a solo mode like you had in all other Diablo games. I don’t care for world bosses and world events where you need randoms. I would be happy playing the game without that if i want to play the story.
And i do want to play in a party, i just don’t want to play with randoms.

Why not have it like D3, one story mode for solo/party play, and one adventure mode for open world multiplayer and world events?

That’s called the Drink’n’Piss game. Think carefully, if you’re already thirsty enough, to have sip, that will make your blodder hurt if you don’t go to piss while you’re in a boss fight. Diablo IV, the game, where every sip counts!

The pause thing is the only thing I really miss (basically because if you’re not in a dungeon, often going afk not in town means death because of respawns). Yes you can solve that by pressing T and then go afk but you can’t just pause while in combat, so… yes I’m with you in this.

The immersion thing is almost non existent. It’s not THAT annoying honestly, I run into 5 people per session when unlucky. Saying it’s “gamebreaking” is maybe a little too much.

I don’t know why they chose to ditch the “full solo” thing but it’s just live with it or leave it at this point, I would say. It’s not a surprise, we know it would have been like this.

I just don’t understand why console gets solo play, but not pc. And that you can turn off cross-platform but not all online players.

Also, they did not “fix” the annoying “you have to press the key, this is not a button”-buttons. Like the Main menu when in char selection.
Just shows that this game is mainly developed for mobile/consoles anyway.
Or that there is absolutely no option to use your mouse to enter any menu, but you have to use the mouse to navigate through dialogues. There is just so much inconsistency with mouse/keyboard navigation.

Or the seconds of delay after leveling up until the skill-up button becomes available. Why is that? It makes no sense. All those artificial delays and obstructions to gameplay that don’t need to be there. But it seems that most people just don’t care.

And also those “Dark Souls” inspired combat mechanics just feel so out of place in a game like Diablo…bossfights don’t feel like an ARPG anymore, but rather just a cheap Dark Souls copy.

I don’t think consoles have the option to opt out from the multiplayer part. Couch coop is not solo play, it’s just couch coop.

Of course it’s clear that the UI has been developed with consoles in mind since the beginning but for me it’s fine. Missing QoL options is like to see are not missing because of consoles.

I honestly really like the slightly added complexity of bosses and the fact they have phases, it makes them less resemble spongebobs. Some of them are quite challenging even at T1.

Absolutely inaccurate troll thread

I have been playing since Thursday, completed the game twice on tier 2. Both on a mixture of ps5 and PC.

The game is stunning, the story is awesome and gripping. With the best cinematography in a game ever.

The combat feels like your choices matter.

Not had any issues in over 60 hours of playing on the 2 most popular platforms.

It runs flawlessly at max settings at 1440p with an average of 90frames on my old EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 card!

It is severely optimised Vs beta, here is proof you can see in the drip of time you played.

The Lorath fire place scene, all of the pots on the left Re much higher polygon count models, before they were more or less dodecahedrons.

I don’t know why people exist that lie and flame, do they think they can cause damage to the game?

But your post is a lie, the hitboxes are fine, pixel accurate, I even tested this specifically for my sorcerer. All dialogue is skipped by hold ESC, in game dialogue not in cutscenes is not, as is typical of any game Nd usually because it is scripted.

It is easily the best diablo game.

the game come online only,
because is managed server side
this means that the game cannot be modified by software such as “cheat engine”
and prevents weapon stats from being changed

the delay in the appearance of the level up pop-up may be due to the overloading of the servers.

…and PoE, it is literally garbage
boosted by f2p
unplayable, due to uncomfortable movements
bad gui, and navigation
TONS of random perks means, 0 balance possibility
and chaotic
Poe, It’s not worth a stone outside of sanctuary, even taking Diablo IV with all its current flaws
because we are talking about an impeccable game on the technical side

It’s good. Maybe it’s just not for you. None of the things you mentioned are objective drawbacks not based on your personal preference except the dialogue skip. The enemy attacks are just fine, not the game’s fault you have high latency or just don’t see them coming.

People advising you to switch to a different game are making a good point.

I have neither high latency nor low FPS. The combat just feels out of place for such a game, it would fit more in a 3D Dark Souls-like game. Dark-on-dark animations on high monster-density is just not really fun of you have to use Dark Souls mechanics. It is an ARPG after all. Also, there is almost no visual destinction between enemy attacks, there is almost no color-variation, almost no spell effects that are visually much different from their surroundings. The first "boss"fight in the story against the mother of whoever she was just looked so bland, dark grey/brown with a few red effects. Like almost every other fight. Also had a weird bug there where i couldn’t take any potions, despite having some left, and not being stunned and still hitting the enemies. Died as a result. Really fun engagement.
Hell, even Diablo I and II had more distinct attack- and spell-animations, at least you could actually see something other than dark masses moving around.

There are a lot of design choices that are questionable. Dialogue skipping is one and one of the most annoying. There story, while not that bad, is nothing i want to play through every single time, and i would have liked an easy option to skip dialogue. Dialogue pops up → press “Space” to skip through quest-relevant options without having to click every single one of them.

Another it the “use-dodge-button-to-traverse-terrain”. It doesn’t really fit in this kind of game to force such an interaction. A simple move-action on this would have been just fine.

The bloated character-screen with in my opinion badly optimized spacing of text and a questionable layout of sub-menus.

The lack of a menu-bar to click with your mouse, despite being a very mouse-clicky game (see dialogue), with a hidden button being the “TAB” button on the top that doesn’t really look like a button.
The multiple second long delay after level-up until the skill-button appears.
The lack of mouse-clickable buttons in the character-selection screen where you have to use ESC if you want to go back to the main menu. You can only select a char and start game with your mouse. Plenty of space to ad buttons to click.

The ESC-menu where the screen gets dimmed, but as soon as you click on the terrain the menu closes and you’re back in the game. Weird to dim the screen if the game is not interrupted in any way.

Diablo III was online only, yet they managed to ad a pausable singleplayer mode into it without ANY issues.
And the delay of level-up button has been consistent, so it is an obvious design choice that makes no sense.

And PoE is not garbage, but it is a very elitist game now, where you can only really enter the late-game with very specific items that take just way to much time to get.
In the earlier days it was somewhat easier to just try builds and play for fun.
But i like the visual design, the game-mechanics and the monetization.
GUI and navigation is MUCH better than in Diablo IV, at least you have a very manageable display of buffs and debuffs, so you can actually see what is affecting you.

I always liked Diablo III to just go and kill monsters, PoE was always for when i wanted a challenge.

Now DIV is a challenge to even get through the design-choices that make no sense at times.

Maybe i’ll give it some time and see if they optimize the interface and controls on PC, until then i just can’t see it as a AAA-title. More like an indie-game with AAA budget.

Played the game for 30 minutes, and this guy is out here writing a review.

Hahahahaha

As you seem to be unable to read: i played the open-beta and the serverslam as well. And i got Ashava twice at lvl20, and i hated that fight because it reminded me of Dark Souls.
And the rest of the game reminded me of D:I

But yeah, i know that criticizing your beloved game triggers your most toxic behavior.
Just shows why i don’t want any open world multiplayer.

practically came to say that PoE is better,
and this already explains everything
there’s not much else to say other than
the fact that by itself, the discussion is ridiculous.
