Feedback from a bored cacual

Hi! Was Googling to find a place to submit feedback, on Blizzard’s own site it says the forums are the best place so here I am.

I played D2 Lord of Destruction, I played D3 on and off - and was extremely excited for D4. All the negative anticipation around monetization didn’t really hit me, I was just looking forward to play the game itself - the Shop is easy to ignore.

Boy does this game disappoint me.

I played season 1 of course, got to about level 80. It was alright - but after about level 50 most of my friends stopped playing and I just slogged through those last 30 levels being pretty bored already.

I played season 2 for 2 weeks - noticed it was pretty much the same deal. Stopped soon after.

Now in season 3, I’ve played for a few days, reached level 41 and I’m bored out of my mind. Decided to uninstall and leave some feedback with the vain hope yall get a grip for D5

So here’s my feedback:

  1. Your game is extremely boring at its core
  2. The gameplay loop is bad. To start with the leveling: it’s boring (open world “events” aka grinding the pylons and stuff atm > deliver tree of whispers thing when done). Hella boring
  3. Gameplay loop = bad #2: lack of endgame. The endgame is in practice the same as the leveling loop but with the addition of copy+paste dungeons. Find some mechanical box or key, deliver it to the door, face a dungeon boss, exit and onto the next one.
  4. Class design is so bad. I played druid 3 times now over the course of 3 seasons, each time I end up with the same abilities cause there’s just 1 thing working well. This is fine in games like WoW where you have a ton of core abilities - but in D4 with its limiting amount of spells it’s just bad. To add, I somehow enjoyed D2 more, even though it only gave you a handful of abilities…
  5. Itemization is bad. Hella confusing, way too many item affixes - what a meme. Making something compliated =/= bright. It’s just silly. A hundred damage modifiers to hold against each other - what a brilliant idea.
  6. Seasons are boring. The seasons add almost nada. And when the core gamplay (gameplay loop; class design) sucks - the season does not add enough to make it worth my while to come back to the game with the same class build (or a slight variation - still boring) and play.

If I would be able to request a refund, I would. Of course I waited around for another season, and another, with the hope I would be proven wrong. Only thing I could do now is write some thoughts on the game and hope you do better in the future.

Diablo 4 has proven to be a massive waste of time. It’s not just about a lack of endgame, the boring copy+paste dungeons, the boring class designs: it’s flawed at its core at every level. The base game is bad, boring, a chore, it’s lame, and I think you (Blizzard) must know that already considering the overwhelming negative feedback I read online.

To wrap up, I’d say that I was really hoping that D4 would blow the arpg genre out of the water. Show the devs of the likes of Last Epoch, Pathe of Exile how it’s done. Boy did you drop the ball on that one. Those other studios must be laughing their balls off. 8 years of development and you needed your players to convince you to add a Gem tab. You needed your players to teach you to add more Stash space; that your itemization is flawed; that the overall design is bad. Missing the most basic stuff in THE newest addition for one of your flagship IPs is abolutely astounding. A testament to how wrong you people are, how skewed your vision and ways of working are.

Please do better in the future. Yall have absolutely lost it.

Level 41. Complains about endgame.
