Game/loot/class balance as of season 8

Just an opinion/feedback on Diablo 4 and it’s current direction as of season 8.
(Tldr 90% of class skill trees are useless as it’s always the same builds at the top. Balance between classes is awful, ancestral drop rate is beyond a joke)

Firstly, loot. This is probably the single biggest issue as of season 8. Ancestral items are becoming so rare, that it’s somewhat comical.
With the difficulty increase our gear and overall power needs to be higher, that’s fine, but at the same time the drop rate for ancestrals is so much lower that I’m lucky if I see more than 3 a day, even in torment 4. Farming bosses for ancestral uniques is just mind numbing when I we’re lucky to see 1 every 10-15 runs.

Class balance, across the board and within each class separately is just pitiful. We now live in this very annoying bubble where every season there is a meta, and sub meta for each class, everyone and their neanderthal ancestors are having to run the same two or three builds to even have a hope of getting past torment 3.
I get why metas exist, but surely build crafting alone should be enough to solve this problem. Rather than having a build being required to run the same couple of aspects every season (looking at you spiritborn, unyielding hits, redirected force) that there’s no build variety. You wanna do t4 bosses? Please copy and paste this build from a YouTuber or twitch streamer (usually a diablo partner). Like, why can’t we probably build into things to make them good, rather than having obviously overpowered aspects that make 90% of that classes skill tree entirely redundant.
(Examples, stinger spiritborn, steelgrasp barbarian, sever necro, and literally all of druid other than the snapshotting cataclysm build) If clever tempering, paragon nodes and glyph placements were enough to make builds as stupidly overpowered as whatever blizzard decide is going to be meta every season then we might actually have some decent class variety.

I’m sure this will get ripped into and ridiculed as that’s just the nature of forums. But I’ve loved diablo for as long as I can remember, it’d just be nice to see everything reach a point of balance where you can pick what you want to play, and the hard part is actually building into it, not just carbon copy the same 3 builds every season.

Come on blizzard, you took the time to make all the skills, effects, visuals and class trees, make them worth using, otherwise it’s just a huge waste of time and assets.

i agree. atleast you got to T4 im still stuck in T3 even with a meta build (barb) im just unlucky. tempering is really getting on my nerves so many items right in the bin cause of that silly designed tempering. why is there so high chance to roll 2-3-4 times in a row the same tempering… with the barb im really getting tires of looking at evry single build must have earthquakes. who in the right mind think thats a good game design. sure it got nerfed this season but it is still meta anything els that dont have any sort of earthqake you might get lucky to get into t4 but when it comes to bosses just forgeth all about it. i feel i wasted my time with the barb so i rolled necro to get something out of this season pass. i dont really want to play it but still feel wasted if i dont finish the season pass and just wait for season 9… bot a good way to feel about a game. its just getting more and more boring to play diablo 4 as the dev has no clue where they want to go with the game. it really feels like it. no real try at balacing the skill trees. just very little skills get buffed to hell and call it a day… its boring to play the same meta over and over again. i dont really play other classes cause. been there done that no real new exciting builds to try make your self cause it aint meta you wont be able to do t4 bosses… i even rarely do bosses this season the forced phaseing is just a literly frustrating to deal with cause dodge ball simulator 2025 where damage has no real thing to say cause forced phasing. let me one shot the bosses if im able to so i dont have to play dodgeball all the time not fun… and i totally agree on loot it feels way off and downright downgrade from last season. and why even have the possibility to “craft” mythic from runes when you barely even getting close to make one in the first place unless you bought a gold spoon and shoved up where the sun dont shine… the way diablo is going is not great. it really dont feel like diablo more like a mmo microtransactions game with expensive dlc and skins… i miss old blizzard where quality was very importen. this fels just way off… Since start of season 8 i have been dealing with teleport to blackscreen and got alot worse with there so called “stability patch” just to night with 3 hours of playtime i had to alt+f4 5 times and hard restart computer cause diablo locked it up for some wierd reason. it is the only game that does it for me. it might be an amd issue but still it should be working not crashing so often and the devs should really focus more on fixing the game rather then adding more useless skins…

For me main problem its runes that is ridiculous.

Runes are a complete joke. And the fact we need 6 legendaries for a mythic. Like, what was wrong with the old system of needing 4 resplendent sparks to pick our mythic.
The runes should be an alternative (ie 2 sparks and 3 of each rune) rather than a replacement.

Drop rates as a whole for most things are just beyond bad this season. Even in pit 80+ you’re lucky if you see even 1 ancestral, which is stupid considering you need them to get there in the first place.

The bosses really grates on me too, like I’m all for having mechanics (the raid boss of the symbols and totems is fantastic mechanically) but these random invulnerability windows in ladder bosses and Lilith, is idiotic. Especially in Lilith and andariel as the boss.fights are like bullethells. Doesn’t matter why your resistances armor and damage reduction are, rng will kill you 9/10 times.

If they want bosses to have phases, the just put the resilient buff on them for a small period instead of being invincible.
Most builds take time to ramp up damage (I’m using bleed ancients barb, so I need to stack rupture procs) but these animations and iframe windows make it impossible. I despise fighting andariel on t4 because of it, and I refuse to go for Lilith on t4, these nonsense one shots and invincible bs just totally break the gameplay loop and it isn’t fun.
