Is this a new D3 expansion?

It is like a mini-WoW in a straight D3 shell.

You would be hard pressed to think it is an entirely new game, you would be excused to think it is the new D3 release/expansion, similar to how WoW Dragonflight updated the skills and talents over previous WoW releases.

It is slow. All movement and actions seem slow. Does not feel action driven, responsive, it feels “fuzzy”.

There is a lot of rubber-banding, and screen jerking - this is a desktop PC with 32GB RAM and RTX 3070. Maybe I need to update my graphics card?

I do not want to watch a movie. I want to go out there, in the open, start killing things, get some drops, feel good. No, I cannot, I have to go through this hand-holding, linear and boring story telling. And this is my second character, so why can I not skip it already?

Looking at my character sheet and inventory, ilevel, “2% of this” and “5% of that” , hmm, boring. Let me check I am not playing WoW? No, it is not WoW, it is D4.

Sounds, effects and music: mediocre and again, D3 like. Quests completion popups, chests opened, loot looted, cling-cling-cling sounds like an Asian game, like you won a prize in a slot machine. I have got a violin playing in the background, in a minor (sad) chord, like a monkey pressing random keys on the synthesizer, there is no “tune” to it. Gets VERY annoying after a while. Make a good tune, or do not make it at all.

Everything else looks and feels D3. Clicking, moving… I am not getting a “new game” feel, I am getting a “D3 new release” feel instead.

With forced “zoom in”, I keep finding myself instinctively trying to zoom out.

I am playing the game as we speak. Started with Barb, and playing a sorceress now.

Instead of making allegations about me, try to reply to the points I have made.

I keep saying the same. It seems a “D3 wannabe” with mega-boosted graphs and lag issues that make the game unplayable in ultra, with same set that I played D3 High Res.

Maybe, they can make a decent game in a few months.

Btw, worst Diablo by far.

You know… if you have to upgrade something it’s your ISP… the rubber-banding comes with Blizz squeezing everything through a data bottlneck to save money.

No you don’t. After the “Tutorial” you can do whatever you want and you can completely ignore the story and start killing things.

It’s informative but if statistics are boring to you so be it.

After all this seems like a “Haters gona hate!” post that is the opposit of smart and almost everything written there makes it obvious  .

D4 has it’s issues but you can put on a tinfoil hat and make stuff up if you want to… or better said: Like you did.

I felt sick when the druid transformed into a mob, what I mean is werewolf is the exact same template as the werewolf mobs, just as a grey colour, WTF? Can they not at least make it SLIGHTLY unique, skinnier or beefier? Something…

Then you have the art style, it is lacking contrast, your char feels glued to the environment, grey on grey = bad idea. There is no nuance in order to make your char “pop” enough, so it feels as if it’s a separate entity from the world. The general world also looks like a piece of soggy cardboard, not engaging, they failed their ideal of “dark” yet fun and playable.

They need to fix this while maintaining the “dark theme”

I think this game is certainly better than D3 and I am very pleased they went more into the dark gothic feel more accurate to the original vision of the Diablo series.

That being said though, I think what would make it better is to lean heavier into what specifically made D2 so great.

I could spend a lot of time talking about it, like many could. (I think MrllamaSC has a really good take on things so far actually. I agree with most if not all of his points)

But, that would make this a longer post than most would even read.

But, better itemization is a key part (D2’s system is universally acknowledged as one of the best in genre, even to this day).

A feeling of progression in power level is something that you do not feel in D4 currently.

sounds like Skill issue

let me know when they put monsters in the game so that i dont have to walk 1 min between packs lol

You will do it in any case.
They will give you a beautiful and individual shape, but for a fee.
How else will they sell you the great cosmetics?
Ever thought about it?

the Game is fine, only concerns i have is: The balancing between Casters heroes - Melee.

  1. the sorcerer i like to play it what i noticed is that the Hydra build is definitly OP against other builds.
  2. Necromancer is just beyond Broken everything does too much dmg the minions, corpse explosion etc.
  3. Barbarian is lack luster and clunky, the dmg is mediocre, but fun to play.
  4. Druid the biggest meme of diablo history really, the dmg is just not there, also Building your resource is unfun tbh, especially as melee you need to do 10 attacks to build up and then spend 1 attack to have 0 resource, really. the biggest flaw is the damage tbh. its not THEIR.
  5. the rogue didnt played it myself, but friends said its actually not bad in dmg etc.
Gameplay wise: the game feels represhing i like the MMO aspect and it isnt really an mmo because you are being Phased untill a certain players. MMO means Massive Multiplayer and here it isnt the case.
  6. i am worried about the endgame of Diablo 4 what will be there? Blizzard didnt really said anything about it, i would like fun Group play, solo play, and nice new things. but as i see it now there isnt really anything new comming.

I mean…at the same point and all yh… runs around

Slow movement? Wait till you get access to a horse, then it won’t be much of an issue anymore.
Rubber banding? This public beta is obviously a stress test so they can get the needed amount of servers for release right and tweak the netcode.
Bored of the story? Once you’re done with that it’ll be open-world endgame content and you probably won’t ever have to bother with it anymore. Pretty certain that prologue sequence is only necessary once and not for every character once the full game comes out. It’s just something that’s not in the game yet.
Percentages… phew, if you’re troubled by this you might not like Diablo very much, it’s always about min-maxing the best possible gear for a build, and even a 1% increase means much to seasoned veterans trying to get the best possible gear combination.
No new game feel? Of course not, the game’s formula is from 1997 with barely any changes aside from graphics and some minor details in gameplay, but at its core you won’t feel much difference between Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III and Diablo IV. It’s isometric Hack & Slay in a fantasy world, what do you want?
I’m with you on the music, although tbf the music of Diablo was never really standing out much. Everyone loves the guitar strums at the beginning of the Tristram theme, but that’s about it
