I’m playing Diablo 4 about 3 weeks now and I got 5-6 crashes of my GPU. Fans run full, screen is black, restart helps. I’ve heard about this problem during open beta but thought it will be fixed on release version. Can I have any help with this problem or I just shouldn’t play Diablo 4? There is no overheating of GPU, I checked. Core temp was 70C when it crashes.
Same problem with my 6800 xt.
This is caused by VRAM overflow as far as my own tests show. The game chunks shit in there until it hits maximum and from that point it’s a gamble when it happens. Parallel to that energy consumption at high fps spikes all over the place and can also cause this issue. And as a third alternative, the GPU driver crashes but doesn’t restart by itself.
Yes they have a lot of work to do because this is very badly optimized
You can’t have problems on high end machines like that
Gigabyte 3080Ti? Black screen and crashes?
Say farewell to your card, it is dying
Nah, it’s only crushing in this game. I complete Last of Us Part 1, Elden Ring, RE4 and other big titles without any issues.
Yes, everyone knows this correlated to new demanding game, this is not first time it happens and not the last. But it’s not game fault, game is only asking for GPU resources, to display image. Game cannot overclock your GPU or destroy it. Other games don’t push GPU to the limit that much to you don’t see this.
Reason behind this is factory overclock of maximum TDP by manufacturer (Gigabyte). Card is going beyond the specification and destroying itself.
Game is not at fault, GPU must sustain everything computer is asking for, be it from the game, benchmark or anything else.
I suggest to check this card in another computer to make sure it’s not a power supply problem. Then, sell this card as soon as you can while it still works, or RMA it back to Gigabyte to get a replacement.
