High Quality Textures - stutter - memory leak - SOLVED (partially)

Knows issues

  1. Cant choose HIGH textures only LOW or MEDIUM – even on High End PC’s
  2. Stutter gameplay – even on High End PC’s

Test System:
Core i9 9900KS
Memory: option 1 – 16gb DDR4 3000mhz / option 2 – 32gb DDR4 3200mhz
Nvidia Geforce 3080 10gb
SSD
Windows 11

Cant choose HIGH textures only LOW or MEDIUM – even on High End PC’s

This is due to memory size.
On 16gb – I can only chose LOW or MEDIUM. The HIGH option doesn’t even show.
I went out and bought 32gb memory – and I got the HIGH option.
CONCLUTION – you need 32gb System Ram to be able to choose HIGH textures quality.
And it doesn’t matter if you downloaded the HD textures pack or have nvidia 4090gtx.

I am guessing it was not intended. It is not even remotely close to game official recommendation. Its probably due to some technical memory mannagment issue/programing that would be (or Should be) fixed. No game on currently on market (as far as I know) requires anything remotely close to run at ultra setting.

Stutter gameplay – even on High End PC’s

This issue related to the previous point.
As far as my testing goes – Stutter only happens on HIGH textures setting.
Switching back mid game to MEDIUM – Fix stutter.
Switching back to HIGH – stutter
Back to Medium – Fixed.
I tried it back and forth – same result all the time.
Changing other settings – doesn’t matter
Disabling SSO as some ppl suggested – doesn’t matter
And its not stressing the machine. When it doesn’t stutter (on high), for brief moments, that game runs at 60+ FPS on 4k all setting maxed.

It’s a memory usage issue – memory leaks or whatever.
Ppl testing and saw that on HIGH – the memory usage keep raising, and getting to 28gb +
And when switching back to Medium – its steady at 10gb usage.

Summery:
There seems to be a technical issue regarding memory usage in this BETA build, and would be (or should be) fixed.

Hope it helps

Can confirm that using High texture settings cause stutter. As far as the memory usage goes mine never went over 12 GB, but the stuttering was painful. Dropping to medium textures resolved the issue. Tested on an RTX 3060 TI

Even Low textures uses 8gb vram for me and stutters.

It’s receiving server info about other players assets.
You got the stutters when hitting new areas? or lots of other characters?

That’s and easy fix for them, that will be resolved on launch.

They can texture pop in after the server gives the information, over us stuttering.

Game reached 18GB VRAM on my 7900XT on High settings, now wonder it stutters for so many people.

You can, if you have 20GB+ VRAM and at least 32GB RAM.

Runs nice and smooth, I had a single client related crash the whole last weekend, everything else was a server crach or disconnect.

I experienced stuttering on High Textures in the beta. Also, right after quitting Diablo 4 and playing another game, stuttering every 4-6 seconds carried over from Diablo 4 and I had to restart my PC to make it stop.
