Hi o/
I am experiencing high latency to the EU servers (I assume the EU ones since we can’t select which one we connect to.)
I am seeing between 220ms and 250ms latency from South Africa to the EU servers for Diablo 4 only. Diablo 3 and WoW is normally around 150ms to 160ms, which is obviously good given the distance.
I did WinMTR tests for D4 to the given 35.240.124.178 IP address, but all servers beyond 142.250.161.242 (Owned by Organization: Google LLC (GOGL) when I do a WHOIS on it.) gives me no response from the host, which makes me think Blizzard switched off ping responses from their D4 servers or Google broke pings beyond that server.
What is up here? Something seems real off.

OMG I came here to post the Same thing, in South Africa and it feels like an American server felt on DIablo 3. I used to get 160-180ms on D3 EU Server but in Diablo 4 the LOWEST I have seen is 240ms which feels really bad. I often dodge boss attack indicators and still get hit by them even when I am not in the designated “bad” area
Also in case anyone is searching “how to see latency in Diablo 4” or how do I see my ping in diablo 4 its very easy you just press Ctrl + R twice. The first time you press will show your FPS and the second press will swap to showing your latency. I have seen several comments on youtube videos that state you can’t see your loatency in D4 but you can and its better than it was in D3 because its persistent
Anyway enough of that tangent that was purposefully to get traffic on this page by people searching how to see their latency. If you got here from google please do a solid and ask Blizzard for South African servers.

For the last 2 nights CET I’ve been experiencing very serious lag problems in the game due to the high ping. Sometimes my character just slides from side to side, and sometimes the animations just freeze for a couple of seconds. At the same time, the ping is now jumping up to 100-200 ms, and yesterday the ping reached 1000 ms. Normal ping for me is 60-65ms.
Problems are observed only in Diablo. WoW has no problems. Ping is stable around 40ms.

I have the same problem. For the first two days the game ran flawlessly at 50ms. Now it’s 350-1200ms and disconnects every time I change location/use portal.
In other games ( even WoW) the problem does not occur. My connection is stable, I have followed all the steps recommended by blizard support on the website.

Forget about pings. Whole sequences of keystrokes not being registered during peak player activity. Last night I was intentionally waiting after activating every skill to see if the ability’s cooldown will be reflected in the UI before using the next one.
This does not bode well for an ARPG. Emphasis on the A. For such a game, network code and infrastructure should be so robust that even if all players decided to press 3 keys at the “same” time (human being perspective), all of the key presses would be registered. It’s not just about lag. Right now we have key presses not being registered at all. And consistently, for prolonged periods during prime times (e.g. weekends, after work hours).

Same problem since launch. Constantly 400-500 ms. During beta I thought it is, because of beta. Tried everything that is posted in customer support, in youtube videos, on reddit. Nothing helps. Game is pretty much unplayable.

Came to ask about the same thing, for the last two days I’ve been lagging like hell, especially during Helltides. The game also freezes like every third time I tp to town, always in the same point right before the cast finishes.
Before this I’ve had no serious issues at all, but the last two days have been close to unplayable.

Same issue here … first few days until last night were flawless, solid 50 ping.
Now as soon as I log in, it’s already over 120 ping, and when I start moving, bumps up to over 300 …
Rubber banding all over the place, getting disconnected, character sliding all over, actions not being registered, then it goes back down to 120 ping, sometimes down to 60, I can move and play normal for a couple minutes, then back over 300.
Rinse and repeat.
Kind of regretting buying ultimate to play before release, to now be unable to play at all for more than 2 minutes.
Love wasting money …

Noticed this as well over past couple of days with things getting gradually worse. Having to click mouse two or three ties before it ties in with what is going on in-game.
What I also find strange is that the servers are down for everyone I know apart from the preferred Twitch streamers… (at time of posting this).

It’s so bad it makes an already not fun experience even worse

My game is currently connecting to whatever server on this planet, just not EU.
IPs from diablo:
221.230.246.35
37.244.16.136
27.144.198.35
221.230.246.35 - Chinese IP adress (???)
27.144.198.35 is china IP aswell. 37.244.16.136 is amsterdam
You can´t tell me that china or whatever OUTSIDE the EU server is a better connection than ANYTHING inside EU.
Idk whats going on here, but this seems oddly fishy and (conspiracy theory) maybe even a loophole try to avoid GDPR of the EU.
Game stays on 200+ ms 24/7.

Constant disconnections, has been since launch, no other game with same issue and esp tonight, can barely get 3 minutes before it crashes

Same here, I’m in the EU, can’t get a server under 120ms
All other games I play I have a maximum of 50ms, I cannot believe Diablo IV is connecting me to the right servers, it’s impossible. Some friends have good ping so this is not a server performance issue…

Same here, from South Africa.
Usually get about 170 for EU server games. But D4 has seen a consistent 240 - 260…nearly a 100ms more than any other EU based game.
Did a speedtest to Paris (As that’s where the forums say the server is located…who know?) and I got 177 - 190; not the 240 - 260 I get in D4.
D3 was playable - D4 really does not feel right with this amount of ping.
Blizzard - Please let us know, maybe its just congestion…? …please say its just congestion… and that we are not in for high ping for years to come.
