Legacy items vs Loot 2.0 items damage affixes

This is a genuine, and maybe silly, question to yáll spreadsheet warriors out there! Can you please help me understand how the “old” diverse damage affixes correlate to the “new” aggregate damage affixes?

Case #1:

I have a legacy sorcerer staff with:

  • +63% Ultimate damage
  • +58.5% Mastery damage
  • +36% damage to burning enemies

And i have a “new” staff with

  • +63.8% damage

Does this mean that this single affix on the new item is better than three old ones alltogether (because it’s “+ to all damage”)?

Case #2:

I have a legacy sorcerer amulet with

  • +42% to Conjuration damage
  • +3 to Conjuration skills (roughly equivalent to +15-20% Conjuration damage)
  • +3 to Mastery skills (roughly equivalent to +15-20% Mastery damage)
  • +3 to Devouring Blaze (passive that essentially increases CS damage against burning enemies by 42% on the level i have it)

Does that mean that a new amulet with like

  • +24% Damage
  • +88% Damage to distant enemes

will be actually better than all of those legacy affixes combined? I tried to test these amulets on dummies, but i don’t understand the numbers i’m seeing as the new item actually fares worse than the legacy one while it should perform way better on paper. I mean “damage to distant enemies” is equivalent to “all damage” for an RDD class, right, and i don’t see this supposed almost 100% damage increase even remotely, i see less damage for both Mastery and Conjuration skills.

Many thanks in advance for clarifying my concerns!

S3 loot was way better. Tempering has Stats and results that are just there to annoy you.
