Game Initialization Failed: U

I’ve just purchased and downloaded Diablo IV but I’m unable to launch it.

Clicking launch results in a small error pop-up dialog which simply reads, “Game Initialization Failed: U”.

I found the troubleshooting directions at Blizzard Support - Contact Support and have followed them. I do not have a VPN active, I do not have anti-virus running and I have updated my OS and drivers.

I’ve fully uninstalled and then re-downloaded the game, still the same error. Please help :frowning:

Hi Kat, if you’ve already checked into the steps for that error from here, next you’ll need to scan and repair your game client. After that reset your blizzard and battle.net folders.

Once you’ve done that too, if the error continues please send a MSinfo, Dxdiag and Pingplotter report file for your system by ticket pressing > contact us.

Thanks for the reply. This evening I have:

  • Performed a scan and repair
  • Reset (deleted) my Blizzard and Battle.net folders

I’m trying to submit a ticket as you instructed but every time I click submit it shows me some suggested articles, I click submit again and it takes me back to the submission form again. I have no idea if the ticket is going through or not.

Update: apparently my msinfo file was huuuuuge. Truncating the errors to more relevant dates. - Ticket now submitted, thanks for the help.
