I’m a super casual player. It took me forever to get my necro to level 68. Finally started getting a nice build going and now I have to create a new character to play the new content…. Thats bullshit. Now I’m reading these malignant hearts will only work with the season 1 characters? Why waste my time on a character that already has an expiration date.
I’m moving on to a more casual game that wont suck my life away for no pay off
I understand your frustration and I feel the same way. Though, I’m not going to outright quit playing Diablo 4. It was a major shock to me to learn that I need to create a new character if I want to see new things. Also, this is the first game I’ve ever played that won’t let me complete the battle pass by playing the game normally. It’s really too bad. I have a life and a job. I don’t have the time to level multiple characters. 
When the Season expires, only the character will be transferred to the eternal realm - Malignant hearts and new aspects will be deleted

I had the same viewpoint, was adamant I didn’t want to start a new character.
I took the plunge and left my lvl 84 necro in the eternal realm and started a new Druid character.
I have to say I have really enjoyed season 1. I am now level 64 and levelling has seemed fun and quick.
Personally I am going to treat the seasons as a way to play all classes because it’s something I do want to explore. Not sure how I will feel starting new characters over the next coming seasons but so far I have enjoyed it. My only gripe is that the renown farming is boring as the side quests are not my favourite activity to do in the game. I am hoping Blizzard makes significant changes to collecting renown.
I’ve gone back and forth on the subject. However, if S2 is anything like S1 I’m not going to be playing it. I really have zero incentive to start fresh again for no real change to the game.
I would prefer some meaningful end game content than another season in all honesty.

Priorities are they need to do QoL stuff like gem tab and sort out the renown grind. We shouldnt be forced to redo all the side quests and waypoints again every season. That is just dumb.
Then they need to actually add seasonal content. Just me? Or is the season content they added like completely irrelevant?
Like I literally dont give a damn about the hearts at all. They all seem to have uninspired effects and actually imo just complicate things unnecessarily. I already have to micro manage aspects on gear to the point where i am forced to keep wearing bad items and cant equip new pieces because they dont have the aspects i need on them.
Now i am expected to also micro manage these hearts because the devs just decided that you arent allowrd to just remove them like gems. Why not? Just cus

99% of this season i have just been doing stuff that i already did in the eternal realm. The actual new season content has literally not made any impact on how the game is played.
When we were told we were getting seasonal content i expected it to actually change the game. People were saying the reason we had to make new characters were because they were going to add new gameplay that wouldnt work in the eternal realm. In reality, How hard would it actually be to add the hearts into the eternal realm? Just seems like adding any other new item to me. These hearts 100% could have just been added to the eternal realm and thus defeats the point of the new season

Agree, im almost ready to trash this game to much shit they do , and they didnt solve servers issues, just my last time i will buy a blizzard game again, tbh its more funny play fortnait,.

They nerf drop rate too, soo now u cant drop t4.
That’s the point of seasonal characters, it’s been the exact same for the last 20 seasons on diablo 3.
