OK Blizzard this behaviour is extremely predatory.

This is the first battle pass I have seen since 2013 in which you can not earn enough fun bucks to buy the next pass - are you kidding me ?

this is the first BP since 2013 where you don’t even earn enough to buy one single thing from the store - we earn 666 fun bucks whereas the cheapest thing on the store is 800 fun bucks.

I’m absolutely promising you that in the pursuit of more money you have settled for earning the smallest amount possible by choosing this awful way. After a while you won’t earn even a tenth of the money you so desire by adopting this anti-consumer/gamer policy of trying to milk every penny.

All you had to do to ensure maximum profits and great reputation was to release a good FUN game where everything was working and the only tweaks necessary was balancing and adding a steady stream of good content.
Instead of doing this you chose to release a half-baked game with main mechanics not even functioning, a predatory system of battlepasses instead of a re-investment battlepass and to cap it all off you blatantly don’t give a crap about the players feedback or have any intention of changing this mindset.

You have wasted millions in market research and advertising for a game that even I, a 50 yr old veteran of Diablo games, can barely stomach to play. There is no way in hell I will be spending any more money on anything you do.

You have allowed sales people to ruin your once great company in the pursuit of minimum effort for maximum profits. After seeing how D4 was developed, which consisted of a ridiculous amount of compartmentalisation to the point that people working on the game never knew what others were doing or even played the game that they were developing in some cases, it is clear that Blizzard North is dead and gone and only Activision remain.
I’d like to tell you to enjoy the money I spent buying this game but as it was bought for me I happily can’t do that.

Because of your complete disregard for the players your reputation is in the sewers - good luck clawing that back, your game scores are rock bottom with Overwatch 2 the most dislike game on steam (of all time?) at this point Blizzard is worse than EA at their lowest point.

I know this will get my account locked again because it is criticising the almighty Blizzard but that is how I and dare I say a lot of others feel about you right now so go ahead and lock it, you are the lowest of the low and deserve to be swallowed by Microsoft and be slowly dismantled until there is nothing left.

Goodbye Blizzard it was fun whilst it lasted but you took the piss and managed to alienate a very large portion of your loyal playerbase - GREAT JOB!

Interesting you would instantly assume im defending blizzard. I have plenty to say about this terrible battlepass myself, but this post doesn’t invite to a disgussion about the battlepass, it is just another angry rant about blizzard

Not only battle pass is horrible, but it doesn’t even work, so you can’t even finish some tasks.

If you are talking to me… I never said you were defending Blizzard. I just found your post to be a little self contradicting. I’m very pedantic so I had to comment about it.

I was replying to Nomad44k. But since you mention it, i dont think its self contradicting when the title of the post is “lets talk battlepass” and the vast majority of the post isn’t about the battlepass

He did. Nothing personal. What you said was indeed, self contradicting.

On a side note, if you really have a lot to say about the battle pass yourself, then this could have been a great place to do it. But instead of adding more relevant content to this topic, you instead diluted it more by talking about his post quality. I know I am no better right now, but then again, I wasn’t acting like it was a problem… Until now.

Imagine being so obtuse and not actually contributing anything to the discussion such as Savator, silly boy. OP has hit the nail on the head.

There have been so many players leave due the the shiddy practices which affects us ALL. Blizz signed Diablo’s death warrant. We were willing to forgive for that abomination they call Immortal, and hold up hopes for D4, but they just gave us a gut punch as a reward.

They asked on twitter what skins people want, and people send them pictures and stuff, so they will soon make new skins, even before they manage to fix anything in this game.

I know!
I used it as my account name in Diablo 2 original but the correct spelling wasn’t available so I used this. I just carried it on from there, and yes, it hurts me to this day :cry:

But I’m also a traditionalist… The dilemma :sob:

Fair enough.

-As OP mentioned, the currency reward is ridiculous, it should be much higher, enough for the next battle pass at minimum, and more than that.
-The cosmetic rewards are a joke, one transmog set for all classes in two color variations, not even a unique set for each class. There should be 2-3 sets per class in the battlepass, and each set should be one tier reward, instead of splitting up one set into 5 tiers. Further more, the weapons included only fits the inferior version of the set, there should be weapons matching the other variation too.
-Smoldering Ashes are terrible, and borderline pay to win, given that you can buy tier skips. The bonusses from Ashes are way too low, especially the XP Bonus; 8% might as well just not, Should be more like 50%.

In short, a acceptable battlepass would have more currency, unique cosmetics for each class, and more impactful gameplay bonusses. (Gameplay bonusses on free track ofcourse)

You can do the same thing as i did back in 2014 when WoD launched and it was garbanzo
Quit and be back when it’s going to be better
I did that back in 2015 after 3 months of that garbage expansion and i didn’t used battle net or played any blizzard game till august 2017 again because i felt that Wow is bad game
When i came back it was in better state even diablo 3 was in better state after those 2 years or something

The best way to handle this is to stop playing their game for a while and just do something else.

They are business they are not going to stop and you being anti-blizzard and anti-money wil never cure them.Because there are people in this world that don’t treat blizzard games with emotion.
They go i play it it’s fun then it’s not i’m gone it’s simple as this

The problem here is that the method they used to make sure the ashes are NOT p2w is worse in my opinion than having them be p2w.
I am level 79 now, finished the battle pass a long time ago and still only have access to about half the ashes.
Instead of making them unlocked by level they could have just made those tiers unlock when a player has earned enough ‘favor’ to unlock the tier normally.
I don’t want to go all tinfoil hat on this, but that solution is SOOOO easy, I cannot help to think they made the level solution just to make people grind more.

And the XP gain is indeed terrible. At WT4, 8% XP increase (additive) is a 2.67% increase multiplicative, which is not significant in the total XP-design of this game.

While I don’t want to defend Blizzard or their pricing system in general (I think the shop is very overpriced), I do think the rewards are quite decent, considering a perpetual battle pass will cost between 3 and 5 euros per pass (assuming they keep giving 666 plat in the pass). At least this is more in line with what you’d expect from mtx than the normal shop items.
I find the free rewards to be quite lacklustre though. They could have had at least 2-4 more free transmogs in there without taking away from the value of the paid one.

On a general note. Things I’d like to see in the battle pass are:

  • Two separate tracks, one free and one paid so we’d have a free pass that rewards something every tier.
  • The free track could reward a cache every ‘empty’ tier (so in between the ashes and free transmogs), with rare and legendary caches being awarded every 10/20/50/whatever tiers. Maybe we can have a guaranteed unique cache in there…
  • The free track would be endless (like in Hearthstone), rewarding caches for each tier after 90 too.

I actually find it weird that they haven’t implemented this, as it is another way to encourage people to keep playing (and it is more fun for the players too… sort of win-win).
