Metacritic down to 3.5/10

my dude, go play Diablo I and Diablo II , then come back and re-rewrite your post (: if you don’t own any of the game I can provide you with some links, this game is beyond silly in so many ways and i’ll give you a few examples: lack of endgame, itemization, some copy-cat of an mmo with a pinch of extremely bad netcode, etc and so on, I could stand here and point out the obvious, this is not a Diablo game … this is a monstrosity of a wanna be diablo game
the artwork is awesome but the gameplay is beyond bananas, I don’t play games for the artwork.

OldPeter was much meaner

Morgonrodnad :fist_right: :fist_left: no need to agree with everything but bit of positivity around the game always welcomed especially that I do not think the title is as bad as some people paint it.

One silly Man, You should put that money on some anger management, not bad game such a D4. What is forum for? Do You know, silly small boy? These people are sharing their opinions and they have right to do so, just Like You and few other people here have right to Like that game but anyway, You and Your few fanboys would defend D4 on a very much silly way. Other people opinion make You big angery? You would eat a poo if some people Here sended You tasty one and wrote on it “Blizzard”

it is you who is upset about game.

I am sharing mine

I would eat you alive and spit out what’s left.

Eat, not it*. Silly small boy with big lips. Use those lips for defending Blizzard that give people beta version of a game that is shallow and narrow

I think 3.5/10 is pretty generous for an abomination like this. I remember playing D3 at launch and it was nowhere near terrible as D4 is.

My pros:

  • the atmosphere
  • the story is ok up into act 4
  • rogue gameplay

my cons:

  • the gameplay of druid and necromancer
  • helltide
  • uniques mandatory for some builds
  • lacking stuff like the adventure mode in d3
  • the whole itemization and stat overkill on items that make it even more grindy

Grindy ?. You can’t grind anything in this game.
campaing 1 point
art 1 point
cinematic 1 point.
And that what they should have best.
so 3/10 would be perfect.
Anyway after few weeks they will cut all negative points. So game will jump back to 8 or 9

You must work for Blizzard, defending them on here as much as you have recently. People who are happy with the game are playing it, but not you.

People paid a lot of money for this game and it’s basically one map with many repetitive features/models, the same graphics juggled around in the many boring and repetitive dungeons and a game that is purely rinse and repeat for no purpose whatsoever.

If you give it 8/10 then you haven’t played endgame. Or you work for Blizzard.

I’m bemused how the game cost that much time and money to make when there’s so little content and variety.

You must understand, that it is not that I am defending Blizz, but rather principles.

I give game 8/10 because of its graphic, animations, combat, gameplay, art, cinematics, open world. I had blast playing it, so did my brother. It is a good game.

really? you believe I work for Blizz because I think the game deserves 8/10? This is some kind of tribal thinking: “because he is not with us, he must be with them”.

recently I prefer to be on this forum instead of playing. I play games casually, that means not that often. I also like to exchange thoughts with others feels much better than just clicking all the time, hence. I am here.

Edit: On top of being “accused” of working for Blizz I was called out on “spreading positivity”
How dare I !!! this is the place where people get off on drama and negativity and here I am daring to say that the game is good.

You are very sensitive to critisism, what do you expect?

I hate this game, the developers should get a pay raise.

This game has no replayability and is boring, 10/10!

Diablo 4 is So Bad! They really know how to code!

They just nerfed what little fun I was having with this game, when’s the expensive expansion due?

No, critisism is inherently negative, they are adults, they can take it.

The developers show no sign of listening to their customers so obviously they should retire and give the reigns to new developers with fresh ideas, perhaps they should head-hunt some talent from Free-To-Play ARPG’s, they’d probably appreciate the pay-cheque of an AAA Studio with a budget of $135m. They’ve just conned $1billion out of us, they can afford some new talent.

They show no signs of listening to their customers so I don’t think it really matters how people word their issues. People get angry when they feel like they are screaming into a void.

Yes, people should lose their jobs, is helping develop a game a means lifelong employment? Even a failing game? Perhaps if they released good games… perhaps, we shall never know.

Hi Bambulance. Sorry about the other topic (the one we communicated last time created by other user, it is removed now). I was overly harsh and was out of the line. I will try not to make mistakes like this and tone down my answers.

 Even d3 had more now it’s sitting on 1.8

What is the goal you guys are trying to achieve? Is it attempt to demotivate team completely? What kind of satisfaction are you deriving from making score on Metacritic as low as possible?

If the game gets improved over time are you going to bombard it with 10s to balance things out or is it that you just do 1s?

Wow, really surprising to see how many petty and pathetic people that exist in this thread.

The math is simple: You either have alot of nice and versatile (end) game content, or you make sure the itemization is fun and motivating. D4 has neither.

Does anyone take Metacritic seriously? It has no substance whatsoever. The same people who ‘review’ something are those people who vote dictators into power.

No human who breathes air could give D4 a 1 and be serious about it.

Do you know what a 1 rating game looks like? Something you would make.

I take metacritic very seriously, but not as a balanced review site.
Of course a balanced review of D4 would not result in a 2.2/10

What metacritic shows well is how well the developer/publisher is treating its fanbase.
If a game has a rating of 4ish or lower it usually means the developer/publisher serious pissed off the fanbase, usually by implementing on or more of the following:

  • Needless (level) grinds (backed up by ‘accelerators’ you can buy)
  • PtW mtx-strategies
  • Unsolved game-breaking bugs
  • Other unfair or toxic mechanics
  • some money grab scheme

Good games with developers that listen to and support their fanbase usually have a much higher (and often more realistic) score.

So before I buy a game (unless I preorder) I always check Metacritic. If the game has a very low rating I check why. If the problem is something I don’t care about or can WeMod out of the game I buy and otherwise I don’t.

what makes the game good apart from good graphics?

itemization is terrible - why even have normal, sacred and ancestral items? wouldnt Ilvl be just as good a differentiator? the only reason to have it now is to not pick up anything yellow not ancestral, there are way to few uniques to make any sort of versatility in builds, since they are limited to very specific skills in most cases, it would be way better if the uniqes was more in line to add some effect to dmg/attack etc. not to one specific skill, or at the least have a lot of different ones, not uniques just for 2-3 skills for each class…

towns - while they are good looking, there is just a lot of running around from one vendor to the other instead of a more centralized hub for all of them, just annoying and time consuming.

survivability - is basically based on having 2-4 defensive skills on the bar, depending on class, this could have been done so much better, either by having defensive skills like in d2 which has long duration or having way shorter cd’s on the existing ones.
getting oneshotted as soon as I dont have a defensive cd available is not my thought of fun. just frustrating and annoying tbh.

builds - trying a build a little out of the ordinary(read: not one of the metabuilds) is not even fun, while some can be viable to kill stuff they are just so frustratingly slow especially because there is no unique to accomodate it in any way. this part was basically what hooked me to diablo in the first place, the versatility and huge array of different playstyles you had in D2 has been replaced by the way D3 was at start, and we all know how well that went, D3 at launch and today is not even remotely similar, still they amazingly managed to make it more like D3 at launch then what it is now.

the story was okish, but nothing special.

so what makes the game deserve a high score? its like a mediocre alpha of a game, not even remotely worth the pricetag as it stands now.
if the pricetag was 20 euros, I would rate it way higher, but at a 80 euro pricetag it has failed royally to deliver.
