It feels so exhausting to have to do literally 4 times more work as a solo player to farm uber bosses.
I am dumbfounded. Why is this the case? Multiplayer is incentivized fundamentally anyway because 4 people will be faster. You didn’t have to make solo play so insanely miserable in comparison.
Currently as a solo player, this is the biggest pain point in the game for me. The definitive thing that makes me decide “I’ve had enough this season”.
I was thinking this before:
Solo: +100% drop, half efficiency compared to 4 players.
1x2 = 2, 4x1 = 4; 2/4 = 1/2 = 50%
Duo: +50% drop, 75% efficiency compared to 4 players.
2x1.5 = 3, 4x1 = 4; 3/4 = 75%
Trio: +25% drop, 93.75% efficiency compared to 4 players.
3*1.25 = 3.75, 4x1 = 4; 3.75/4 = 0.9375 = 93.75%
But the problem with this is that purchasers of materials don’t care about efficiency, they only care about speed. This would remove all of those from the available pool of players because there’s no reason for them to trade any speed for efficiency.
Now that might be negligable and not something to balance around anyway. But then you have people like you and me. We would never group if we got +100% solo, just doesn’t make sense; at least not to me. The only reason to do that is as a favor. That removes a lot of players from the available players to play with.
Like I’m thinking that if I get twice the loot, I’d go solo just because it’s a pain to run it in a group due to the constant need to push. I’d do that if I got +50% as well, I wouldn’t mind.
And if material cost was lowered to half for a solo but same for a duo it puts any group but 4 or 1 at a disadvantage.
Halving the material cost is the same efficency as doubling the drop. Sure, takes more time but that’s alright with me and I would never group again.
What about this then: Every player has to put in materials with each summon but drop rate improves by +25% for each player doing so?
That makes 4 players consume 4 times the amount of materials for +100% drop rate, which nets to half the efficiency of a solo player in total for 4 players.
Materials would be 4 times as rare because they would be consumed at 4 times the rate, given that most of everyone run it 4-man.
What that leave the solo player? Not sure. Party players would blow through their materials much faster at least, but they’d get more loot doing it also. Not an efficient trade but it’s not their materials so… Well, I guess it would just be a buff to group. But really not sure how that scenario works out in macro because there’s an economy also and materials will be much more scarce. So yeah, not sure.
I’d like a bit of a boost for solo also but mostly I would like the boss to be fun to play. Today it’s just a slot machine we put our coins in, the materials, and then employ our barbarian onto pulling the lever until we see the ubers.
This idea:
Play on efficiency and speed. Give the solo player the efficiency edge and the group the speed.
Each player has to pay, and they have to pay 1 egg and 1 shard for each player in the group, but they also get +50% drop for each present player.
Solo pays 1 egg and 1 shard, and droprate would be +150% compared to now.
Duo pays 2 eggs and 2 shards, each, and droprate would be +200%.
Trio pays 3 eggs and 3 shards, each, and droprate would be +250%
Quad pays 4 eggs and 4 shards, each, and droprate would be +300%.
Solo consumes 1/16 of materials compared to quad but with half the droprate. So it’s 8 times as efficient to go solo, in total.
Not sure how that plays out either. Because it’s much more expensive grouping up and yield is only twice for four players. Faster though, but at what cost…
Guess it’s a bad idea.
Would like to have something for solo but I can’t think of anything that doesn’t come with big drawbacks. Thinking that speed and efficiency could be played on though.
Edit: And bind materials, so everyone has to pay on their own accord having grinded.
Don’t really believe in any of these suggestions. And I am uncertain if they would make it better for solo also. But I thought I might as well write them down and see if someone else comes up with a good idea.
