The “Skill tree” is just D3’s skill system but put on a point commitment linear line instead of a hidden one with perm unlocks.
I would even say because of this its actually worse than D3, Skill trees usually flow into the next skill giving you an idea of whats to come/enhancing as you go.
This current tree does not and is further compounded as respecing is annoying because of the “skill point commitment requirement” causing you to respec multiple skills to test out small changes.
The spells style is copy paste D3 as well. You have the builder/spender then the (and these are my least fav in any ARPG) COOLDOWN spells.
I get it, you hate resource flasks so you force this very mundane play style.
Could this all be different with paragon? maybe? I do hope so, but i do not have high confidence with what I’ve seen so far.
But was it really too big an ask to make a fresh new Game then put in stuff from D3/D2 you liked in, instead of starting with the failed D3 bones then trying to fix it with “new stuff”.
If the bones are bad no amount of fleshing out will make it good in the end, it will collapse.
Maybe Diablo just isnt your game than. Try another ARPG, maybe it suits you better.
Game is great and cooldown is an acceptable way to balance abilities.
Its funny over what small stuff people can complaint.
It feels more D1 for for me but with D3 elements. I’m trying to find D2 but i guess that could happen in the future. And i played sorcerer not sorceress, barb, druid, rogue or necromancer as only limited options in classes for the beta.
I must admit i don’t like how you have to unlock skills you don’t want in order to progress.
Such a weak pathetic mortal response, People like you should rot In Duriels maggot lair.
Yeah skill twig, The one tree we see should really be 1 of 3 like diablo 2 imo.
Sorceress Barbarian Rogue
1 tree Lightning skills 1 Tree Brawler skills 1 Tree Ranged skills
1 tree Fire skills 1 Tree Weapon Skills 1 Tree Dagger skills
1 tree Cold skills 1 Tree Shout skills 1 Tree Mobility/Trap
This would mean players have tons more unique skills to choose from with much more character identity, rather than all barbarians using upheaval or whirlwin
I agree that it is hard to call it a real skill tree. First of all after unlocking skill you have only 6 points more to invest into it and you are done with customization. Second - The difference between 1 point skill and fully invested skill is so insignificant that I often felt like I don’t really need to put points into skills other than to unlock new skills. Also there is no real variety of skills. E.g. If you wanna play lightning sorc you only have like 6-7 skills.
i think skill tree is bad, i dont like it, also if you want to change one freaking option in for example node 2 and you are node 4, you have to undo all these nodes just to change 1 option. Also skill tree is very lazy i would say, mage node 4 spells are shitty
It feels like D2+ which is fine. What isn’t fine is resetting all talents when I only want to adjust one or two things. Honestly the idea of costing a respec is benign; make it like WoW so we can adjust as we need on the fly. It won’t murder the game.
So if d2 had little choice for lightning skills then it is ok for d4? Check out how many lightning skills with interesting mechanic PoE has. I believe d4 can do better than current set of skills
I’ve never seen so many people complain about something in life that is so, trivial? I had zero issues playing, made it to 25, no queue, slight network lag that resulted in rubber banding, but not enough that I felt I’d have to jump on here to let the world know how much a game didn’t measure up to what fantasy I had concocted in my head on what it should be!
Everything? I love so much about D4, I have read 5 of the diablo books, I have played all the games.
I also dislike alot about D4.
I suppose you think the game has 0 flaws and is in absolute perfect state then? lmao.
Silly blizzard didnt need a beta the game is absolutely perfect dont need any balancing or expansions in future because its perfect lmfao.
Can’t see DIII anywhere, what I see is a lot of DII but to be honest, I removed DIII from my brain.
I still remember that the “best” Witch doctor skill was the initial one, throwing darts the entire game, felt lame and cheap. Coming form DII Necro and only having 3-4 dogs and a blowgun… phew, I hated so much DIII that didn’t even get the necro expansion.
I “maxed out” a witch doctor, a sorc and a demon hunter, none of them felt fun and overall I couldn’t stand the World of Warcraft wannabe cartoony style.
I replayed DII with the Resu edition when it launched, so I have it quite recent. Best remake ever.
So far in DIV I reached lvl 25 with the Sorc and after farming a bit on the lvl 30 fort left the beta as “ended”.
Can’t wait to “max out” the Necro and the Druid next week to lvl 25.
