I quit playing Diablo because the game kept crashing on restart. Recently I’ve been wanting to get back into the game so I reinstalled the game but it keeps crashing on startup every single time, I don’t even get to the first Blizzard starting scene. I feel like I’ve tried essentially everything that I can find online but the issue still remains. Here are some of the things I’ve tried:
Reinstalling the game 2 times on different hard drives
Making sure Diablo launcher and game is an exception in both my antivirus and in Windows security
Running the game as an administrator
Repairing the game files in Battle.net
Allowing Diablo 4 in my firewall
Updating Windows and graphics drivers
Closing down all 3rd party applications other than my antivirus when launching the game
Removing the dstorage.dll file
Any tips for how to get the game running is super welcome. Thanks <3
I have the same issue, game crashes randomly and when I click play it will crash instantly over and over again. Fix I found… annoying but works is deleting the LocalPrefs that stores all the game settings inside the documents inside the DiabloIV folder, I have to do this every time and reconfig my settings.
Thanks! I will try this and let you know if it works or not. Do you have to delete it every time before you start the game then change settings in game?
Since the Vessel of Hatred update, the game has been intermittently causing my computer to blue screen and force a restart. Today, when I got home from work, I decided to launch the game and noticed a 200+ MB update. The update installed slowly, so I waited. When the game was ready to play, I pressed start. During the game’s launch, I heard the voice of the woman reading the text in the accessibility menu. Apparently, my local settings have changed. After reading some messages above, I’m starting to think that the issue might be related to old game settings. I ran a file scan and am waiting for the results.
